Spintires: MudRunner is a fantastic game and one well worthy of the praise it received previously. It comes with some fine physics, textures, graphics and realism – more so than we’ve ever seen in any off-road title – and that ensures it is one you should be playing at the earliest opportunity.
In the end Sprintires: Mudrunner is a pretty good game, more simulation than just driving, and it definitely isn’t for everyone given the fact that it really does feel like a niche title, but don’t let that scare you, as it still is a fairly good game even though it’s not a mainstream title.
Spintires: Mudrunner has a tiny 1. 1GB install because there's really not much too it. There are no peasants wandering the woods or working at the lumber yards. No other vehicles hauling lumber or otherwise in motion. The fauna has become extinct and only birds remain. It feels like you are the sole survivor in a post apocalyptic USSR where the cold war turned nuclear hot. Which begs the question: why you are hauling lumber? And for whom?
With its pedestrian pace and delivery objectives, Mudrunner won’t appeal to an awful lot of people, but that doesn’t stop it being a fun and often relaxing experience.
Spintires: Mudrunner is an interesting game in a genre nobody knew existed. Believe it or not, there has been previous games in this series. It is a niche title landing at an inopportune time. Released when the flow of Fall releases are not flooding the market might have helped its chances. However, anyone who digs in is sure to find a gem buried underneath the mud.
Spintires: MudRunner is utterly unique, and as a driving simulator of a niche field it is basically unparalleled. However, the difficulty level and lack of pace are likely going to make it a very niche game, while the camera is an extra challenge in itself. Still, there’s grit, determination, freedom and reward to be found here for those ready to wade in.
Too many problems bury Mudrunner's ambitions, comprising lack of contents, gameplay problems and an underwhelming presentation. A real pity, as an heavy off-road vehicles sim like this one could have been very interesting to play.

In Mudrunner you play as a logger where your job is to move logs from point A to point B but that is easier said than done. If you want to successfully accomplish this you will need to scout out best paths with a light vehicle, move assets such as fuel and loaders into place, then move the logs from point A to point B.
Casual Mode. In this mode fuel is consumed slower, you do not need to babysit the differential, you can auto load logs onto your truck and if need be you can spawn your vehicle to the nearest garage. Speaking of the garage, some need to be unlocked to use by hauling garage parts to the garage which can be a real chore in and of itself.
Hardcore Mode. This is where the game really shines as a work and physics sim. Fuel is consumed at a higher rate making it necessary to preposition assets such as fuel. The differential can only be used in low gear and will damage the truck if kept on while on firm surfaces. You must manually load logs onto the truck which will require you to preposition a loader. The loader is a bit finicky and requires a bit of trial and error to become proficient at using it. You cannot spawn vehicles back to the garage so pulling stuck vehicles from the mud will become necessary.
The game takes place in a rain forest where dirt roads tend to have muddy patches and even places like meadows can be a safe shortcut or turn into a bog where you become stuck with no anchor-point for your wench to reach thus requiring you to bring over another vehicle to tow it out. Ruts will pull your vehicle around, rocks will scrape on the underside of the vehicle causing damage, and the mud looks and and acts like mud should. There is also a day/night cycle and it gets very dark at night.
The game can be difficult but here are a couple tips that will make the journey much easier even on Hardcore Mode. 1) When carrying a load it is generally best to be in low gear as it will make getting stuck less likely. Be sure to switch the differential on and off as necessary as the differential helps a lot. 2) Scout the area with a light vehicle and unlock other vehicles on the map by driving to them. Also use the light vehicle to drive to watch-points which reveal large portions of the map for easier navigation. 3) Drive slow and carefully and you will not have much need to repair vehicles although vehicles that you unlock on map may need to be repaired and fueled. Also going to the garage will fully repair your vehicle plus give you some fuel. 4) Plan your routes carefully and use waypoints. When in doubt scout out the path before committing to it.
This is a great game but will likely only be appealing to a niche market. The game is in my opinion as close to flassless as a game can get and for that reason I give Mudrunners a score of 10.… Expand

I love this game and everything about it. It seems like one of those really good underrated games.
Alot of fun, the steering takes practice but it's more realistic for sure, its a great strategy driving game for any off road fan .

When I first started the game it was like nothing I’d ever played before and I must admit that I quite enjoyed it. The physics which are important in a game like this have been done very well, and I appreciated the realistic approach they implemented in the game. The puzzles in the game are something that really impressed me, and the main reason they impressed me so much is because they are interesting and you have to complete them in an interesting and unique way. If you like a game that is packed with content then you will love this game, but I must warn you that it’s best played in short bursts because it does become tedious if played for long periods and that’s mainly down to the extremely slow driving. I will say however that the game doesn’t get tedious much when played online, and thankfully the online has quite a few player’s playing and I didn’t suffer with many problems. The main problems I had with the game came from the terrible camera. The camera in the game is probably the worst I’ve ever seen and it caused me a great deal of frustration because to call it awkward would be a massive understatement. The presentation side of the game is something that I was a little disappointed with. Visually the game is dull and doesn’t look great at times, and the accompanying sound design does nothing to make the game stand out and often doesn’t sound realistic enough. At the end of the day Spintires: Mudrunner is a game that can definitely be called niche, and without a doubt it won’t appeal to all gamers. I will say however that if you would like to try something different then I fully recommend that you give this game a try because it definitely has a unique feel to it and the most important thing is that it nails the mechanics, and for that reason it gets a thumbs up from me. … Expand

