The jackhammer is a hand-held mechanical tool based on the principle of percussion and has a high impact energy. There is a huge variety of different jackhammers from different manufacturers on the tool market. It is quite difficult for a person who has never dealt with such a unit to decide which hammer and for which job to choose
All jackhammers are classified into 4 types:
The master appreciates in jackhammers: 1. reliability, 2. performance, 3. ergonomics (low vibration, light weight, low vibration, simplicity and ease of operation, convenience).
Design
The design of a jackhammer is quite simple. The jackhammer drive drives the striker, which is located inside the body of the unit. In turn, the striker transmits mechanical impulses to the peak of the jackhammer and that, with very fast reciprocating movements (from 1100-1600 beats / min), destroys (breaks) the object being processed.
impact energy
This characteristic is the most important characteristic of a jackhammer and means the impact energy produced by the hammer in one minute and the number of peak strikes applied in the same unit of time.
Peak types
For each type of work, special peaks of jackhammers are used. There are the following types of peak: pike-blade, rammer, pike-crowbar, pike-chisel. A pick-blade is used for chipping ice, leveling the edges of asphalt, a pick-crowbar for loosening the soil, removing asphalt, when dismantling brick and concrete structures, breaking rocks. The pike-chisel is used for cutting.
Jackhammers are classified according to the type of energy used in them: pneumatic, electric, gasoline.
Pneumatic Breaker
The pneumatic jackhammer is the optimal solution for small repairs. Turbine and displacement motors are used for such jackhammers. A pneumatic jackhammer is good because it is not afraid of moisture, does not spark, does not need fuel and does not depend on the presence of a constant power supply.
Electric jackhammer
In electric jackhammers, an electric motor drives the rotor, which in turn causes the striker to send mechanical impulses to the tip of the tool.
The disadvantage of this type of hammer is that its electric motor sparks and is a source of increased fire hazard. Also, such a hammer directly depends on the presence of a constant power source.
Petrol Jackhammer
The petrol jackhammer has the advantage of not needing a power supply. But it also has disadvantages. For example: high fuel consumption, gas emissions, high noise level.
No jackhammer manufacturer explicitly states that the jackhammer they produce is designed to work in concrete. The operating instructions, as a rule, indicate soft ores, coal, shale, frozen soil and clay, and so on. But it so happened that users mainly use hammers to destroy concrete, that is, not for their intended purpose. When using a jackhammer for other than its intended purpose, specified in the operating instructions, the load on all parts of the tool increases sharply, as a result of which the actual tool life is significantly reduced.
To destroy concrete, you need to use concrete breakers, but since they are quite expensive, the craftsmen prefer to purchase jackhammers. In this case, the following recommendations can be made: 3rd type of jackhammer for general concrete work, 4th type for work on high-strength concrete.
In autumn and winter, at a temperature of +4 ... -4 degrees, jackhammers can "freeze". The reason for this is the presence of moisture in the compressed air. This is due to the presence of moisture in the compressed air and its rapid expansion at the exhaust from the tool, which is accompanied by a sharp drop in temperature by 44 degrees! In other words, if the temperature outside is 10 degrees, then the temperature at the exhaust of the tool will be -24 degrees. As a result, ice forms in the valve box and bores, covering all flow sections, and eventually leads to a failure to work. In such a case, the hammer should be put in a warm place so that it thaws. But, in any case, warm up the "frozen" hammers in the fire! This can cause the hammer barrel to burst. You can generously lubricate the hammer with diesel fuel, which destroys the ice and loosens it, after which it is carried out of the hammer by a stream of air.
You need to know that new hammers are most often “frozen”, since the distances and gaps between the parts are minimal and in the event of freezing, the new jackhammer immediately stops working.
You can increase the productivity and quality of the jackhammer with the help of a multi-volume receiver. It allows you to work much longer at high pressure.
In the Udachnaya Tekhnika chain of stores, you can purchase reliable jackhammers from leading brands:
