If your car’s alignment feels off, then it’s time to head to your local Big O Tires store. Our expert technicians will perform a free Alignment Check, let you know what you need and then make sure your wheels are properly aligned, so that you can get the most out of your tires.
To align your wheels, technicians adjust your vehicle’s suspension until your tires return to their factory-specified caster, camber and toe angles. They also perform a visual inspection of your steering and suspension components, and add or remove pressure from your tires as needed.
Proper wheel alignment requires the caster, camber, and toe angles of your tires to be correctly aligned to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Here’s a rundown of each term:
The bumps and turns of everyday driving cause your tires to become misaligned over time. The benefits of proper wheel alignment include:
We recommended you get your wheels aligned any time you get new tires installed on your vehicle. Also, when you get your tires rotated or balanced, it’s a smart move to get a free Alignment Check at your local Big O Tires store.

If there’s one thing more important than giving cars propulsion, it’s being able to control it. Sure, an engine and gearbox let you go places, but without properly working suspension, steering, brakes, or wheels, you’re in a world of hurt. Countless accidents occur every year around the world because the car being driven isn’t able to track right. Hence, the importance of learning about an alignment cost.
Wheel-slash-tire alignments are something that we hear about quite often. Usually, when we’re sending our cars over for their regular service and oil change, your technician buddy might make mentions of an alignment service. Typically, it’s understood by everyone to be best practice to simply keep our heads down, and get that alignment done, as prescribed by a mechanic. But what does it really mean?
Simply put, the wheels need to be aligned with the rest of the car, most especially the suspension and steering. This adjustment of its alignment settings ensures that your car not only drives and performs optimally but also does it efficiently and comfortably. Not to mention, making sure your car could steer and brake reliably, without leaving you out of control. But how much does an alignment cost?
Before we look into how much an alignment cost is, let’s take a deep dive into what alignments are in general. As we highlighted earlier, alignment jobs will be centered around your wheels. In particular, it entails realigning and readjusting the angle that your wheels and tires sit in relation to the rest of the car. In other words, make sure the angle that the wheels/tires are driving at is properly calibrated.
By making sure your wheels are aligned correctly, your car will handle, steer, and brake optimally. It’s a side effect of the wheels rolling with minimal resistance, being pointed in the right direction (just 1 or 2-degrees of offset could make a huge difference), and that the tires are getting as much traction as they possibly need. This won’t just guarantee better performance, but your safety behind the wheel.
A misaligned set of wheels and tires will induce poor handling and drivability. You might notice more vibrations and roughness as the car turns and drives along. On top of that, the probability of your car pulling and veering to one side or the other is particularly dangerous. If safe driving isn’t sufficient to convince you, note that getting an alignment would also save you a tonne of cash down the line.
Poorly aligned tires-slash-wheels mean that your car wouldn’t roll and move without at least some resistance being put against it. Firstly, you’re forced to use more of the engine to keep it going, which will incur higher fuel consumption. Furthermore, misaligned tracking of the wheels will put far higher levels of strain on the rest of the suspension, steering, and tires. This wears them out prematurely.
Here’s a quick TL;DR list of what you’re gaining from getting the wheels aligned:
On the flip side, here’s a list of downsides:
When you drive your car to a shop, here’s what they do to get it aligned to the right specifications or angles:
If you’re noticing that your car isn’t braking, steering, riding, or handling right, take it to some nearby workshop promptly. Get it checked out, as misaligned wheels/tires, if not resolved quickly, can prove to be silent killers. Oftentimes, misalignments occur naturally, as the wheels and tires gradually lose tracking and alignment as you put more miles on them. On other days, it may be circumstantial.
For example, accidentally curbing your wheels as you were trying to park your car. Or, hitting a piece of debris or speedhump at high speeds. Regardless, such impacts could be sharp enough to throw the wheels out of alignment. But what exactly is being misaligned, you might ask? In alignment terms, it comes down to three particular parameters when it comes to the angling of your wheels and tires:
It’s recommended to pay up for a wheel alignment cost every 10,000 miles. Or, just to be safe, every occasion you get to send your car in for its oil change and regular servicing. However, a 10,000-mile rule shouldn’t be a given in all scenarios. Depending on how and where you drive your car, it might be necessary to get an alignment done as frequently as every 5,000 miles. Or, maybe even less.
Remember that wheels, while they naturally get misaligned anyway, will lose the right tracking even faster if you’re putting more strain on it. For instance, regularly driving your car on rough and uneven roads, with plenty of potholes or speedbumps. Additionally, driving in a spirited manner, such as taking a corner too quickly or going too fast while turning. In doing so, you’ll lose alignment quicker.
In short, we’d still recommend checking the owner’s manual to see how often the car manufacturer suggests an alignment to be done. Otherwise, be wary of these warning signs of misaligned wheels, and have your car inspected as soon as they appear:
There’s more than just one type of wheel alignment that you could opt for. On most occasions, your mechanic friend will be the one to make suggestions on which one you should get. This judgment is based on the type of vehicle you have, and how you’re driving it. Also, just how badly misaligned the wheels are. In general, there are three types of wheel alignment cost that you’ll have to consider:
Finally, we can get down to the nitty-gritty of a wheel alignment cost. So, how much does it cost? On average, a wheel alignment will set you back between $100 to $250. Nevertheless, there are cases in which you could get an entire alignment done for as little as $40 or less. Ultimately, it’ll vary quite a bit depending on several key factors, determining the final tally for an alignment cost:
As a rough average (as of 2022), an alignment cost is priced at around $25 to $50 per wheel. For a front-end (two-wheel) alignment, that rounds up to about $50 to $100. If you’re opting for a four-wheel alignment, it comes to $100 to $200.
Given that you’ll be doing a wheel alignment, on average, roughly once per year or every two years, the typical alignment cost isn’t an overbearing expense. That’s especially once you consider how big of an impact it’ll make on your car drives. We’d still highly suggest opting for the costlier four-wheel alignment. While it may cost a bit more, it’ll ensure a more thorough alignment process is done.
To get the best deals possible, it’s wise to compare an alignment cost between your immediate and available options. Would it be best to get it done at the local workshop, authorized dealership, or a big-box chain? Well, if your car’s alignment is pretty out of whack, it’s best to head over to a dealer or specialty tire shop. They have the best machinery and mechanics that specialize in alignments.
For most ordinary circumstances though, you can get better prices at these big retail chains or large workshop franchises. We’re talking about the likes of NTB, Walmart, Discount Tire, Big O Tires, Les Schwab, and more. On certain days, they might offer huge discounts on wheel alignments and other service work for your car. Or, they may throw in an alignment for free if you buy tires from them.
While you’re making a comparison, be sure to look at what other perks do they offer. Do they provide a warranty after each alignment? Or, how about extended warranty programs that offer you the choice of getting several alignments done in that period? How about any refunds if the alignment is done poorly? Take all this into account, on top of the price they charge you for that base alignment.
To give you a better idea of how much these big-name chains charge you for a tire alignment cost, here’s a detailed comparison between each one:
Location | Service Type | Average Alignment Cost |
---|---|---|
Walmart | Front-End | $50 |
Four-Wheel | $75 | |

