Spending $250,000-$350,000 on a vehicle seems pretty pricey for most people, but if you’re in the market for a supercar like a Bugatti, that’s what you can expect to pay, and the cost doesn’t stop there.
For as much as it costs to buy a Bugatti, the cost of maintaining one is just as astonishing. Tires alone can cost a lot of money, but how much for Bugatti tires? If you’d like to find out, keep reading!
It costs somewhere around $42,000 to replace the tires on a Bugatti Veyron, and they have to be changed every 18 months whether it gets driven or not. The Veyron uses Michelin Pilot Sport PAX tires, which use special heat and friction-resistant compounds, making them low production and very expensive.
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to own a Bugatti and maintain one? Keep reading to learn what it’s like just to keep up tire maintenance on a Bugatti Veyron or Chiron!
There are two main reasons why Bugatti tires are so expensive.
The first reason is Bugatti supercars use Michelin Pilot Sport PAX tires that use special heat and friction-resistant compounds for high-performance, which is not an inexpensive compound.
The second reason for Bugatti’s expensive tires is that they are low production tires.
Michelin does not crank out these tires and that kind of material on a regular basis, and to make up for the cost of special production, Michelin charges that much.
The uniqueness of the rubber compound that Michelin uses for its Pilot Sport PAX tires requires a glued air seal, unlike a traditional air-sealed tire.
Unfortunately for the owner, with tires costing somewhere around $10,050 each, you have to have your tires changed every 18 months to make sure the glue stays sealed.
Bugatti tires can withstand a speed of 250 MPH, but they can only withstand that speed for about 15-minutes before they would need a break and possible maintenance.
The Bugatti Chiron uses a different set of tires than the Veyron does, due to it reaching top speeds of 300 MPH. Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires are used on the Chiron.
To ensure safety when reaching speeds of 300, there’s an extra carbon fiber layer added.
The Bugatti has a very special size tire. In fact, the Veyron has the widest tires on the rear than any other production vehicle.
The official size of the tires is 285/30 R 20 in the front and 355/25 R 21 in the rear.
When it comes to width, the front tires measure 9.5 inches in the front and 14.4 inches in the rear (245 millimeters front and 365 millimeters rear respectively).
Wheel size for the Bugatti Chiron is very important, because of the speeds that it can reach. The perfect size is needed, and the wheel size Bugatti uses is 10Jx 20 ET.
The tires on the Bugatti Chiron are so rare that the company doesn’t have a replacement for them yet and/or a time frame when they should be changed.
This is because there is no way of telling how much one is going to be driven from one owner to the other.
Bugatti says that its employees will change your tires every 1,875 miles or 1.5 years just to be safe.
These tires are a little different than the Bugatti Chiron tires.
It’s estimated that the Veyron tires should be replaced every 1.5 years or 18 months.
The secret is the tires don’t actually have to be replaced, they just have to be serviced to ensure the glue stays sealed, whether you drive your supercar or not.
Unfortunately, the Bugatti rim situation is about as expensive as the tire situation. You can expect to pay somewhere around $69,000 for a set of Bugatti rims.
You may think that’s okay, because you don’t have to change the rims every time you change the tires.
This is true, but on Bugattis, you do have to change the rims every other tire change as recommended by Bugatti.
Directly from the factory, Bugatti tires are filled with nitrogen.
There is a difference between regular air and nitrogen, nitrogen being the more expensive (but better quality) alternative.
One must think: if your tires cost $42,000, the little extra you have to pay for nitrogen is probably worth it.

