What cars are available in DayZ? There are the same vehicles on both PC and consoles. In total, there are five different ones, four cars and one truck. However, the PC enjoys the advantage of also allowing mods that offer greater variety. In both cases, there are:

  • ADA 4×4 (in real: Lada Niva)
  • Olga 24 (Volga GAZ-24)
  • Gunter 2 (VW Golf 2)
  • Sarka 120 (Škoda 120)
  • M3S Truck (Praga V3S)

1.

finding cars and parts

Where can you find cars in DayZ? Finding a car in DayZ is simple, but time-consuming. There are hundreds of different spawns for cars in Chernarus, Livonia, etc. You can quickly find them using the interactive map. Note, however, that you won’t actually find a car at every marked spawn point on the map.

Where can you find car parts? Vehicle parts, unlike the cars themselves, can be found very often. You can find radiators, car batteries and spark plugs in the following places.

  • Garages
  • Gas stations
  • barns
  • Equipment sheds
  • Less often you can find body parts here.

Tires, doors, trunk lids and hoods are most often found at car wrecks. Wrecks are located at fixed positions on the map and house usable parts.

2. repair and maintenance

Before you can start repairing a damaged vehicle in DayZ, you need to know which parts are missing or damaged in the first place.

  • Car battery
  • Spark plug
  • Radiator
  • Light bulb
  • Doors
  • Body

You don’t have to fix every part on your vehicle to make it run again, even if they’re all broken. Battery, spark plug and radiator are the three most important parts. If your battery or spark plug are broken, you can’t drive. If your radiator is leaking, you should stop. If it’s empty, the engine will overheat and take damage over time — visible in the smoking hood.

Repair radiator: If there is no water in the radiator, you will see it on the driver’s seat in the UI. Just take a bottle of water, water bottle, or canister and fill the radiator at the front of the hood. You can fit a total of about 6 water bottles full of water in here.

Battery repair: Your car battery can either be broken or simply dead. In either case, the easiest way to fix it is to find a new battery. While you can “simply” charge a dead battery, you’ll need a power source and a charger to do so. Say:

  • Generator
  • Gasoline
  • Cable reel
  • Charger

If you don’t already happen to have these items in your base, you’re sure to find a new battery faster.

Repair tires: You can repair the tires on your vehicle with a tire repair kit. You can find them in garages, garden sheds and gas stations. CAUTION: If your tire is blown out, you should never remove the wheel until you have found a replacement. With a destroyed tire, your vehicle is still easier to control in DayZ than without.

Repair doors, hoods & body: If a door, hood, or body is chipped, you’ll need epoxy resin or epoxy putty. This will magically repair the windows as well.

What about the spark plug & engine? If the spark plug is blown, it’s imperative that you install a new one, there’s no way to fix it. If the engine is damaged, your chances are even worse — zero. An accident or missing water in the radiator will quickly lead to irrevocable damage. The only option is to look for a new vehicle.

3. tips for driving cars

How to drive: Basically, you should now know about the dependencies of each vehicle component in DayZ. If you want to start driving now, pay attention to the gearshift — the key assignment is as follows:

  • Q/E – upshift and downshift
  • W – accelerate, even in reverse gear
  • S – brake
  • LEER – handbrake
  • F – Open door / move seat
  • Left mouse – Hold for engine start / Click for power off

How to protect yourself from theft: To make it harder for raiders and thieves to steal your vehicle, you should tighten your vehicle parts. After you have completed the repair, you can additionally fasten parts with various tools. It’s not necessary, but it’s safer!

  • Tires: Use the wrench to tighten all four wheels.
  • Car battery & radiator: Use the screwdriver to fix both components.
  • For Mod Servers: On many servers where you can buy vehicles from a dealer, there are also keys. Only those who have this key can open a vehicle or remove parts.

Here’s what you should watch out for with vehicles in DayZ

Why console players need to pay attention: On consoles, DayZ is notorious for its lags and judder. After a few test runs over the past few weeks, I (Kevin Willing) can confirm that updates over the past few months have mitigated the problem, but haven’t gotten rid of it. Therefore, I would rather advise players on the Xbox and PlayStation not to rely on a drivable vehicle.

How to Fix a Car

Cars in DayZ allow you to cover great distances and explore the map more easily. But like real-world vehicles, they are prone to malfunctions and total breakdowns. Knowing how to fix them helps you get back on track and enables you to travel this post-apocalyptic world much faster.

This article will give you a step-by-step guide on how to repair your car in DayZ. We will help you resolve any mechanical issues, allowing you to escape hordes of zombies unscathed.

DayZ How to Fix a Car Xbox?

Cars in DayZ can only be fixed up to a certain point. For instance, if your engine is too deteriorated, it will appear red, which is beyond repair. The same goes for all other car parts.

Take the following steps to examine and repair your car if you are an Xbox user.

  1. Perform a visual inspection to get an idea of the missing or broken parts. Broken windows and missing wheels should be obvious.
  2. Enter your vehicle to determine the extent of the damage. The icons in the upper-left corner will show you various colors that indicate the condition of the parts. Green denotes a good condition. Orange means you need to fix the component, whereas red parts are unusable.
  3. Use your action button to navigate the repair menu while looking at the vehicle.
  4. Equip a toolkit with your action button and replace or repair the broken parts. The best places to find the necessary components are Industrial Buildings. They are packed with vehicle components, fuel cans, and jerry cans.