Beyond the difference in cost between one workshop chain and another, the actual size of your tires might also play a role in alignment cost. In short, bigger tires, the more it may cost to align them:
Tire Size | Alignment Cost |
---|---|
Up To 18 Inches | $60 |
19 Inches | $70 |
20 Inches | $70 |
20-21 Inches | $80 |
24-26 Inches | $100 |
28 Inches And Above | $120 |
That then just about rounds it up in our guide on wheel alignment cost. In all, we can see that when comparing it to most other car-related repairs or services, an alignment cost is relatively painless. It’ll be somewhat light on your wallet, with an average of $100 at most locations. And, it brings ample positive side effects to how your car will inevitably drive after getting a wheel alignment done.
A wheel alignment is one of those tasks that are vital to be performed on any car, especially if you’re driving it regularly. Ignoring it could badly impact its performance and driveability. If you leave it be for too long, it might cause you to lose control entirely. Therefore, a quick alignment job once every 10,000 or so miles (or roughly once a year or two) is a safe bet to keep yourself safe on the road.
Here are some of the most popular FAQs on the subject of wheel alignment cost:
Costco offers a variety of car-related services, including those concerning tires. Their tire centers offer everything from buying new tires to installation, rotation, balancing, as well as alignments. Costco’s wheel alignment cost is about $80 to $200, depending on whether you want a front-end or a four-wheel alignment.
Walmart is among the cheapest places where you can get car services done. This includes alignments for your wheels, where Walmart significantly undercuts its competition. You’re looking at a cost of as low as $50 for a front-wheel alignment. Or, around $75 for a four-wheel alignment. If you could get a coupon, it’ll be even cheaper.
Despite being one of the largest tire chains in the country, Discount Tires does not offer an alignment service. They at least offer other tire-related services, such as tire check-ups and inspections, new tire changes, rotation, and balancing.
There’s a price to pay to opt for a more professional wheel alignment job. Compared to big-box retail chains that offer practically anything, Big O Tires will charge a premium for an alignment cost. You’re looking at a cost of $80 and higher. But, their expertise when it comes to all-things tires may be best suited for serious or complex alignments.
Les Schwab is another all-around car repair expert, offering a wide variety of services. This includes a wheel alignment, which they offer free check-ups, as well as thrust angle and four-wheel alignments. For a thrust alignment, they’re charging you $100. In regards to four-wheel alignments, it’s going to cost you at least $125, which is still pretty decent.
Getting all four wheels aligned will naturally cost you more. On average, you’re looking at between $100 to $200 or higher for this sort of alignment to be done. However, most experts will tell you that it’s well worth the price. Owing to how complex modern cars are, and depending on how you drive them, a four-wheel alignment guarantees a more thorough job.
In contrast, front-end alignment costs are typically cheaper, around $50 to $100 on average. That’s since you’re only aligning two wheels instead of four. Nonetheless, if you could afford one, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t opt for a full four-wheel alignment. Some mechanics even say that front-end alignments are fast becoming insufficient for some modern cars.
Regularly, wheel alignments take little to no time to complete. You’re not replacing anything, it’s just a process of readjusting the wheels. With a skilled mechanic, and if your wheels don’t require significant realignment, it takes as little as 20 minutes. If more serious inspections and readjustments need to be done, that could take up to 1 hour to finish.
It’s definitely a great idea, if you have the time, to compare prices for an alignment cost of the shops and dealers near you. Often, the cost itself is the difference of $10 or none at all. However, different shops or chains might offer additional warranties, perks, or other services that might interest you. There are loads of sites online where you can compare pricing between workshops in your area.
These tools have been tried and tested by our team, they are ideal for fixing your car at home.

