Flexible hose. Service life is limited.

Flexible water and gas connection, based on a rubber hose, a thing that greatly facilitates the process of connecting various devices and equipment to the water and gas networks for the master. Facilitate, then they facilitate, but for this ease you have to pay with security. If even seven years ago faucets for sinks and washbasins had copper tubes in their design for connecting to the water supply; then at present, copper pipes on mixers can be found less and less; soon they will obviously be completely replaced by hoses in metal braids. Special collets for copper pipes on plumbing fixtures such as electric water heaters, toilet flush cisterns; also, they are a thing of the past and their places have now been replaced by conventional threaded pipes. It's a pity. On sale you can still find copper chrome tubes that can be used instead of the flexible hoses that come with the mixer; but the demand for them is minimal; no one wants to make extra moves. In the era of "revelry" and lawlessness of business, it turns out that a broken flexible eyeliner can also bring income; only the consumer suffers from leaks, but he, this same consumer, anyway, no matter where he goes and will come for a new, exactly the same flexible eyeliner, instead of a burst one. In addition, along with a new eyeliner, a consumer who has “sipped grief” can also be imposed with an expensive leak protection system, which, supposedly, is able to completely protect the consumer from the troubles associated with leaks; And this is instead of a reliable eyeliner. More recently (two years), water connections appeared on sale, in which a polymer tube is used instead of a rubber hose; the marking - PEX, on the eyeliner tags, indicates the presence of a polymer tube. The short service life of polymer liners does not yet allow a fairly objective assessment of their reliability.

Recently, flexible water pipes have been introduced with labels indicating that the pipe is insured. The photo shows a flexible water supply insured by RESO. Perhaps someone will naively decide that now there will be no problems after the rupture of the eyeliner; but he is deeply mistaken. The indication of insurance only says that flexible piping has become more expensive by the amount that the insurance company takes for its services. Good income! It is alarming that the information on the recommended service life of these eyeliners was removed from the tags on the eyeliners. Instead, it's a guarantee. The warranty period can now be a month, a week, or one day. Carefully study the obligations of the parties in order to have an idea of the real state of affairs.

I had to witness the fulfillment of such warranty obligations by the trading organization. The tank of the electric storage water heater burst; as a result of which three floors of a residential building were flooded with water. Trouble! The owner, upset, calls the service department and, in his hearts, expresses everything that is in his soul and what he thinks about the manufacturer; without hesitation in expressions. We must pay tribute to the service workers - they behave extremely tactfully: they apologize and assure that in the very near future (within an hour) all misunderstandings will be settled. Surprised by such a kind attitude, the owner himself apologizes and we begin to look forward to a happy resolution of the conflict; Moreover, the affected neighbors are also interested in this permission. In less than an hour, the doorbell rang and two amiable young men brought into the apartment a brand new water heater, similar to the defective one. Young people, having unscrewed two nuts of flexible connections, immediately removed the leaky water heater from the wall (they didn’t even have to drain it; all the water poured out into the crack) and hung a new one on the wall. They screwed the eyeliner nuts into place and ask the owner to sign their act that he has no claims. Stunned by such a service, the owner, and indeed all those present, objects: how can I have no complaints, but a leak; Three floors filled! Young people, in turn, are surprised: what does the leak have to do with it? Tank warranty. Here is a new tank on the wall, and the leak does not concern them. Iron logic; don't say anything. So, at best, it will be with a flexible water supply; if you still manage to prove that you used it correctly, they will replace it for free; only, it is unlikely that such an approach will bring you joy.

Your safety depends only on yourself, and if good relations with your neighbors are dear to you, then a few tips that are not difficult to follow will help you strengthen them. Only careful attention to your small in-house plumbing system will help you minimize the occurrence of possible emergencies. This wish applies to all components of your system, but, especially, it applies to flexible liner; being the weakest link. Despite the assurances of the manufacturer in the long service life of their flexible eyeliners; this is wrong. The service life of the eyeliner depends on a lot of factors, and the primary ones are - the quality of the materials used in the manufacture and the correct installation; without creases and twisting. I advise you, from time to time, to take an interest in the appearance and condition of your flexible eyeliners. If you do such an inspection at least once every six months, then with a probability of 99% can prevent leaks.

I think everyone has seen flexible eyeliner; how it looks new. High-quality flexible eyeliner, made by eminent companies, will retain its appearance even after many years; just covered in dust. On low-quality flexible eyeliners, small dark spots appear over time; these spots indicate that microcracks have already appeared in these places. Such spots appear, most often, in places of creases and in places of twisting of the eyeliner; where the line is at its most stressed. In addition to the appearance of spots, low-quality flexible eyeliner begins to lose integrity. The braid wire starts to break and the braid begins to “fluff”. The protruding wire, most often, is the reason for the rupture of the flexible hose. The wire sticks out not only outside, but also inside and pierces the hose. If you find one of the defects described above, then the flexible eyeliner must be replaced as soon as possible.