Supercars are not only expensive, but they are also expensive to own and maintain, as you need to have $42,000 for new tires every 18 months. Bugattis are some of the rarest supercars in the world, and to prove it, even the tires are rare.
I've got bad news for anyone looking for a heavily depreciated, deferred maintenance special Bugatti Veyron: getting that car back up to shape won't be cheap. Businessman Manny Khoshbin owns two of the monstrous W-16 powered cars, and he recently detailed its maintenance schedule and costs on his YouTube channel. Chances are, you already know it will be expensive—but maybe not this expensive.
For starters, a base-model Veyron cost approximately $1.7 million when new, with models typically running between that and a whopping $3 million. According to Khoshbin, his stunning brown-on-brown 1,200-horsepower Legend-series Veyron Roadster cost him over $3 million. It was clearly worth it, though, as he says it's the fastest roadster he owns.
Bugatti recommends changing all of the Veyron's fluids annually to the tune of about $25,000, partially because of the 16 drain plugs involved to do so. This Veyron has twice as many plugs to open up than on the Lamborghini Huracán, according to Motor1. The location of some drain plugs drives up the cost of this service, too, with the car's grille, rear wheels, rear brakes, and rear fender liners all having to come out just to access certain drain holes.
Changing tires is especially pricey, given that they were custom made for the car by Michelin to withstand speeds over 250 miles per hour on the Veyron's wide wheels and handle 1.3 G on a skidpad, per HowStuffWorks. Bugatti recommends swapping these tires every two to three years whether they need to or not to the tune of $38,000 a set.
Khoshbin's other Veyron was customized by Mansory. , Screencap via Manny Khoshbin on YouTubeOne cost I didn't expect to see here are the wheels. Most of us keep the wheels on our cars for the lifetime of said car unless they get significantly damaged before then. Not so for the Bugatti, as the manufacturer recommends replacing them every 10,000 miles for a cost of $50,000.
All this adds up to a ton of cash every two years or so, provided you rack up 10,000 miles in that timespan. Including the wheels, you're looking at $113,000 over 24 months. It's as much as a nice condo in a midsize town, or maybe a college education if you don't go to a pricey private school. Can you drive a college degree over 250 mph, though? Of course not! I think we know which one is the better financial decision here.
Khoshbin's collection includes 0.44% of the 450 Veyrons ever made plus some other choice machinery, according to Motor1. One of those Veyrons is a wild 1,109 hp Mansory Veyron, plus a one-of-one Hermes-edition Chiron. Khoshbin also loves the Mercedes SLR McLaren to the point where he owns five of them. Bonus: he actually drives his cars without worrying too much about the mileage, even keeping snacks in the Veyron's glove box. Clearly, he's our kind of collector, although I wish he'd chill out a bit more on public roads.
Yet if he needs to repair his Veyrons, he's still in for some pretty steep bills. They're not exactly a car you see in salvage yards all that often, so chances are, you'll be ordering these parts from Bugatti themselves. According to an EPA certification application found by Motor1, replacing one of the two air coolers is $9,000 for parts and $2,000 in labor. Replacing one turbocharger costs $6,400, with $9,000 in labor to do two of its four turbos at once.
Screencap via Manny Khoshbin on YouTubeLabor costs get gnarlier as you dive deeper into the engine bay, with one $800 camshaft costing about $21,000 in labor due to the lengthy disassembly required to get to it. The worst part to replace is the fuel tank, which will set you back a total of $42,000—$22,000 of which is labor alone. As you can imagine, even filling that 26.4-gallon isn't cheap, as Khoshbin notes one fine dinner in Los Angeles costing less than his fuel bill for the way there.
All of these numbers are almost enough to make you empathize with the guy who infamously wrote his Veyron off by driving it into a lake. Just don't call it a Lambo and we're good.
90,000 What's special about a sub-$25,000 Bugatti wheel? — Kolesa. kz || Readkolesa
The fact that one wheel of the Bugatti Veyron hypercar costs from 25 to 40 thousand dollars on the secondary market has been repeatedly reported. However, until now, no one has had the courage to open the precious disks, since it is obvious that after vivisection they will lose their former value. A couple of American bloggers disregarded the norms of decency and cut a slice out of a Weyron shoe — $25,000 for a used rim and another $10,000 for a Michelin road tire.
As it turned out, visually, the 20-inch aluminum wheel of the Italian company OZ Racing is no different from the usual one, except for the inner ring made of polymer, designed to support the tire in the event of a sharp drop in pressure at speed and the ability to get to the service. However, this insert on the disc is part of the proprietary Michelin PAX system, which can also be found on other premium cars. And for what, you ask, such money?!
The Bugatti Veyron rubber resource cannot be called durable either - the manufacturer recommends changing tires every five years, regardless of mileage, and when replacing a set, each disc is x-rayed to reveal potentially dangerous microcracks, and the tire is put on the disc along with glue. On the other hand, the used wheels of the "king of supercars" can be put on less pretentious vehicles, including Nissan and Renault vans, the universal bolt pattern 5 × 130 allows this.

Another supercar has been registered in Latvia: a 2009 Bugatti Veyron was acquired by the local company SIA Jacob LV (the supercar received a Zonda license plate). How much can the owners of the maintenance of such a car cost?

Bugatti Veyron with a mileage of about 7000 km was imported to Latvia from Austria. According to its former owner, the Carbon Edition car was produced in two copies. The cost of the car can be 1.8 million euros.
Bugatti Veyron is one of the most powerful production cars in history, equipped with an eight-liter four-turbo engine producing 1001 hp. It can accelerate to a speed of 100 km / h in 2.5 seconds, the maximum speed exceeds 408 km / h. In theory, after 15 minutes of driving at maximum speed, tires can explode on the car. However, the fuel supply in the gas tank is only enough for 12 minutes. Depending on the modification and condition, a used Bugatti Veyron costs between one and three million euros.
"There are two million for a car, but not enough for winter tires," one of Delfi Auto's anonymous commentators left his opinion. It should be noted here that, firstly, winter tires specifically for Bugatti cannot be purchased for any money - such tires simply do not exist in nature. And secondly, a supercar cannot be assessed as an ordinary car, everything is much more complicated here.
When developing such a machine, one of the main tasks was to create special tires from scratch: on those that were sold at that time in stores, a speed of no more than 350 km / h was allowed. Therefore, Bugatti needed new tires so that the car could pass inspection and be safe to drive at speeds over 400 km/h.
Bugatti approached tire manufacturer Michelin to develop the appropriate technology and dimensions for supercar tires. Accordingly, the owners buy new Bugatti Veyron summer tires only from Michelin. The cost of one set is about 30 thousand euros, they are recommended to be used no more than 4000 kilometers, after which the set should be replaced.
30 thousand for a set of tires - this, in the context of the Bugatti Veyron, is neither expensive nor cheap. A similar level of prices for other supercar services. So, with the fourth tire change, you also need to purchase new rims for the wheels. In this case, a visit to a car service will cost about 110 thousand euros.
Changing the engine oil is not difficult at first. This procedure can not be too expensive? No matter how! In an authorized Bugatti service, it will cost about 20 thousand euros. An oil change is part of the annual service, which in total costs approximately 30 thousand euros. During each such service, the 16-cylinder engine is disassembled and examined for changes from the norm.
If you buy a new Veyron, Bugatti also offers a €50,000 service package that includes free car maintenance for three years.
Considering that the Bugatti Veyron registered in Latvia is manufactured in 2009 and there are no more manufacturer's warranties on it, its owner can theoretically change the oil in any service. However, if there is a desire to maintain (and increase) the value of a collectible car, then all paperwork should be in full order. In this case, it is better to visit an authorized service, where an appropriate seal will be put in the service book.
The nearest Bugatti authorized service from Latvia is located in Hamburg, about 1500 km from Riga. In addition to Germany, official Bugatti services in Europe are also available in Sweden, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Monaco and the UK.
