Just soot and no racism

Not everyone knows, but the rubber compound is initially light. To get the black color familiar to everyone, a certain amount of carbon black is added to it. This is not done for aesthetic reasons, and not even because dirt is less noticeable this way. The fact is that soot significantly increases the strength of the finished product (almost a hundred times). Such a cheap component can save tires from premature wear, and it also effectively removes heat, which is also important for durability.

Killer tire to stay away from

In Ridley Scott's film Prometheus, a fragment of a spaceship resembling a large wheel crushed one of the heroines. Is this possible in reality? Among the largest truck tires, it is worth highlighting the Michelin dimensions 59/80 R63. The height of the gigantic tire is more than four meters, and it weighs five tons! If you imagine that something similar is rolling at you, then it is better to run somewhere to the side, and not directly, like the character of the mentioned blockbuster. The chance of surviving contact is zero, even if the wheel passes over you at a minimum speed. Such a truck tire is installed on mining dump trucks BelAZ, CAT, Liebherr, capable of transporting up to 380 tons.

Continuing the theme of huge trucks and tires for them, it is worth mentioning that at speeds over 22 km / h, diagnostic tires heat up to critical temperatures. Sometimes the heating reaches 90 degrees, and smoldering centers form inside the tread structure. If you do not pay attention to this, theoretically the wheel may start to burn. With radial rubber, there are much fewer problems, but it also costs significantly more for such giants.

Formally, the largest tire in the world is considered to be an 80-foot-tall tire, created specifically for the 1964 World's Fair. They even equipped booths in it, turning it into a kind of Ferris wheel. Later, the tire was transported to Michigan, where it was installed in Allen Park.

They are processed for the manufacture of various goods for which the requirements for materials are lower.
