Access to the group is restored differently than to the page (account). Usually, having lost access to our page, we restore it via SMS. But the group does not have a login and password. A group is not a page. She does not have SMS recovery. Some open the usual access recovery, paste a link to the group there and get the "User not found" error. That doesn't work. So be careful.

Ways to restore access to the group

1. Restoring access to the owner's page

Each group has an owner - the user (page, account) who has all rights in the group. Usually this is the page from which the group was created.

If the group owner page was yours, but you can't access it now, consider whether it can be restored first. The fastest way is via SMS to the linked phone number:

If the owner page is frozen, you need to unfreeze it. In the event that there is no linked number, but you can still enter the page with a login and password (it was just frozen due to a violation of the rules), VK allows you to use a different number when defrosting.

Even from a page that is frozen forever, you can write to support and ask to transfer the owner's rights to another person. To do this, you need to enter the page with a login and password through the full version of the site.

2. Transfer of rights to one of the administrators or editors

If access to the owner's page is lost forever, but there are other administrators, editors in the group, then on behalf of one of them you can write to agents and ask to transfer the owner's rights to yourself. The support service will find out all the circumstances. If they fail to contact the current owner within a certain time, and there are no other obstacles, the rights can be transferred (this does NOT mean that they will necessarily be transferred; all cases are considered individually).

If the person quit

In the event that the creator (owner, administrator) of the group no longer works in the organization, you need to find out if his page is active. If yes, then the easiest option is to agree with him to transfer the owner's rights to one of the other administrators or editors of the group (if there are none, then he first needs to appoint a group member as an administrator, and then transfer the rights). The transfer of rights is carried out through the menu item "Management" in the group, then "Participants → Managers". Please note that after the transfer of rights, the previous owner will have 2 more weeks, during which he can return them to himself.

If the page of the group owner is not active (blocked, he has lost access or just hasn’t accessed it for a long time), then you need to either contact support agents with a request to transfer rights to one of the remaining administrators (see above), or provide official documents (see below).

3. Provision of official documents from the organization

If the group is associated with an officially registered organization, business, you can provide the relevant documents to transfer the owner's rights to yourself (your active page). Make a request to agents to find out exactly what you need. Be patient, the whole process can take two weeks or more.

What documents are needed to restore rights to a group? In one of the examples from open sources, the following list was indicated requested by the VK administration:

• Official request on the letterhead of the organization with the seal and signature of the director
• Power of attorney in the name of the employee (VK user) with a list of powers
• Certificate OGRN
• Trademark certificate (if any)
• Placement of a special confirmation code 9 on one of the pages of the organization's website0016

If you are the owner (creator), then you can easily restore access to group management. Just re-enter it. This can be done at any time, and no one will forbid you from doing this. Keep in mind that this must be the same user who is the owner. After all, if you created a group on behalf of one page, and now you use another, then it has nothing to do with the owner of the group, even if the first and last name are the same.

If you are not an owner, but just an administrator or editor, then you cannot regain rights yourself, even if you accidentally left the group. First you need to join the group back, and then ask one of the current administrators to return your rights. Why is this done? It's such a defense. You can forget about the administrator who left the group, and if he suddenly returned with full rights, he could do bad things.

Owner and administrator are often confused. For example, an administrator thinks they are the owner, even though they are not. Yes, the administrator has many rights, but he is just assigned personnel. There can be several administrators, but only one owner. At any time, the owner can take away the rights from any of the administrators. On the contrary, the administrator cannot take away the rights from the owner.

How to return the group if the owner's rights have been transferred?

After transferring ownership to another person, you have 2 weeks to change your mind and return the group to you. During this time, in the notification center (bell button) there is a notice “You have appointed such and such a community owner ...” and a link “Return the community”. Go to the full version of VK to find it. If more than 14 days have passed, then it is no longer possible to return the group in this way.

Tips: how to stay safe and not lose access to the group

The owner is the creator of the community or one of its administrators to whom the creator has transferred his rights. This is a critical element of your community.

