After consideration of a set of proposals on the establishment of production, the decision of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan in March 2006 determined the start of a project to organize the production of all-steel steel tires on the territory of OAO Nizhnekamskshina, the investor of which is OAO Tatneft.
Tatneft is one of the largest Russian oil and gas, oil refining, oil producing and petrochemical holdings. In terms of oil production, Tatneft ranks sixth in Russia. OAO Nizhnekamskshina is the largest representative in the tire business of Tatneft. |
Nizhnekamskshina is the leading tire manufacturer in Russia, with a share of over 30% of the Russian tire market. The enterprise is capable of producing more than 150 tire sizes for any operating conditions, has an established production of mass and truck tires, modern sizes and designs, a qualified staff and an affordable raw material base.
In order to select a strategic partner for organizing a new production of all-steel tires, negotiations were held with the world's leading tire manufacturers. As a result, the choice fell on Continental, which focuses on the production of all-steel tires.
A technical assistance agreement was signed between Continental and Tatneft in January 2007, setting out the principles for the transfer of know-how and construction of the plant. For ten years from the date of signing the agreement, Continental will accompany the project.
The agreement determined the following nuances of the new production: - the number of tire sizes being mastered, - the conditions for training the personnel of the Nizhnekamsk plant, - the conditions for technical and production assistance, - the procedure for the production of products, - the transfer of documentation, including 15 specifications for tires.
At the same time, it was taken into account that in the future Continental is ready to work on an off-take system, that is, to place orders for the manufacture of tires at a new plant under its own brand.
Personnel training was carried out at the operating production of Continental in the city of Puchov (Slovakia). Continental also recommended purchasing process equipment from approved suppliers to Continental's specifications. The linkage of all equipment into a single technological chain and its layout was carried out by Continental.
The foundation stone of the SMC plant was laid on June 1, 2007. Delivery of the first equipment began in October 2008. The official opening of the plant took place in December 2009.

Rubber compounds for future tires are produced on high-performance mixers, intermeshing rotors, on German HFM equipment, which makes it possible to produce high-quality rubber compounds.
The electrical equipment for the control of the mixing lines was supplied by Siemens, the software is used to control the management of the visualization recipes and control the weights of the mixers.
Storage of rubber compounds is carried out in an automatic high-rise warehouse by Siemens, the passages from the mixing lines are connected to the UFT, the movement of pallets with rubber compounds in the high-rise warehouse is carried out by stacker cranes.
Extrusion lines for the production of tread, filler cord, sidewalls and small components are also made on German Berstorf equipment.
The width of the profile is measured with a photodiode camera with an accuracy of plus or minus two tenths of a millimeter, the weight of the profile is measured with a weighing accuracy of two grams. The thickness of the profile is checked by an autonomous multi-ton point laser measurement system.
Insulation production line is designed for the production of technological interlayer and its duplication, the width of the rubber sheet is measured under the assembly line using a photodiode camera, with an accuracy of plus or minus two tenths of a millimeter.
Steel cord rubberizing line with four roll calender imported from Italy. The system for measuring the thickness of rubber-coated metal cord and rubber layer makes it possible to measure the thickness with high accuracy using measuring heads without sources of X-ray and radioactive radiation.
Textile and metal cord cutting line from Germany is designed for cutting textile cord and metal cord into strips of a given width at the required angle with automatic joining.
Single-sided multi-drum assembly machines are used for tire assembly. The green tire transport system consists of three main parts:
Tire vulcanization is carried out on 77 hydraulic presses imported from the USA. X-ray installation allows you to control the design parameters: vacuum, folds, joints, displacement.
The transport of vulcanized tires is carried out using the Siemens transport system, which consists of conveyor elements and is fully controlled and controlled by a central PLC (programmable logic controller).
Since 2011, more than 15 standard sizes of KAMA tires have been mastered. Since the start of production, from June 2010 to March 2011, 149,900 tires have been produced. In 2011, the plant reaches its design capacity of 1,200,000 tires per year.