Once you’ve repaired the vehicle, you may also want to fill your fuel tank:

  1. Find a fuel can or jerry can. They are usually empty, but you can refill them with large tanks at gas stations. To do so, equip a can from your inventory and stand near a cylindrical tank at a petrol station. Use the context menu to refill the can and return it to your vehicle.
  2. Select a full fuel or jerry can in your inventory.
  3. Stand near your car and hover over it until you are prompted to refill the tank.
  4. Press and hold your action button. Refilling should take about five seconds to complete.

Remember that repairing your vehicle will alert the infected up to 50 meters away.

DayZ How to Fix a Car PS4?

The repair process works the same on PS4 as with the Xbox outlined above. We will delve deeper into specific repairs since we have already covered general fixing.

Repairing the Metal Exterior

Crashing your car is a sure-fire way to damage the exterior. Luckily, repairing the doors and other outside components is pretty simple.

The item you will need to repair your metal exterior is epoxy putty. Besides fixing tactical helmets, combat helmets, and other clothes with a hard surface, it also works great for car doors. Here is how to use it:

  1. Go to the damaged car door and look at it.
  2. Open your inventory.
  3. Combine the broken door with the epoxy putty.
  4. Place the epoxy putty in your hand and hold your action button to repair the door.

Repairing a Broken Engine

Your engine can easily get damaged by gunshots. If it is still salvageable, fixing it will not give you a hard time:

  1. Open your hood and look at the engine.
  2. Go to the inventory and quip your pipe wrench. If you have not found one, look for the item in loot spawns, such as military, industrial, and residential piles.
  3. Point the pipe wrench in the direction of the engine until you see a prompt to repair your engine.
  4. Hold the action button until the fixing process is over.

Repairing a Flat Tire

Another common issue on DayZ cars is damaged tires. Fortunately, repairing them is relatively straightforward:

  1. Approach the damaged tire and look at it.
  2. Open your inventory and place the tire equipment kit in your hand.
  3. Hover over the tire until the “patch” command shows.
  4. Press and hold your action button to fix the tire.

Additional FAQ

How Many Vehicles Are There in DayZ?

There are five vehicles you can drive in DayZ:

Ada 4×4 (the Offroad Hatchback) – This car is a four-wheel-drive car with a 138 kph top speed.

Olga 24 (aka the Civilian Sedan) – This car is a large vehicle with an approximate top speed of 144 kph.

Gunter 2 (aka the Civilian Hatchback) – This car is the fastest in the game, whose top speed exceeds 190 kph.

Sarka 120 – This car only has four gears, limiting its top speed to just 100 kph.

M3S – This is the slowest DayZ car. The maximum speed stands at about 50 kph when going downhill or driving flat terrain.

Rev Up Those Engines

A broken car is a massive setback in DayZ, preventing you from reaching your destinations quickly and returning to your base on time. Luckily, fixing most car parts is not too challenging. You need a few basic tools to repair your tires, engine, and doors. Do not forget to gas up your vehicle regularly so that it does not let you down when you need it most.

    DayZ World News -

    News Hello survivors!
It's time to release update 1.18 to the stable branch. We would like to thank everyone who joined the experimental servers and helped us by playing and leaving their feedback. We would also like to share some information about the vehicle upgrade we promised. So far, internal testing is underway and the results look promising. We weren't able to include these changes in the 1.18 build, but we'll keep the community updated and will let you know when the test is ready on the experimental servers in the near future.
Now let's move on to the rather explosive content of this update.

We are very excited to introduce the first grenade launcher in DayZ - the legendary M79. This single-shot grenade launcher is capable of delivering deadly 40mm frag grenades up to 300 meters and opens up completely new combat possibilities. In addition to the 40mm frag grenades, we've also added 4 different smoke grenades (black, white, red and green) as well as one special type of grenade that you'll have to look for in the infected areas.
We're also introducing the Claymore, a new remote-detonated directional mine. Explosives can be found while looting industrial areas, which must be combined with a remote detonation device in order to detonate them from a safe distance. The protective cases can be combined with an electrical repair kit to create an improvised explosive device that can hold a variety of explosives and can be activated using an alarm clock, kitchen timer, or the aforementioned remote detonation device. Also introduced for the first time is a new event item, the Firework Launcher. Commonly found in amusement parks, this item is ready to brighten up any party or perhaps be used as a distraction when in contact with the infected and other survivors.
In addition to the explosions, we've also added the smallest firearm to date. The Derringer is a double-barreled .357 pistol that can be stashed just about anywhere. Speaking of firearms, the Blaze Revolver and Rifle can now be sawed off.

Now you can stumble upon a new type of dynamic event in the form of an abandoned train. This event makes the existing rail networks of Chernarus and Livonia worth your trip as it adds new attractions to areas that were relatively empty in the past. Trains come in many types and contain military, industrial, and civilian loot.
This update also includes some quality of life improvements. PC players will appreciate the more structured keybinding menu (with input categories) as well as the ability to bind any gesture to any key, which is also supported by a radial menu showing active bindings. Console players, meanwhile, now have more sensitivity options for their right controller stick and can see the sensitivity settings for their controller even when their mouse and keyboard are turned on.
Server owners will be happy to hear that hundreds of static environment objects now have their own configuration class that can be spawned, which means there are many more objects that can be used to customize the environment and overall player experience. The central economy has also received an update and now allows users to create collections of objects that can be used in cases such as abandoned trains, among other things. We can't wait to see what you create with these new tools!
But wait - there's also Steam Achievements, flag armbands, and more. If you want to treat yourself, check out the full changelog below.
We hope you enjoy this update. See you in Livonia and 1.19!
On behalf of the DayZ team
    Adam.