If the car has poor handling or stability - this is the first sign that the corners are not accurately adjusted, exactly those under which the wheels of the car should be directly located. This problem in the car is also called as the resulting violations collapse wheel alignment. Correct toe wheels is a guarantee that your car will be stable on the roads. To determine the correct wheel alignment , you need to calculate the difference between the rims front wheel position and rear wheel position. Such measurements must be carried out between the same points of the wheels at the height of their center. If they are not normal, then it is necessary to adjust this convergence, but in order to in order to accurately determine the convergence point, it is necessary to use special equipment, which is always used by car service stations, which we are. Our masters first of all check the fastening of the steering linkage of the lever to the rack and how strong it is. As well as the connection of cones, fingers, steering rods, camber, etc. If you have already repaired the chassis of your car, then do not hinder the implementation of camber toe , by adjusting it.
How are the wheels adjusted? By changing the length of the side steering rods. For this First, our specialists loosen the clamps and adjusting couplings by turning them in opposite directions, which changes the length of the side rods. After that, the clamps are tightened again so that after tightening their ends did not touch each other.
But in order to carry out the camber, it is necessary to make sure that the tires have normal pressure air. In this case, the tires should not be worn out and the disks should be bent and the steering wheel should be free to move. And before checking the collapse itself, our master will initially check for serviceability the hinges of the levers, ball joints, shock absorber rods, and Only then will he begin to check the camber of the wheels. Camber he will check using the number of spacers between the cross member or the turn of the eccentric and the axis of the lower arm.
That we will answer exactly - our car service is waiting for you, because alignment collapse , can only be carried out at the stand! After all, the collapse of the convergence has not a great cost, so do not save on your safety and it's not worth it. And do not believe those who tell you that they can adjust the installation angles even without special equipment - this is simply not realistic. Since the difference is only 0.5 degrees, end sadly for you, as if it can be done only at the stand. We carry out wheel alignment for various vehicles. We make gathering collapse in all districts of Moscow: Southern Administrative District, ZAO, SAO, SVAO, Central Administrative District, SZAO, SEAD, SWAD, VAO. Therefore, please contact because wheel alignment does not have a big price for us, and repairs after an accident will cost much more than your car.

