How do I know if I need an alignment? How do I know if I need an alignment?

Here are some common indicators that your vehicle may be out of alignment.

If you're unsure or recognizing any of the below symptoms, swing by your local Belle Tire for a FREE Alignment check.

  • Your vehicle is pulling to the right or left
  • Rapid or uneven tire wear
  • Steering wheel is crooked when driving straight
  • Tires are making a squealing sound

What is a wheel alignment?

Sometimes called a front-end alignment, this adjustment is made to make sure your vehicle tracks straight and true whenever it’s in motion. Proper alignment is a delicate balancing act encompassing power, acceleration, steering, braking and suspension. It involves adjusting the camber (outward or inward tilt of the tires), caster (front or rear tilt), and toe (direction of the tires when viewed from above). It helps ensure that when the wheels are quickly rotating, there’s no unwanted drift from side-to-side or up-and-down vibrations.

Why does my vehicle go out of alignment?

There are many reasons your vehicle may go out of alignment. 1. Potholes and road impact such as hitting a curb. 2. Steering and suspension issues. 3. Wear from aging suspension parts.

How often should I get a wheel alignment?

In general, wheels alignments should be done about every six months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first. But, if you notice your vehicle unintentionally veering left or right or experiencing odd vibrations, it’s time to get things checked out. Another time to definitely have an alignment is when you’re replacing your tires. Having them properly balanced and aligned when new will help maintain even tread wear from the get-go.

What are the benefits of a wheel alignment?

Wheels that are out of alignment can create excessive, uneven wear on your tires. If a mis-aligned wheel tries to move in a different direction than intended, this works against normal tread wear. It can cause the tread to disappear early and unevenly. Keeping your alignment true helps the treads last longer and helps eliminate any loss of traction that might result from premature tread wear. Not to mention, poor alignment can also negatively affect your suspension and can cause excessive play in the steering wheel. Quite simply, a properly aligned vehicle is a safer vehicle.

Tire rotationTire rotation

This is another important element of tire maintenance, performance and safety. “Rotating your tires” doesn’t mean rolling forward a few feet, it has to do with routinely repositioning your tires in specific patterns from front to back or side to side. Depending on the type and manufacturer, regular tire rotation may even be a condition for keeping your tires covered under warranty.

What is a tire rotation?

Periodically changing the positions of each tire on your vehicle is better known as a “tire rotation”. Your vehicle and tire manufacturers will have recommendations for how often and in what direction to move the tires.

How often should I get my tires rotated?

The answer to this question can vary depending on the type of tires you have and whether your vehicle is front-, rear- or all-wheel drive. Every 5000 miles, or whenever you go in for an oil change, is a good rule of thumb to follow for when to get your tires rotated.

What are the benefits of a tire rotation?

When your tires are routinely rotated, wear is spread evenly across all four tires, which helps maximize tread life. Each specific position on your vehicle requires something different from each tire. This can lead to more (or less) wear depending on the tire’s position. More even tread wear keeps the tread depth on your tires uniform to help keep handling and traction consistent. This can help deliver improved cornering, braking and overall safety. Regular rotations also lets you or a technician visually inspect the tires for damage. You can also check the air pressure, have them rebalanced if you’re noticing some vibration, even check their tread depth.

Tire balancing Tire balancing

This service properly adjusts the tire weight distribution around the vehicle. Balancing is an important service that’s recommended to help you get better vehicle performance and more miles out of your tires.

Why do tires become un-balanced?

Tires can become unbalanced in a variety of different ways. Cold temperatures can cause your tires to deflate so much that they can become unbalanced. Another common reason for tire imbalance is the loss of a wheel weight. This happens when you’re driving at high speeds and hit a speed bump, pothole or curb.

Benefits of properly balanced tires

Properly balanced tires help deliver a smooth ride and more even tread wear. This can extend the life of your tires and provide added safety. Over time, tires lose balance, so it’s a good idea to have the service performed every 6 months or 6,000 miles.

Frequently asked questions

  • Should I replace 2 tires or 4 tires?

As a general rule, we recommend replacing all four tires at the same time. However, sometimes you may only need to replace two of your tires. If this is the case, we recommend mounting the new tires on the rear axle. This will add traction and increase the overall safety of your vehicle.

  • How can I make my money go farther?

A first glance, it might seem like the best value tire is the one that costs less. But instead of looking at up-front costs, it might be worth looking at the cost over time. When we break down the cost-per-mile, a higher quality tire might end up being the better value. Not to mention improved ride quality, superior handling and enhanced safety. Depending on your driving habits, spending a bit more now could save you money down the road.

Tire Installation Services & Packages

Tire Installation Package

Belle Tire is a proud leader in tires and wheels in Michigan, northern Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Our team of automotive experts is committed to getting you "Out The Door" with our tire installation package. The fee for installation includes the following free services:

Free Lifetime alignment checks
Bring your vehicle in anytime for a free alignment check. Your car's wheel alignment is essential to extending your tires’ and wheels' performance, and is vital to its steering performance. Your alignment should be checked every six months or 6,000 miles to keep your tires in perfect parallel. This will help maximize the life of your tires and lower the cost of long-term maintenance.

