How to make an atv flag holder

ATV Flags And Mounts | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC

There’s nothing quite like a good day of shredding sand at the dunes. Of course, the right equipment can make all the difference. For example, sand-specific tires can be the difference between ecstasy and frustration. ATV flags fall right in line with necessary equipment because they are required by law.

Part of the fun of riding in rolling dunes comes from climbing crest after crest. However, another quad can very well be coming in the opposite direction. In a worst-case scenario, two ATVs reach the top of the dune at the same time from different directions, resulting in a horrific crash. The solution? ATV flags. Attached to a pole, the flag alerts other riders of quads that are nearby. They’re perfect to solve the visibility problem that comes inherent with riding in the dunes.

At Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, we carry a variety of flags, poles and pole holders. We recognize that whip flags aren’t just about safety – they’re also about personal expression. That’s why we offer flags in a variety of styles, from patriotic American flags to the hard-core skull-and-crossbones image.

ATV flags fit right up toward the top of the list of things never to leave home without. Take a look at our selection, choose one that fits your particular style, and order it today!

Quick Release Not Tight Enough By Hand.

I like it ok, thought I could get it tight enough by hand so it wouldn?t slip, need a wrench. Better than needing two wrenches. Quick release, I assumed not needing a tool.

Best ATV Flag Options - ATV.

com

If it’s been a minute since you’ve shopped for a new ATV flag, you might be floored to see just how many options are on the market today.

An ATV flag is an essential bit of safety equipment in some circumstances. For a lone person on a small vehicle, visibility will always be a concern. Flying a flag that extends well above the overall height of ATV plus rider helps others spot you sooner when you’re on the other side of a hill or obscured by trees and rocks. What’s more, most state-run ORV parks require that you mount an ATV flag before you enter – and it’s a good thing, too, because you’ll probably be sharing the space with full-size off-road rigs. You may be strong, but you and your ATV are still no match for 4,000 pounds of lifted Jeep Wrangler.

So, an ATV safety flag is a necessity if you ever plan on riding on public dunes, but with such a dizzying number of options available, how do you choose the best ATV flag for the money? We’ve done the busywork for you. Here, we’ve rounded up the best ATV flag options on the market today, including essential accessories like mounts and poles, so you can get what you need quickly, install it, and get back to riding.

Editors Choice: Fly Racing Straight Mount Safety Flag

This Fly Racing Straight Mount Safety Flag is a solid, affordable option to help boost your visibility on the dunes or trails. Its main selling point is its long, 8-foot fiberglass pole, which gives it just enough height to meet most parks’ flag heigh requirements. The pole splits into two sections for easier storage and transportation, and owner reviews are generally very positive – although some have noted that the orange pennant flag itself may be of limited use, as many states require a rectangular safety flag for public dune access. The pole is 5/16” in diameter, making it plenty strong and ensuring that it will fit many of the most popular ATV flag mount designs.

2. ATV Safety Flags and Mounts 6-Foot Solid Orange Safety Flag

Good enough to meet the ATV safety flag requirements of most sand dune ORV parks, this ATV flag from ATV Safety Flags and Mounts is a tremendous option. It features a rectangular orange flag measuring 18 by 12 inches, and a white two-piece plastic pole that stands a full 6 feet in length. Some parks require that safety flags be flown at a height of at least 10 feet off the ground, so with a 6-foot pole mounted in the proper location you should be within regulation. The owner reviews are overwhelmingly positive, and while this ATV whip flag is supplied with a traditional bolt mount, it should also fit most off-the-shelf ATV flag mount options on the market.

3. Country Ent. Safety Flag

Are you looking for something a bit more all-in-one? Check out this ATV safety flag from Country Ent. It ships with an orange pennant-style ATV safety flag, a stainless-steel pole that extends to 62 inches in length, and a spring-loaded base and mounting bracket. Bear in mind: that 62-inch length won’t be enough to meet the requirements of all ORV parks, but depending on how high off the ground your bumper sits, it will be sufficient for some. Being made of stainless, the pole won’t ever snap or succumb to rust, so you can count on years of reliable service, and the kit includes basically everything you should need to equip the necessary high-visibility flag on your ATV.

