How to use atv in hunter call of the wild

theHunter: Call of the Wild ATV Saber 4X4 DLC Review for PC

If you have found yourself enjoying theHunter: Call of the Wild (by Publisher Avalanche Studios, developer Expansive Worlds and distributor astragon Entertainment) and its recreation of a realistic hunting experience, then you will know one of the top complaints is how long it takes to traverse the expansive map. In some people’s minds, the travel was perhaps too realistic. This newly released mod, ATV Saber 4X4 tries to offer a solution to the problem. The mod is relatively cheap at $3.99 and comes complete with a fleet of three ATVs. These ATVs do appear to be the same model, but feature different colorways to match your personal aesthetic. The ATVs are completely free to spawn and respawn. This is especially useful if a tracking expedition leads you to forget where you parked your ATV.

As for the actual gameplay, the controls for the ATV are pretty intuitive. The vehicle is pretty quick to start and stop, but it can be a challenge to turn. The sounds are incredibly realistic and well done. Overall, you can tell the developers took some time on the modeling of the ATV and implementing it into the game. The ATVs also have relatively realistic physics and the environment really does impact how the ATV traverses the environment. There is also a health system for the vehicle for when it takes damage, which can always be remedied with a simple respawn. The ATV will not stop driving until you bring it to a complete stop, which is also an interesting feature. Pulling up the pause menu will not make the ATV stop driving, which can be pretty bad if you aren’t careful.

There are several important features or lack of features to consider when getting this mod. First, is that you cannot interact with any signage or other items while on an ATV. I did find this a little frustrating, especially when trying to unlock new areas. This was perhaps the biggest grievance in my playthrough. Secondly, you cannot run over the animals. This is consistent with the type of gameplay that is presented and their desire to adhere to legality. I think it’s safe to say it’s not realistic for someone to try to hunt animals in this manner. This also means you cannot hunt while on the ATV, which is also against the law. Even if you could draw your weapon and fire, you would never find any animals because the ATVs are incredibly loud. The ATVs are basically for exploring other areas of the map more quickly and thoroughly because it can go on and off road. Although these features may have been fun for some to have, I think theHunter’s focus is more so on recreating a real experience. All things considered, I think if travel time is an issue you have been having or you simply like ATVs, then this may be a mod worth investing in.

I give the ATV Saber 4X4 DLC a solid 9/10.

Here is theHunter: Call of the Wild official DLC trailer, which offers a first look into the usability of the ATV Saber 4X4:

The wardens recently met at a conference for wildlife management, and realized how they have all noticed a buildup of visitors at the entry points of their respective hunting reserves. Due to frequent requests from hunters and to encourage full exploration of the reserves, the wardens have approved the use of All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) within them – but strictly as a mode of transportation. Using the ATV, hunters and hikers alike will be able to discover more of the hidden beauty lying in wait - and have a great time doing it!

We don't know much about ATVs. Although in recent years there has been more and more information. Most of what we know about these wonderful all-terrain vehicles is limited to the fact that they are something between a motorcycle and a small fun buggy. But that's not the case at all.

Initially, the ATV was created as an assistant vehicle for those who live far from civilization, in places where asphalt roads are known only by hearsay. But the cross-country ability of the ATV is such that the most eminent SUVs can envy. The latest developments of engineers - powerful trophy quads with an engine capacity of over 700 cubes are perfect for overcoming the most difficult tracks, labor-intensive work, and for such entertainment for real men as hunting or fishing.

Someone might say that it is much more interesting and healthier to get to hunting or fishing grounds on foot, with a backpack, and with weapons and gear. But how much more convenient and practical it is to load everything you need, including a tent and a supply of provisions, onto a quad and get to the right place several times faster, while also getting a real buzz from driving through gullies, blueberries and bumps. It is convenient to settle down on the spot, pack up without any problems and quickly relocate to another place, without spending a lot of time on long transitions. And return again riding on the right quadra with prey or catch on the front grate.

So, what is the most important thing in an ATV for a hunter? Of course, throughput and power. And here he will not be able to compete with any other vehicle. For a modern hunter, a quadra is like a true horse for hunters of the past. It is small, lightweight, has four points of support - wheels shod in low-pressure rubber with lugs, which provides excellent grip on forest paths, mud and unstable surface areas. It is equipped with a powerful engine from 700 to 1000 cc. cm, independent suspension and all-wheel drive. High clearance, the ability to transport up to 350 kg of luggage, good optics and a powerful winch - With this set of functions, any road and off-road will become just an additional entertainment during the hunt.