Pluses: Well extinguishes small irregularities, quiet.
When I changed shoes, I noticed that the inscription in the middle of the running part is still clearly visible.
Minuses: None
Comment: I like everything!
Gribanov I., 11/27/2019
Pros: Fairly quiet tires and soft. passes water obstacles without aquaplaning even at a decent speed. Although the weight of the car still plays here. I have it almost 2.5 tons.
Disadvantages: soft and wears out quickly. sides are weak. it is better not to scratch the curbs.
Comment: I liked the tires. I am not a fan of off-road driving and overcoming curbs. I ride more in the middle of the city. I take these wheels for the second time. because very good impression
Roman Sazonov, 11/15/2019
Pluses: Quiet compared to Hakka green, the road keeps normal that wet that dry.
Disadvantages: Dislikes rutting (rudder needs to be held) no problems on relatively smooth asphalt.
Comment: For this money, it is simply out of competition, namely 205/55R16 for 2700. I drove more than 10 thousand in four months, there is no particular wear and tear. Although in the store where I bought and beaded they said that it would be erased very quickly, much faster than Green, the latter required replacement after 30 thousand mileage. By the way, the tires are marked made in korea, although they pass through all the docks like China. All in all, I highly recommend these tires.
Ivan Zh., 09.10.2019
Advantages: price, according to reviews hydroplaning resistance
Disadvantages: did not reveal
Comment: much quieter than Goodyear. It goes smoothly, there are no demolitions, the size 225/50/17 is satisfied
dmitry sh. , 08.10.2019
Pros: Not a bad tire, value for money.
Disadvantages: not found.
Comment: Good tires for the money, especially pure Korea.
Linkov D., 08.09.2019
Advantages: quiet, soft, not expensive, high-quality rubber. small irregularities eats with a bang. confidently behaves both on dry and wet roads.
Disadvantages: because of the softness, the pressure in the wheels has to be maintained at a pressure of 2.3.
Sergey F., 08/22/2019
Pros: quiet, soft, looks good. perfectly balanced. low price
Disadvantages: not found.
Comment: I put ss on the trade wind. 225 * 55 * 17 before that there was a continental, michelin, they seem to be oak in comparison with the marshal, although the price is 2 times lower. road holding is excellent.
Leo n., 08/16/2019
Advantages: The most important advantage is the price, low noise level, softness, confident grip on any surface, good hydroplaning resistance. I can’t say anything more, only the first 600 km have passed.
Disadvantages:
Disadvantages are due to its merits, due to the softness of the rubber and the sidewall, a delayed reaction to the steering wheel, poor directional stability, especially on roads with longitudinal irregularities, alas, most of these roads in Russia. But comfort in the pits and joints. soft even with such a low profile.
Comment: Took Mazda 6 with 2.5L. 170l.s to replace danlop sp sport 225/45/18 I took it in size 235/45/18 I wanted it to be softer and have a higher profile. Rubber is very soft and comfortable, for a relaxed driving style. Not suitable for racing, belated reaction to the steering wheel during sharp maneuvering. On roads with sloping gauges, there is a strong withdrawal from the trajectory, especially at speeds of about 100-120 km / h. You need to hold the steering wheel firmly on the track, it constantly walks, but on good sections with new asphalt it keeps the road well, you can relax. Very quiet.
The exact opposite of dunlop, that one is tough. slippery, but makes it possible to feel the car well.
Suitable for calm, prudent drivers for whom comfort is of primary importance. It may behave differently in other sizes. For the money this is a good option overall.
I can not yet judge the strength and wear resistance. drove 600em., I will add a review later.
Oleg Merzlikin, 08/13/2019
Advantages: Price, appearance, driving performance
Disadvantages: Not found
Comment: I bought it to replace a worn out Bridgestone Sports Tourer MY-01, I am very pleased with the purchase! After the chaise, it became much softer and quieter, the salon stopped rattling =) In connection with the latest rubber prices, I consider the purchase successful. Let's see how long it lasts. (Bridgestone plowed 6 years 60-70k mileage) Auto: Opel Vectra B
07/19/2019
Pluses: Very good soft rubber. When compared with other models that I have exploited and observed on other cars, we can say the quietest. It holds the road perfectly, I change my shoes for the winter quite late, it turns out to ride on ice and snow, and not just on asphalt.
Disadvantages: Subject to "rutting"
Comment: Four years ago I put myself on a Ford Kuga. Today I bought the same model for my wife on a Ford Focus. I think that says something :)
Artur E., 07/19/2019
Pros: price - quality!!!
Disadvantages: a bit noisy
Comment: For the money it is better than any Chinese and almost on a par with German.
Name hidden, 07/10/2019