How Do You Attach an ATV Flag?

There is no one right way to attach an ATV flag to your ride, but some methods work better than others. Keep in mind: if you’re heading to the sand dunes, where a safety flag is a legal requirement, there are specific rules about where on the vehicle the flag must be mounted. On ATVs, this is usually the rear bumper, but check the regulations of your park to be sure. Where things get a bit tricky is that some ATV flag products – for instance, the Fly Racing Straight Mount Safety Flag listed above – ship with included mounting hardware, while others do not. Either way, beyond the mounting hardware, you will also need some sort of mounting bracket for affixing the ATV flag mount to the bumper. That’s really the first question you need to answer: how to best secure the mounting bracket to the bumper. Alternatively, if your ATV has a tubular rear bumper element, like a rear brush guard, you may just be able to use a whip light/flag mount made for tubular UTV roll cages, like the kemimoto mount above. That spares you having to drill and/or fasten a mounting bracket directly onto your bodywork. After the bracket is secured, installing the flag is simply a matter of finding a suitable ATV flag mount, removing the fastener from the bottom, sitting it within the proper hole in the bracket, and tightening up the fastener. Depending on exactly which ATV flag you’re using, the flag pole will likely screw onto the mount, or sit securely within it. For convenience, in the future, you can simply uninstall the mount with the flag pole after you leave the park, leaving the bracket in place for a quick and easy setup next time.

Do I Need To Install An ATV Flag?

When riding in public, we never think it’s a bad idea to have an ATV flag installed. It makes your vehicle easier to spot if, say, you’re on the far side of a hill from another rider. This is especially true anywhere you might be sharing space with full-size trucks or SUVs – like the sand dunes. In fact, it’s legally required in most or all public parks with sand dunes that you wear an ATV safety flag on your vehicle, usually affixed to the rear bumper and extending at least a certain height above the ground – typically either 8 or 10 feet. Dunes are generally the only sort of terrain where safety flags are required and enforced, but it’s never a bad idea to check the regulations of your local park before you go and remember they’re required equipment on the dunes because they work. If the cost of installing a flag “unnecessarily” is the mild inconvenience of having to transport it and secure it to your ATV flag mount before you enter, that’s a small price to pay for a bit of extra visibility.

Do-it-yourself case for an ATV

Today, ATVs are very popular in the modern world. This is a small vehicle that looks a bit like a motorcycle, but the ATV has more than 2 wheels. Trunk - the luggage compartment of an ATV, it is designed to carry the necessary things. Panniers can be front and rear, rear panniers are more popular. Such wardrobe trunks cost a lot separately, so now I will tell you how to make such a wardrobe trunk with your own hands, while saving a lot of money.

In order to create a homemade trunk you will need:
- Foamed plastic or hard foam, there is not much difference here, you can choose any one, the thickness of which will be at least 10 mm, 6 mm can be on the bottom
- Glue for plastic
- Self-tapping screws
- Metal ruler (approximately 1-1.5 meters)
- Bulgarian
- Tools for fastening and fixing
- Screwdriver

If you do not have special tools for cutting plastic, you can take a regular clerical knife or blade. ATTENTION! if you cut plastic with a blade, wear a glove on your working hand, there are many cases when people cause mini-injuries to themselves by cutting themselves on the edge of the plastic.

