Before performing any maintenance on your Cub Cadet XT1 tractor, refer to your owner’s manual for recommended maintenance and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your tractor model our instructions may vary slightly. Check your owner’s manual to get instructions specific to your model.
Parking your Cub Cadet on a flat, level surface. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool. Remove the ignition key, disconnect the spark plug ignition wire to prevent accidental starting, and engage the parking brake.
For this project start by taking the plastic cap off the rear tire. You can use a small screwdriver to do this, or a similar tool to place right behind the plastic cap and pop it off.
With the plastic caps, a lot of times they’re a one-time use only, so once you pop them off the inside of the cap will break or come loose so when you put them back on the tires they may not be as tight as they once were. You can get these at one of our six Weingartz locations, or online.
Once you get the plastic cap off on the inside of the tire, there is a single bolt, it’s a 13 millimeter. Take that bolt out. That bolt is going to come out with a bigger washer and the single washer that’s on the nut.
Then the rear tire simply slides off the axle. There is a plastic spacer that goes in-between the tire and axle. A little piece of advice – if the plastic spacer ever falls off, you want the starred side facing towards the transmission, spacer side away.
Another little piece of advice – once you get the tire off, you may notice that it started to create a little bit of rust on the shaft. Clean a little bit of rust off and use a little bit of anti-seize, not a real thick amount, just a little bit right on the shaft and then just wipe it around the shaft, get all the way around. This is not mandatory, but we highly recommend it, especially in the future when trying to get that tire back off.
To put the rear tire back on, the valve stem side should face away from the tractor or face towards the outside. When putting the tire back on, the rim has an oval shape to it, and you want that to line up with the axle shaft. If you look at the axle shaft, it has that same shape.
Push your rim and tire assembly all the way until it stops. Get your big washer and your bolt. We recommend putting a little bit of blue Loctite on your bolt just to keep it in place for you. Put the big washer on the bolt and thread it in by hand. Once you get a couple threads on it, hit it with the impact to tighten it down.
Then reinstall the plastic cap.
There is a plastic cover that’s on the very front of the tire. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry that off. Again, a lot of these plastic caps are maybe a one-time use. Inspect the cover once you get it off, if it’s damaged you can get a new one from Weingartz.
Once you have that plastic cover off there’s a cotter pin that needs to be removed. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to bend the cotter pin straight so you can remove it and get it back through the axle. There is a metal washer behind the cotter pin, remove that, and the tire should slide right off.
Inside the tire there are plastic bushings. One thing you want to inspect while you have the tire off are those plastic bushings, check for wear and replace if necessary. If you do need parts you can get them at one of our six Weingartz locations or at weingartz.com.
To reinstall the tire and wheel assembly, make sure the valve stem faces towards the outside.
There’s a shoulder side towards the inside, you want the shoulder side towards the inside of the mower.
To reinstall the tire, on the metal washer there are little metal tabs that stick out and those should face away from the mower. The flat side of the washer should face towards the tire.
To reinstall a new cotter pin, just slide it all the way through the axle, take your needle nose and bend the cotter pin back over.
Reinstall the plastic cover, just push it straight on until it clicks.

A riding mower is preferred by many people with medium to large lawns.
The Cub Cadet LT 1045, for example, helps take the strain out of grass cutting. When a flat tire interrupts your grass cutting, remove the wheel and tire for repair. You will save time and money by doing the job yourself.
Park the Cub Cadet mower in an area of the yard where the ground is level, with firm ground to support raising the mower with a jack. Consider parking the mower on a driveway as an alternative. Turn the mower off, leave the transmission in gear and set the parking brake for safety.
Raise the engine hood, locate the spark plug wire with the rubber boot on the end and pull it from the spark plug tip for safety.
Set a jack on the ground under the front or rear of the mower frame, based whether a front or back tire needs to be removed.
Position the jack so it is in the center of the frame at the front or back of the mower for stability.
Raise the jack following the manufacturer's instructions. Insert the jack handle into jack and raise the jack until it contacts the mower frame. Continue raising the mower, and then slide a masonry block under the frame. Lower the mower frame on to the block for support while working.
Remove the bumper cap from the end of the axle when removing a front tire. Use pliers, if necessary to help remove the cap, and then pull the cotter pin from the front axle. Pull the wheel and tire assembly off the axle.
Remove the hubcap on the rear axle, if a rear wheel is being removed.
Loosen and remove the hex head bolt with a socket wrench and 5/16-inch socket. Turn the bolt counterclockwise to loosen and remove. Pull the bell washer and flat washer off the rear axle. Slide the wheel and tire assembly off the axle.
Obtain a replacement wheel and tire assembly from a mower repair shop, or have a damaged tire repaired at a mower repair shop or service station. Place the wheel and tire assembly back on the axle.
Place the flat and bell washer on the rear axle and secure it with the hex bolt. Place the cap on the end of the axle. Secure the front tire in place with the washer and cotter pin, followed by the hubcap. Use pliers, if necessary, to push the cotter pin back through the axle.
Raise the mower with the jack and remove the masonry block. Lower the mower to ground with the jack.
Connect the spark plug wire back to the spark plug.
Use caution when working around the mower even when supported by the jack or masonry block.

