My stock wheels dont really look the greatest as of now, is there a way i could polish them and make them shiny again
ill get some pics of them and some pics of the polish i have but it wont work on my wheels it just sorta cleans them and not polishes them
This stuff worked AMAZING on my cr250 frame but i dont think its what i need to do my wheels
Since im looking at a polished axle a-arms and swingarm i might as well do my wheels just not sure how to do them
Give me a couple minutes and ill go take some pics of my wheels and tell me what u think i can do

ahhh i do this all the time its super easy!theres 2 different ways you can do it. WAY #1-When your washing your 400ex(powerwasher)put degreaser on your rims(which is basically kerosene with some kind of addative or sullative)my dad gets it free from work to but spray it on your rims and wait like 5-10minutes and powerwash it off and they will be very nice and shiny(you can also use degreaser on your plastic, bumper, nerfs, anything, etc.)and then there is WAY#2-If you cant use degreaser this works just as well if not better. After you just simply powerwash it off,put Aromor All Wheel Cleaner on them, then wipe it off and it will also be very nice and shiny.(The wheel cleaner will also work on your axle.i.e. my axle was very dirty no matter how much i washed and then i put wheel cleaner on it and it and scrubbed and it made it just as polished as my bumper/nerfs)i hope this helps you out!

stuff called neverdull works awsome.I hadn't polished anything on my quad since 2004.This stuff takes off rust, baked on mud, clay, you name it. Just tear off some of the fabric and rub and everything comes off. Then wipe down with a microfiber cloth and its polishes.

I never had much luck trying to polish stock wheels...I think they are anodized clear or something. The rag never turned black much when I tried. Might have to sand first with high grit sandpaper to knock down the coating first.

Lol, I have those same stem caps :p
and I always use my pressure washer then a rag on my rims and they tend to look nice after that (but these are 08 rims).

to get a mirror like finish on stock wheels you will have to sand the brushed coating off def a ton of work. go for it if you have the patience if not just buy some .190s

yes the stock rims are clear anodized. an easy way to remove it is to mix a solution of 1 tsp of lye (drain cleaner) to a gallon of water and immerse the item. let it sit for 5-10 min and lightly scrub with a scotch brite pad. use gloves cause its caustic and will burn your hands. the wheels are big so you might need a med. size tub and 2-3 gals of water. you can do 1 side at a time. then just polish with mothers or flitz or simchrome. you can use this to strip any faded anno to spruce up old parts. great for cars bikes R/C stuff.