Advantages: price, wear-resistant, hold very well in wet weather
Disadvantages: noise
Comment: Skated 3 seasons on these tires. The tires themselves are of medium hardness, they hold a blow perfectly, not a single hernia has come out for 40 t.km. wear during this time amounted to 30%. Excellent grip on wet roads. Dry is acceptable. Misbehaves in a rut, can't get out. At temperatures around 0, as in the all season. One big downside is the noise. Buzzing louder than winter spiked Bridgestones.
And so excellent rubber for rain.
Name hidden, 06/27/2019
Advantages: Moderately hard, good pattern, does not blow away on dry pavement when braking
Disadvantages: When driving, the steering wheel constantly walks, there is no confidence on a wet road, they float
Comment: I bought these tires quite by accident, without reading reviews or any comments - I was driving along the highway on my old, native tires (hancook) and caught a hole. Two right balloons for ejection. I got to a nearby store and bought the cheapest option in order to get to my destination. The choice fell on these tires 225X45X18. In the store they changed them for me. When I first started, the car now and then led to the left, then to the right. I thought - new ones, after a couple of tens of kilometers they will rub in, but this did not happen. Previously, it happened to let go of the steering wheel for a couple of seconds (take the phone or pick your nose;)), then I forgot to think about it. Constantly had to hold it, steer. The KIA Optima car, new, after 200 km I took it to the service, I thought maybe after the pit it led that, they checked the alignment, balancing, everything is in order. Swapped tires, didn't help. Yes, after 500 km, they began to keep the road more evenly, but still I’m afraid to let go of the steering wheel even for a second, it blows me away. During the rain, when braking, there is a demolition, the systems work (this has never happened to relatives), they stood up confidently on dry pavement, though with a squeal. Acceleration, both wet and dry, is quite normal, without slipping, I caught pits a couple more times, I thought the racks would fly out and the disks would go to a landfill, but everything worked out, even hernias didn’t come out on the tires (a huge fat plus tires). Finishing the second season, the wear is negligible. If I'm lucky, I'll skate the third season, but I won't take new ones like that anymore.
PS Added about 2 months after the first review.
Still, everything has a resource ... Earlier (on these tires), I stopped paying attention to pits: if it hit, it hit, it's okay, I even stopped checking to go out, but ... here, the other day, at low speed ( 80-100), I caught a slot in the asphalt (apparently they cut it out for a lying person, or for something else), the slot was not deep, but with sharp corners. The result - 2 hernias on the front wheels. I went to the service, they said you can try to patch it up and put it back only, but you yourself understand ..
Arnold D. , 06/09/2019
Advantages: Inexpensive, made in Korea, good tread pattern, weights no more than 20 g during balancing turned out, quiet. It is generally pleasant to take rubber in hand, it is clear that it has been done culturally. The car goes into corners well and generally rulitsya perfectly, including on roads with rutting. UPDATE from 08/22/19: a year and a half, 9 thousand km. Wear has not yet begun, in the photo the inscription on the central track is still intact.
Faults: None identified yet. There is one point: there are permutations of 10 cm in the track: you drive along a lane with a rut, it seems to be even, then - hop! - yaw by 10 centimeters - caught - then again okay. It's not often, but it happens.
Commentary: The roads are almost all rutted, and besides problems with taxiing, there is another danger: as soon as there is even a little rain, the ruts are filled with water more than the rest of the surface, and at speeds above 80 km / h I steam once caught hydroplaning in a rut (from the factory was Michelin Primacy HP). So I decided to put softer tires on the front and with a more rainy pattern. ADDENDUM from 09.12.2018. The warm season skated, 6 thousand km. No wear yet, not noticeable at all. I drove a couple of times specifically into puddles at 60 km / h, moreover, the right wheel was on the water, and the left one on dry land: there was no pull from the side, the rubber squeezed out the water perfectly. A week ago, we had snow, the road immediately looked glossy, and the rubber had an excellent grip ... there were, of course, small course "festivities" in the turns, but they were easily parried by the steering wheel. To tell the truth, I didn’t immediately realize that there was gloss under the wheels, but only when the Kalina from the adjoining one drove straight with the wheels turned to the right, and then I saw ice in the light of oncoming headlights ... and so I drove about 10 km on a very slippery road and did not feel it at all.