To make your own ATV case, follow these steps:
1. The first step is to cut out the bottom for your future case. To do this, you need to measure the area where you want the trunk to be located, then all measurements must be transferred to foam or plastic and cut the bottom according to measurements using a grinder. All precautions should be observed, first of all, protect eyes, hands, clothes during work.
2. Once we have finished making the bottom, we need to make the side walls of the trunk. To do this, we measure again and, having received the necessary parameters, we transfer them to polystyrene or plastic and cut out the necessary pieces from polystyrene or plastic. Next, we fix them well to the bottom with screws and glue.
3. After gluing the side walls, it's starting to look like a trunk, the next step is to file all the edges so that we get smooth and even corners of the case.
4. Next, after processing the corners, we proceed to the lid of our trunk. In order to make the trunk lid, we again go to foam or plastic, measure the almost completed wardrobe trunk and transfer the resulting dimensions of the lid, cut it out with a grinder, observing all precautions. After we have received the desired piece of foam or plastic, we attach it to the already made wardrobe trunk with the help of hinges that are used in door structures, you can also use other materials for fastening at this stage, because the hinges can take up an amount of space in your case.
5. Now you have attached the case cover, at this stage you have already got a full-fledged case, but for the beauty and attractiveness of the trunk, as well as to match the color of your ATV, you should give the trunk a beautiful look. There are many options here on how to do this. You can paint it in the color of your ATV, you can paste over it with a film and there are many such options, but the choice is yours!

In addition to using hinges to secure the lid, other fastening materials can be used to secure the lid.

Also, for convenient storage and transportation of various substances and materials, the trunk can be divided into several parts, sections.
The most important thing in this business is not to be afraid to fantasize and experiment.

Do-it-yourself wardrobe trunk is suitable for unoccupied people at a certain point in time, because. for the manufacture of a high-quality trunk for an ATV, it is worth considering that a lot of time will be spent. But there is a plus in making a case with your own hands. The upside is that you will save a lot of money, which in the future can be used to develop your future or to fulfill your dreams. For manufacturing, you will need the ability to work with devices, patience and perseverance. But believe me, all this cannot be compared with the fact that in the future you will be proud of yourself, looking at him and saying to yourself "What a good fellow I am that I did it with my own hands!" And in the future it can become your paid hobby!

Good luck to everyone in this business, may you get the most luxurious trunks for your ATVs!!!

Options for attaching flags to a flagpole

In today's world, there are many ways to attach any flag. The structures can be fixed to the wall at an angle of 60° or 90°. For fastening, as a rule, screws are used.

Facade flagpoles are used to decorate buildings. Metal brackets are highly resistant to wind loads. From 1 to 3 flags can be inserted into the facade flagpole.

Stationary structures are also installed on the streets. As a rule, they are fixed on metal or concrete bases.

    Fixing methods

You can choose one of the common fixing methods for flags. Proper installation is the key to the success of an advertising or information campaign.

    1. Mast attachment. On the left or right side, the panel is reinforced with a banner tape. Loops with carabiners are sewn to it. You can also install eyelets. The distance between adjacent fasteners is at least 50 cm. The canvas is tucked around the perimeter and processed with 1-2 lines.

    2. Mast mount with banner arm. A pocket with a diameter of 3-5 cm is made in the upper part of the flag and sewn up on one side. A special banner tape is inserted on the left or right side. Loops with carabiners are sewn to it or eyelets are placed every 50 cm. Along the perimeter, the material is tucked and processed with 1 or 2 lines.

    3. Pole mount. On the left side, a pocket is made with a diameter of 2. 5-3 cm. In the upper part, it is processed with lines. Then the product is tucked around the perimeter.

    Fasteners

    1. Flagpole pockets for flags . With the help of this fastener element, the product is put on the shaft. Fixation is carried out using a loop. You can also sew a pocket at the top. Its width is usually determined by the diameter of the shaft.

    2. Hinges. This type of mount is suitable for outdoor flagpoles. For the manufacture of loops use a belt tape.

    3. Metal half rings. This method is suitable for street flagpoles. A belt tape with metal half rings located at the ends is sewn along the bearing edge.

    4. Carabiners. The banner tape, equipped with loops and carbines, is sewn along the fastening side of the panel.

    5. Metal eyelets. Rings are universal fasteners for flags. They are installed on the same side with corsage or banner tape. Grommets allow you to mount the flag on a wall or mast.