Do not take the security of the owner's page lightly, this is the risk of losing access to the group forever. The owner is the same administrator as the others, but only other administrators cannot take away the rights to the group from him, and only he can transfer the owner's rights to another administrator. In addition, only the owner can perform some community management actions - for example, transfer the group to public and vice versa.

• Take care of the owner's account. Its page should always be linked to a valid phone number. Follow all safety measures.
• Do not do anything on behalf of the owner's page for which they can be blocked. Do not break the rules of VK: do not send spam, invites to the group.
• Even if you do not use the owner's page, you must receive all messages that come in a personal account and be able to reply to them. It is recommended to enable notifications of new messages by email or SMS. The fact is that if one of the other administrators tries to send an application with a request to transfer the rights of the owner to him, then the VK administration will contact the current owner to find out the circumstances of the case. And if they do not receive a response within two weeks, the owner's rights can be transferred to another person.
• If the person who is the owner is no longer involved in managing the group, ask them to transfer the owner rights to you. This is done in the group management, in section "Members → Managers".
• If the group is owned by an organization, you need to double check who is assigned as its owner. This should not be an employee who is unable to ensure the security of his account, and even more so a former employee who has already been fired.
• Be careful about appointing administrators. These should be people you fully trust. If there are extra people in the administrators, you need to remove them from there. And if a person will only publish materials or act as a moderator, there is no need to make him an administrator; it is enough to issue the rights of the editor.

Group, public VKontakte is not displayed in the search

Created a community (group or public) VKontakte, but it is not displayed in the search, cannot be found by name. What is the reason? Why is it not? When will it appear there? What needs to be fixed?

Root cause

Your group or public may have an age limit of 16+ or 18+ in your settings, even though there is no "adult" content. Later it turns out that the group is not displayed in the VKontakte safe search, and in the iPhone and iPad application it does not even open via the link - a message is displayed:

The fact is that Apple (the manufacturer of iPhones) is strict about "adult" materials and requires them to be hidden in applications, regardless of the user's age. Therefore, VKontakte developers are forced to do this in their application. And in the search on the VK site, such a group can be found only by unchecking the Safe search - not everyone will notice it, since it is at the very end of the search parameters.

If you set an age limit in a group, you voluntarily inform that your group should be hidden. Without fully understanding what exactly you are doing, you will not close the group from teenagers, but only prevent all normal people from entering it.

If there is no adult content in the group, go to Manage (in the full version of VK) and in the "Additional Information" settings section, click Specify age restrictions:

Then select the option Up to 16 years old, to remove the restriction, and click Save.

This should solve the problem. But keep in mind that a group may appear in the search not immediately, but after some time.

Other possible reasons

• The community was created quite recently and has a very small audience (few members, subscribers). For some time now, such groups have not been included in the search in order to reduce the amount of spam.
• The time the group appears in the search may depend on the frequency of its name (competitiveness). For example, if it is simply called "Dating", then it may not appear in the search for a long time, but if "Dating in the village of Pochinok" it will appear faster.
• Not enough content. Create several posts (records) in the group. At least 5 pieces. Add hashtags to posts (the # sign and a word indicating the topic of the post - for example, #vkontakte, #interesting), but only a little, no more than 10 (if more, they will not work).
• Some material (for example, a photo) was posted in the group, which was recognized by VKontakte systems as intended for adults, or as spam, or there was another violation of the site rules in the group. As a result, the group was excluded from the safe search, and in order to return it there, you will have to write a request to support agents.
• There are too many bots or blocked users (dogs) in the group. Remove them from the members and write a request to agents asking them to return the group to the search.

Tips: what to do to make the group appear in the search

• Invite members (subscribers) from among your friends to the group. Let at least 10 people join (subscribe). But you can’t abuse it, that is, invite a lot of friends - your page can be frozen for this.
• In the name of the group and in all texts, put spaces after commas and periods.
• Don't write in CAPITAL LETTERS, even if you think it's BETTER.
• The group may not be displayed in the search if the description contains links to external sites or if the name contains some special characters (not letters or numbers, but various embellishments) - remove them.