Pros: One of our biggest hesitations when choosing a lawn mower was that we were afraid it wouldn't go over our uneven yard. But this mower turned out to be very passable. 2. Hard to start. When starting the engine by the starter handle (only apparently with your right hand, at the same time), you need to stretch it towards yourself for at least 150 cm. It seems to me that a woman cannot do this (there is not enough arm span).
And, by the way, after starting, you should not forget that this elongated cable must be carefully (gradually) returned to the engine - do not throw it away.
3. The motor does not pull well. In my opinion (experience in using about 10 gasoline mowers, including self-propelled ones), this "commercial" motor is claimed to be 6 hp. does not issue. It looks more like a 4-strong type, since with high (like 40 cm) and dense lawn grass, it "chokes" and stalls.
4. Patency (own) at a low level. Strive to get stuck everywhere. With a cutting height of 45 mm (on the front wheel and on the canopy), a hole or bump 5 cm deep and 10 cm in diameter is enough for the mower to stand up. And it is difficult to push it with your hands, since the mower is three-wheeled and bulky. She begins to spin in place, slip and resist.
5. Height adjustment is terrible. That is, the dome rises and falls easily and conveniently, but to change the height of the front wheel, you need to unscrew and completely remove its bolt with a guide washer, and then put it in another position in the front wheel cage. Getting the washer on the bolt between the cage and the wheel is an interesting exercise, and it should be borne in mind that it is impossible to put the mower on its left side, since the plastic lever for fixing the position of the central wheel protrudes quite strongly (about 5 cm) on the handle of the mower, which, apparently, is can be easily damaged in this way.
And it is difficult to hold (raise the front part) the mower by the handle, since the length of the handle is about 150 cm and the dome is another 50 cm.
Comment: 6. The 70 liter grass collector is filled with 55 liters, as it is located in such a way that the main part of its volume seems to "rise" from the place where the grass mulch hits (its flight from under the dome) to the main volume of the grass collector (angle tilt about 15 degrees).

5 cm, the knife didn’t particularly care, it bored various bumps (such as wormholes), stones, pieces of wood, roots not visible in the grass came across , after the first two swaths of the site, it was necessary to sharpen the knife (neatly with a grinder), now I mow almost the entire plot, 18 acres, at a height of 4.5 cm, much faster, smoother and better than with a trimmer and then you don’t need to collect the grass, to difficult height adjustment, due to the manual reset of the height of the front wheel, I treat it as a design feature and do not consider it a disadvantage (this is why I paid attention to this model) , maneuvering around flowerbeds , trees and other obstacles , turning on the spot , turning 90 degrees, everything is worth it, I tried to mow, quite thick, grass above 40 cm, sometimes winds up, but if you take it not to the full width of mowing, but to half and slightly open (fix) the back cover without installing the grass collector and mulching nozzle, then everything turns out, but it contradicts the safety rules of use .
... in general, I am very satisfied with the purchase, all expectations are justified :)

Disadvantages: I had to heat the knife with a gas lamp and correct it so that the cutting edge was on the same level with the bottom of the body, otherwise it left a lot of uncut grass (jamb of production), the knife was located too high - two centimeters from the lower part of the body, the lawn mower crushed the grass with its body, and the knife did not cling (lifted) all of it and still constantly clogged (every 3 minutes) even with side ejection and in dry weather, now after my modifications everything works as it should.
Further, there is no fixable jamb - the real bevel of the grass is 44 cm, but it is stated 50, well, how will it mow 50 cm if the knife is 46 cm ?! 50cm is the outer dimension of the case.