Free Lifetime tire rotations
Regular rotations help achieve more uniform tread wear on all your tires. Your vehicle owner's manual is the best resource for a recommended rotation pattern. We recommend having this service every 6,000 to 8,000 miles, or sooner if uneven tread wear begins to appear. If uneven tread wear is apparent, it is best to have one of our experts check and correct any alignment or other mechanical problems before rotation. This is true for both front-wheel and rear-wheel drive vehicles. Full-size spare tires should be included in the rotation pattern for your vehicle. Compact spares (temporary use spares) should not be included in the rotation pattern.

Free Lifetime spin balancing
Every time a tire is fitted to a wheel, it should be balanced. At high speeds, tires generate enormous centrifugal forces. Even tiny irregularities are multiplied by many orders of magnitude. Such imbalance stresses tires and suspension. This weight irregularity is tested and balanced by Belle Tire. Free Lifetime Spin Balancing does not apply to seasonal tire changeovers.

Free Lifetime flat repairs
You can count on us when you need free flat repairs. We'll fix your tire and get you back on the road.

Free Tire disposal
We'll properly dispose of your old tires in an environmentally sound manner by recycling them.

Free Mounting
Your tires are professionally mounted by Belle Tire's expert tire installers. After initial tire mounting, charges will apply for seasonal tire changeovers.

Free Rubber valve stems
Although a small part of the tire and wheel assembly, the rubber valve stem is one of the most important parts. The rubber valve stem is what keeps the air in the tire. If the valve stem doesn't seal properly or leaks, the loss of air pressure can cause the tire to go flat or run hot.

Free Hand torque of wheels
Many stores rely only on an air wrench to mount your tires and wheels. At Belle Tire, we go one step further, by hand torquing each lug nut to ensure that your tire and wheel assembly are securely fastened.

Find the location nearest you and speak with one of our tire experts today about the features and benefits of our installation package.

If the car has poor handling or stability - this is the first sign that the corners are not accurately adjusted, exactly those under which the wheels of the car should be directly located. This problem in the car is also called as the resulting violations collapse wheel alignment. Correct toe wheels is a guarantee that your car will be stable on the roads. To determine the correct wheel alignment , you need to calculate the difference between the rims front wheel position and rear wheel position. Such measurements must be carried out between the same points of the wheels at the height of their center. If they are not normal, then it is necessary to adjust this convergence, but in order to in order to accurately determine the convergence point, it is necessary to use special equipment, which is always used by car service stations, which we are. Our masters first of all check the fastening of the steering linkage of the lever to the rack and how strong it is. As well as the connection of cones, fingers, steering rods, camber, etc. If you have already repaired the chassis of your car, then do not hinder the implementation of camber toe , by adjusting it.

How are the wheels adjusted? By changing the length of the side steering rods. For this First, our specialists loosen the clamps and adjusting couplings by turning them in opposite directions, which changes the length of the side rods. After that, the clamps are tightened again so that after tightening their ends did not touch each other.

But in order to carry out the camber, it is necessary to make sure that the tires have normal pressure air. In this case, the tires should not be worn out and the disks should be bent and the steering wheel should be free to move. And before checking the collapse itself, our master will initially check for serviceability the hinges of the levers, ball joints, shock absorber rods, and Only then will he begin to check the camber of the wheels. Camber he will check using the number of spacers between the cross member or the turn of the eccentric and the axis of the lower arm.

That we will answer exactly - our car service is waiting for you, because alignment collapse , can only be carried out at the stand! After all, the collapse of the convergence has not a great cost, so do not save on your safety and it's not worth it. And do not believe those who tell you that they can adjust the installation angles even without special equipment - this is simply not realistic. Since the difference is only 0.5 degrees, end sadly for you, as if it can be done only at the stand. We carry out wheel alignment for various vehicles. We make gathering collapse in all districts of Moscow: Southern Administrative District, ZAO, SAO, SVAO, Central Administrative District, SZAO, SEAD, SWAD, VAO. Therefore, please contact because wheel alignment does not have a big price for us, and repairs after an accident will cost much more than your car.

Camber

At certain runs, the car suspension requires preventive measures. One of which is the adjustment of wheel alignment angles or, more simply, wheel alignment.

The correct setting of the camber and toe angles ensures the controllability and directional stability of the car. The process of maneuvering is facilitated and the tendency to drift is reduced. Wheel alignment on cars also affects tire wear and fuel consumption.

We recommend adhering to the following frequency of wheel alignment adjustment on cars - 1 time per year or 1 time in 15 thousand kilometers. This will maintain the standard wheel alignment and extend the life of suspension components and tires. However, there are situations when unplanned intervention is required:

  • Uneven tire wear
  • After work on the replacement of suspension elements (tips, levers, etc.)
  • The car deviates from the given trajectory
  • The steering wheel is not level when moving in a straight line
  • After hitting an obstacle, falling into a deep hole
  • Steering wheel difficult to return to zero position

The Avtoremstroy service center has a specialized 3D stand for diagnosing and adjusting the wheel alignment. This stand allows you to accurately determine the position of the wheels and adjust their position according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