In principle, the rims can of course also be fitted with a conventional one wheel cleaner to be cleaned. To do this, you first have to attach the rims to a Pressure Washer hose down thoroughly or with a wet one sponge clean. You can then spray the rim cleaner on and let it work for a few minutes. Finally, run a brush or a cotton cloth over the aluminum rims and you're done. Before wintering, the rims should also be coated with a special rim sealant be sprayed. On the other hand, they are more suitable All Purpose cleaner from specialist retailers, which are usually sufficient to remove dirt from the rims. Each car owner strives to ensure that his car retains a beautiful appearance and looks like new for as long as possible. Over time, even with the most careful attitude, scratches or scuffs inevitably appear on car rims, the wheels look sloppy. You can solve this problem by resorting to polishing car rims.
In addition to the fact that polishing gives the discs in use the effect of novelty, it also helps to protect them from environmental influences and aggressive substances. As a result, polishing prolongs the life of discs, improving their external qualities.
Wanting to save money, many people try to polish their car wheels themselves, but in fact it is better not to do this. Discs should not be treated with gasoline or thinner, and contactless washing should not be used - all this degrades the surface properties of the disc.
The professional polishing process is carried out using various chemicals. If the disc is slightly scratched, then by polishing it, you can easily give it the appearance of a new one. For polishing use:
If the scratches on the discs are significant, argon-arc welding is additionally used.
Our company offers mirror polished discs. Such car care is available to all car owners both in Kyiv and in Ukraine, the price of our services is very attractive. For high-quality polishing, our craftsmen use professional polishing machines equipped with felt and special pastes. During polishing, the wheel disk is also treated with dirt-repellent compounds. It is this approach to disk maintenance that is favored by disk manufacturers.
The technically most difficult stage is the processing of the disc sides and their flanges. Our masters successfully cope with this, while eliminating aluminum deposits, chips, scratches. Polishing gives the rim its original appearance.
Residents of the city of Kyiv and all comers, our company provides high-quality services for polishing cast and aluminum wheels is not expensive. Excellent mirror polishing is available to every car owner thanks to the work of our specialists, the availability of special equipment in the company and the right choice of the necessary processing technology. We do the work quickly and efficiently!
For car owners who value their cars, we offer reasonable prices and an indispensable polishing guarantee. Our masters will do the job perfectly in a short time. Regular customers have discounts in our company.
No matter how much dirt there is on the wheels of your car, you can make them shine again. To perfectly polish the wheels, you need to follow a few simple steps. To do this, you do not have to look for special equipment or buy expensive funds. In this article, you will learn how to update the look of your wheels in less than an hour.
This is the first and obligatory stage, it is also preparatory. If you have the opportunity to do this with a pressure washer, use it. The stronger the water flow, the better the cleaning will be. If you do not have such a device, a regular hose and a spray nozzle will do.
Rinse the wheels and adjacent areas, treat with water and the inside of the spokes of the aluminum wheel. It is important to clean the dirt from the very surface of the rubber tire and around the lock nuts.
Spray the wheel surface with cleaner. Ideally, special substances are used that are designed to act on aluminum. Among them, it is worth noting Bauset No. 60, Moreman, Wurth, but, in principle, any non-acid aluminum wheel cleaner will do. It should be sprayed onto the surface of the wheels, spokes and lug nuts, or thoroughly lubricated with a sponge. All work must be done with gloves!
But if you are not ready to spend money on buying a cleaner, you can create an analogue of such a product yourself at home by mixing lemon juice and soda. In case of heavy pollution, abrasive material, which in this case is soda, cannot be dispensed with. Even ordinary salt will help remove old plaque on the aluminum surface.
Once you've prepared your cleaning solution, use a soft bristle brush (you can use an old toothbrush) dampened with water and start cleaning the surface of the wheel, inside the spokes and around the nuts. Due to the length and small head with a toothbrush, you can reach even hard-to-reach places. If the wheel starts to dry out, add more water to the cleaner. Otherwise, you risk scratching the surface.
Wheel bolt wells do not need to be cleaned with soft brushes. On the contrary, here it is better to use an all-purpose cleaner and stiffer bristles. Wheel wells always collect plaque and dirt, so it's best to use a hard-bristled brush with a long handle that will penetrate deep into the hole.
After brushing the rim, rinse thoroughly and wipe with a clean cloth to remove any remaining dust. Now that you've removed the dirt and buildup, use the hose to rinse out the whole wheel. Direct water onto the spokes and into the holes for the lug nuts. Let the wheel sit for a few minutes. After it dries, use a clean, lint-free cloth to remove any remaining dirt particles.
This step can only be skipped if there is no damage to the discs and you just want to restore their shine. You can use any of the grinding methods. The most time-consuming, little-used and insufficiently effective grinding is considered to be manual.
If you have a power tool (an ordinary drill, hammer drill, grinder will come in handy), on which you can attach a rotating nozzle, it will save time and make life easier. Your task is to make the sanding disc rotate by applying slight pressure to the surface.
Begin grinding with a coarse abrasive, the choice of which depends on the type of defect, and then continue with fine-grained tools. Keep in mind that during the grinding process a powder is formed - it must be removed from the surface to avoid new damage. Carry out the work at low speeds, without excessive pressure, evaluate the intermediate results.
Flat surfaces should be sanded with flat sanding sheets, and various recesses, including wheel wells, should be sanded with fine abrasives.
Today you can buy anything in the market for motorists. Polish is no exception. However, some car owners prefer to save money and use home-made compounds. You do not need to do this, because professional polishing products have a number of undeniable advantages:
Polishing should be started according to the same principle as grinding: first go through the surface with a coarse polish, and then with a homogeneous paste. The most popular tool is GOI paste, which can be bought at almost any specialized store for motorists. If diamond paste will be used as a polishing agent, buy two types of this substance in advance.
Wipe the surface thoroughly with microfibre before starting the initial polishing. The main thing is to avoid the appearance of black stripes and overheating of the surface - in this case, you will have to remove the entire polishing mass and do the manipulation again. Polishing wheels with aluminum rims requires skill and care.
In principle, the set of polishing tools is no different from those used in the grinding phase. The difference lies in the nozzles: you need to polish with softer ones. When using a coarse-grained polish, take a hard polishing sheet, and for a fine-grained polish, use a softer one.
Experts recommend felt nozzles, thanks to which the polish stays on the surface for a long time, or felt nozzles. Hard-to-reach places can be polished only with rag stitched circles.
After polishing, the disc is thoroughly washed and wiped with a rag. To keep the mirror surface of the disc fresh for a long time, it is recommended to apply additional protective layers of varnish or wax to the surface. If you neglect this step, you will have to wash the discs more often and polish them.
Since this method is the least expensive and quite easy, it should be given more attention.