Foldable handle, folds back and adjusts with clamps - a huge plus if family members have several heights and are stored for the winter. The site is not ideal. You have to keep on two rear wheels very often. And straighten with a mount every time the children mowed.

Comment: This is the second device from Daewoo. The first - the generator - works flawlessly. I bought it based on my neighbor's lawn mower. He has the same model, but with four wheels. The choice was made in favor of this car because of the swivel front wheel. My site is with a slight slope, in some places not quite even - there are bumps and pits. The configuration of the lawn is complex, there are many trees in the garden, you have to maneuver a lot.
When working, the efforts are minimal: just steer, the machine will do the rest. If the wheels do not slip, then the car does not care what the terrain is. It just rides and cuts well. But if the grass is wet after rain, then you can only mow a flat lawn, the wheels slip along the mounds: the tires are made of rather slippery plastic. The solution is simple: do not mow in the rain.
Height adjustment on a four-wheeled machine is easier, everything is done with one lever. For a plot with flower beds or trees, the most successful design. I was surprised that with almost one hand it turns out to control the mower like a machine. Very manoeuvrable and the quality of the haircut is top notch. Similarly, in a straight line - fixed the wheel and forward. Well, all the functions of a modern lawn mower are included: there is enough power with a margin, it runs smoothly and quietly, mulching, side discharge, smooth running, everything is metallic and excellent quality of painting, fitting parts and most importantly - it is easy to start and and it is convenient to wash and maintain it later. Disadvantages: The mower has a peculiarity - it must be used on a good, even lawn. In uneven areas, the side overhangs of the hull may touch the ground. No need to mow at level 1-2, this is actually below zero, it will cut the roots.
Comment: Really very manoeuvrable - for flat areas it is not as important as when mowing a lawn with trees and bushes planted around the area - at the same time, the quality of the grass cut is high, on a flat lawn when turning, the mower does not roll either to the left or to the right. There is no need to trim with a trimmer near landings, the mower can drive up close, since there is no front wheel sticking out to the side. The cutting height does not adjust as quickly as on the
regular four-wheeler - but it does not cause problems. For tall grass, it is best to use side discharge, otherwise the container fills up quickly. In terms of functionality and quality of mowing, I really like it.
IMPORTANT! New mower, surprisingly, without oil. Must be filled with regular Sae30 mineral oil.

I will return it, it is too small for my lawn, it will take eight hours to mow.

Disadvantages: Unusual design of the wheel. The argument for me was the ease of management. Thanks to one wheel forward, the mower turns easily, which I found very important when maneuvering on the site. Real work pleased even more. An excellent model ... I think soon everyone will do such.

+Really large mowing width, the mowing process has become much faster.
+Cuts well and, most importantly, cleanly collects all the cut grass.
+Front spinning wheel - helps to quickly turn the mower and speeds up the whole process.
+Large grass collector - no need to run every 2 minutes and throw out the grass.
+There is a function of mulching, side ejection and nipple for washing the deck.
What I didn't like:
- Because of the front wheel, the mower is larger in size than traditional analogues.
- The front wheel is height adjustable separately from the rear wheels.
With all the pros and cons, the lawn mower more than lived up to expectations.

Comment: Very manoeuvrable lawn mower – the main advantage is the ability to turn on the spot, mow between trees and bushes; mow the flower beds. The maneuverability is outrageous. At first, the view seemed unusual compared to the usual models, but when you start mowing around bushes and trees, you realize that this is quite a reasonable design. In addition, there is a side ejection - for mowing tall grass, but for effective reclining, the guide must be cut so that it does not look into the ground. A new feature for me is a connector for connecting water to the inside of the case. At first it was scary to do this, but it turned out to be very convenient to wash the mower. You turn on the water, start the knife and it sprays water like in a dishwasher. The motor has enough power to mow tall grass and to move the mower itself, even with a full grass catcher.
Mows and vacuums the lawn perfectly. As long as everyone is happy.

Awesome mows fresh grass, yesterday I tried a side discharge on a higher one, everything works fine. I mostly mow without collecting grass, mulching when cutting. The grass turns into flour and is practically invisible on the lawn. Liked the control panel. There is a glove compartment and space for a water bottle.