And especially for hunters, fishermen and lovers of long journeys, ATVs are now made especially light, with high-torque engines, a power steering system and kengurins that allow you to make your way through the bush without fear of hurting your legs.

And with minimal tuning, you can turn an ATV into a real all-terrain monster for hunting. Install protection for the bottom to avoid damage to the undercarriage when crossing rocks and fallen trees. Take out the radiator - raise it higher to prevent it from clogging with dirt, fragments of branches and pebbles. Mount the snorkels and insulate the wiring to freely storm the waters. Equip with a wardrobe trunk and a gun holder.

And do not think that ATVs can only be used in the warm season. Swap out for winter tires, or better yet, tracks, equip your quad with hand warmers and a heated seat, and enjoy your favorite hobby all year round.

How to properly prepare an ATV for winter hunting

TransportWheel vehicles

What should be checked and lubricated in an ATV before winter?

Last winter with thaws and little snow proved that the ATV is quite an all-weather vehicle. However, in order for a four-wheeled friend not to cause problems in the cold and not disrupt the sortie for trophies, it must be properly prepared for winter operation.

A common problem in winter is difficult starting of the ATV engine. Especially when the equipment has been standing in the open for a long time.

In this case, check the wire contacts with the battery terminals. If there is oxidation, then the battery itself is poorly charged, and at the time of start-up, due to poor contact, there may not be enough voltage.

Disconnect the wires from the terminals, remove large oxides with sandpaper, and treat the terminals with a special Liqui Moly Kontaktreinig contact cleaner. This composition removes fatty contaminants, loosens and removes oxide salts, restores electrical conductivity, and also blocks leakage currents.

After treatment, the dissolved oxides and residues of the cleaner must not be forgotten to be washed off with the cleaner, and after assembly, protected with a special Batterie-Pol-Fett grease.

If both the contacts are good and the battery is charged, the engine oil may be the cause of the poor start. Most ATVs run on 10W-40 or 10W-50 lube during the summer. These oils are considered all-weather, but if you have a quadric on the street, then in cold weather it will be difficult to start, because the thickened oil provides excessive resistance.

To avoid this, it is better to fill the engine with oil with a viscosity of 5W-50 before the onset of cold weather.

For example, Liqui Moly ATV 4T Motoroil 5W-50 HC-synthetic engine oil, which provides maximum performance and engine protection under all operating conditions. This oil guarantees easy start-up at low temperatures.

It will not be superfluous to change the oils in the gearboxes before winter. There is no purely winter transmission for ATVs, but you still need to change the oil before frost, because water could get into these nodes through a breather or seals in the fall, which, mixed with oil, turned into an emulsion.

Gearboxes of modern ATVs have electrics (someone has an electromagnetic clutch, someone has a servo drive), so expect trouble from such a "mule". In quadrics, a transmission with a viscosity of 75w90 is most often used, which is poured into both the front and rear gearboxes. The German brand Liqui Moly has in its assortment a synthetic gear oil for motorbike Gear Oil 75W-90.

This multipurpose oil is suitable for transmissions of motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and snowmobiles.

It is based on polyalphaolefins and special additives, due to which it does not change its properties either at negative or positive temperatures. The oil has the so-called thermal-oxidative stability and resistance to aging. This means that the interval between changes is significantly longer than other oils with a similar viscosity.

Some models of ATVs have axles with oil bath brakes. In this case, a special product is already needed. And this is also in the range of Liqui Moly - Axle Oil ATV 10W-30.

It is not superfluous to replace antifreeze before winter. In summer, due to the boiling away of the coolant, its deficiency in the system is often compensated for with plain water. In cold weather, diluted antifreeze can simply turn into ice and damage the engine. From high-quality modern antifreezes, you can choose, for example, Liqui Moly Kuhlerfrostschutz KFS 12 ++.

This fluid is designed for cooling systems with an increased coolant circulation rate, which is required in engines with increased performance. It does not contain amines, borates, nitrites, phosphates, perfectly protects the motor from overheating, and at the same time is suitable for use in a wide range of ambient temperatures.

ATV will not let you down with the onset of cold weather and will not disrupt your hunting trip if you properly prepare it for the season.

    On a small boat

A couple of years ago I became the owner of a small PVC inflatable boat. Despite its “two-seater” format, I, accustomed to some spaciousness of a large boat, initially felt somewhat constrained in it and did not immediately master the control of the “baby”.