Dark spots on a flexible eyeliner are always noticeable, but a “fluffy” braid is not always noticeable; only if obvious gaps have already appeared; small gaps in the twilight are difficult to notice. To carefully check the integrity of the metal braid, I always use some kind of cloth, preferably soft; there are always a lot of them next to the kitchen sink. I wrap a flexible eyeliner with a cloth and run it along its entire length. If the rag slides without encountering obstacles, everything is in order; but, if the rag clings to the braid, this is a signal that you urgently need to go to the store and change the eyeliner. Never check the integrity of the eyeliner by running it with your bare hand. Braid wire gives painful wounds, besides, the braid is always covered with dust and the wound can be complicated by inflammation.

There is another sign of imminent trouble - when formations begin to appear near the union nut, like dried foam; but such formations, fortunately, are now very rare; they appeared when pressed fittings with a union nut were made of silumin. With flexible gas connections, the situation is similar, but the safety requirements are somewhat stricter. Damaged metal braid of a gas flexible hose and protruding wire can cause much more trouble than in a water supply. The water will flow and dry up, no matter how unpleasant it is; but if the gas "leaks" and explodes, the consequences will be completely different. Gas flexible pipes, in a metal braid, are not allowed to be used to connect kitchen gas stoves with electric ignition.

I won't take up your time anymore; use it, better, to inspect your flexible eyeliners.

Recommendations for installation and maintenance of

Product warranty and the manufacturer's responsibility are stopped and automatically become invalid if these recommendations are not observed for the installation and use of

Verify that the performance of the product described in the technical data sheet meets the needs of the installation in which it will be installed.

TUCAI has the product quality mark on the stainless steel sleeve. Ensure that the product complies with the legal requirements in force (health regulations and mechanical performance) in the country where the product is installed. In case of doubt, please contact the TUCAI distributor of the country in which the flexible connector will be installed.

All of our flexible hose assemblies are tested. However, some damage may occur during transport, handling and storage.

Before installing the flexible connector, always check that the sleeve is correctly pressed. If in any doubt, do not install the flexible connector.

Faucet connection: hand screw the male connector, making sure the O-ring is mounted correctly. No need to use any key.

Hand screw the nuts, making sure the seal is correct.

Do not use unsuitable tools that could damage the product.

Flexible connectors must be installed in an open position; they must not go through the wall.

Do not mount the hose assembly against a wall with a hard finish that could cause braid fraying or near sharp corners.

To obtain proper operation, always install a flexible connector with an elbow or a straight section of sufficient length before the bend (1. 5-2 times the outside diameter).

Please note the minimum bending radius specified for each diameter. If for TWIST or O2B hoses the bend radius is lower, please check the specific parameters.

Minimum bending radius (mm)

DN6 25
DN8 30
DN11 35
DN13 45
DN15 55
DN19 70
DN25 100
DN30 190
DN40 230
DN50 300

Make sure the correct hose assembly length is set. Two hose assemblies do not fit straight end to end under any circumstance.

Use the appropriate overall length.

Do not install flexible connectors so that they are stretched or twisted.

Introducing chemicals into the system or unit can damage the inner core of the hose. Consult a water treatment professional for chemical compatibility before using any chemical additives.

Our flexible hose assemblies are primarily for water use. Fluid compatibility varies with temperature and concentration; therefore it is very important that the actual fluid compatibility is determined by the end user.

Fluid in contact with the inner material hose must have the following specifications to prevent premature wear or malfunction:

  • The pH of the liquid is between 6 and 8. The liquid must be free from:
    • ammonium or other ammonia products,
    • chlorides and sulfates
  • Any supplement should be neutral in terms of PH.
  • additives based on amino acids and mineral oil should not be used.

Prolonged contact with detergents or harsh chemicals can damage the braid and cause leakage.

Any installation using flexible hose assemblies must be tested before commissioning at 1.5 times the working pressure.

After the connector is installed, review the installation for possible leakage.

Periodically check the condition of the flexible connector and replace it if there is any damage or if the sheath is torn or worn.

For indoor use only, do not expose to direct sunlight.

Rinse the hose assembly with clean water after 3 months without use.

Do not reuse hose kits in other appliances once they are installed.

Replace braided inlet hose assembly if not used for one year. The retention of water over a long period may adversely affect the product in terms of the taste of drinking water.

Periodically check the condition of the flexible hose assemblies and replace them if there is any damage, tear or wear to the braid. If any damage is found, such as broken wires, replace the product.

In case you need to install thermal insulation over any flexible connection, make sure you use self-adhesive pipes of the correct type of insulation.

The "sheet" (layer) type of insulation is not recommended due to the need for a special adhesive to fix the insulation to the flexible connector. The use of any type of adhesive to fix the insulation to the surface of the flexible connector is strictly prohibited. The use of adhesive can cause irreparable damage to the outer materials of the connector.

In addition to these installation warnings, the Instructions for Use, tips and warnings given by the insulation manufacturer must be strictly observed.

Never insulate a flexible connector with galvanized steel braid (River range).

Check the grounding of household appliances (air conditioners, hot tub, etc.) connected by flexible connectors, as any electrical dispersion can corrode the flexible connector.

Flexible connectors are designed for transporting water in distribution systems for hot and cold water, including drinking water, as well as in hot water systems for heating. Hose lines are specially designed to connect appliances/devices to the water supply network at the end point of use.