The air temperature is gradually dropping, in some regions residents have already seen the first snowfall. With the onset of the cold season, every car owner thinks about changing summer tires to winter ones. When exactly should this be done and how temperature affects the grip of one or another type of rubber with the road - says the Moscow 24 portal.
Auto reviewer Igor Morzharetto notes that it is recommended to "already have winter tires on the axle when the average daily temperature drops below 0 degrees." In his opinion, it can be difficult to guess such a moment, even if you regularly read forecasts. The expert advises changing tires now, since there is no hype in tire fittings yet, and you can save a lot of time. Autoexpert Roman Gulyaev agreed with him. “If you go now, you will save time and money, because the cost will be higher during the season,” he said.
Nadezhda Churmeeva, executive director of the Association of Tire Manufacturers, noted that the general recommendation is to change tires when the average daily temperature reaches +7 degrees, since at such temperatures there is a possibility of night frosts, and there is a danger of ending up on ice on summer tires.
It is up to motorists to change tires with the first snow or not, there are no strict regulations here, but among drivers there is an unofficial day for changing summer tires - November 15th.
Whatever date drivers choose, from December 1 to the end of February, only winter tires are allowed. This refers to both tires with studs and without them, while they must be marked "M + S" (also found "M & S" or "M S") plus a badge depicting mountains and snowflakes.

First of all, winter and summer tires differ in the rubber compound used to make them. “Winter tires are softer in terms of the composition of the rubber compound, so they do not lose elasticity at low temperatures, their grip characteristics remain valid. And summer tires, since they are not so soft, harden, and road grip deteriorates,” Churmeeva explained.
In addition, the tread pattern is different for both types of tires. “While summer tires have more longitudinal ribs to drain water, winter tires usually have a tread pattern with many transverse grooves,” the expert added.
There are several factors to consider when choosing winter tires. "The conditions in which you drive in winter are of paramount importance: will it be exclusively a city, or will you regularly travel outside the city where the car can get on ice. You also need to consider how well the roads in your city are cleaned in winter. Experience also matters driving - whether you are a beginner or an experienced driver, as well as your driving style," Churmeeva explains.
Winter tires for harsh environments include studded and non-studded (friction or Velcro) tires. They are equal in traction, but studded tires perform better on ice, said the executive director of the Tire Manufacturers Association. Russia has technical restrictions on studded tires.
The law provides for a limit on the number and weight of winter tire studs. "The Technical Regulations on the safety of wheeled vehicles say that studded tires sold on the Russian market must fit within the established restrictions on the maximum mass of a stud, and in terms of the number of studs - there should be no more than 60 pieces per linear meter of a tire," - Churmeeva explained.
Non-studded tires of the Scandinavian type, due to the absence of studs, provide a more comfortable driving compared to studded tyres. They are characterized by a more "sparse" pattern and rectangular or diamond-shaped "checkers". Such tires are designed to push through the ice and easily clear the adhering snow; they are suitable for driving on snowy roads. That is why, by the way, "Scandinavians" are more common in the north of Russia than in the central part.
Another category of winter tires are tires of the European type, which have a diagonal tread pattern in the form of beveled lines, an extensive network of drainage channels and a strong lug on the edges of the tire. Such tires are designed for wet and muddy winter roads; in a word, it will serve perfectly in the city and on the cleared track. They are designed for milder winters.

"It's hard to give one recommendation here - it all depends on the conditions in which you have to drive. If you have to often leave the city where you can find yourself on ice, then studded tires are probably better, and if you only drive on good cleared roads, then maybe Velcro will do," the expert said. She also drew the attention of car owners to the need to monitor the residual tread depth if the tires are not used for the first season.
"The minimum tread depth that ensures safety is 4 millimeters. If your tread is already worn out more, you endanger yourself and other road users, in fact, this is already bald rubber. Therefore, if you do not plan to buy a new tires at the beginning of the season, or for economic reasons you have made a choice in favor of buying used tires, you definitely need to monitor the tread depth," Churmeeva said.
It is better to refrain from installing a tire on a car after 10 years from the date of its release.

Tires with rims, she says, can be hung or stored lying down, but not stored standing up. Tires without rims can only be stored standing up, neither suspended nor stored lying down. In this case, the tires must be protected from exposure to the sun. It is also recommended to switch studded tires from the drive axle (axle with high torque) to the non-drive axle and back after 10,000 kilometers. “This will allow you to keep the studs in the tire for as long as possible,” Churmeeva explained.