Advantages: Value for money with a large margin on the side of quality
Disadvantages: Did not find
Comment: They cling to asphalt perfectly in both dry and wet weather. Quiet!!! Quieter even bridgestone sport tourer, which seemed to me nowhere quieter.
The review about 225/45 on the kia optima made me laugh, I would have pulled it on the 20th discs right away, why was it modest?)) And the review is about nothing, skated for two seasons - rejoice! The fact that the rubber is soft is true, so to each his own, show-off for a penny or comfort for a penny.

Pros: Not noisy and good handling.
Faults: None

Pluses: Value for money, very good road holding on any surface.
Disadvantages: a bit noisy when new, after a week it gets quieter. In a directional pattern, in principle, this is the norm.
Comment: I really liked the behavior on the road, the joints swallow well, on the previous rubber it seemed that the suspension was smashed into the trash. I have a size 225/45 R18 made in Korea. I advise, I will gladly take more.

Advantages: after Nokia Green, riding on this rubber is softer, quieter, more comfortable!
Disadvantages: not yet found.
Comment: Good tires, worth the money without question. I recommend.

Advantages: Low cost; high shifting speed and excellent response on wet surfaces, which they cannot boast of when driving on dry surfaces. Quite a long tread resource (done 20 thousand km until they lost their properties).
Weaknesses: Noise; high sensitivity to all irregularities and the type of roadway; uncertain "zero"; often have to steer.
Comment: I am satisfied with the purchase, 20k for a set of 225/45 r18, this is almost for nothing. I haven't been able to find an alternative for the money yet. If I get rich, I'll buy a Nokian Hakka Z.

Pros: Price
Disadvantages: Too soft you can forget a couple of seconds (as my wife says - it's for the best). On winter hackappelite 5, acceleration on smooth asphalt without hands up to 100 and also braking, the car does not leave the trajectory at all, this trick will not work on this rubber, you always need to steer, on a flat road, on a track, on a primer, etc. . Of course, there are also positive aspects, the rubber very gently passes through small pits, bumps, pebbles, etc., it is quite quiet. In general, my wife likes that the car is not as wild as mine (on continental contisportcontact 5 245/45/17), as for me it is too soft. Perhaps on a lower profile, the rubber behaves better, but in small sizes and on slow cars, it's just perfect.

Advantages: Quiet and soft
Disadvantages: Not found yet
Comment: I just installed it. I rode a Bridgestone Turanza for 5 years, and changed the tires for the first time. first felt the joy of driving.

Advantages: Controllability and interaction with the car's brake system (tested on unpredictable, sorry, girls driving!)
Disadvantages: Not detected
serpentines). In fact, its full size is not R, but ZR (with additional protection of the side edge of the tire) - tested by "sudden" pits on the doghors ... it works!

Advantages: Price-quality
Disadvantages: no
Comment: Balanced well - maximum 20-30 gr. per wheel (225/45/17). In terms of noise level - no howling is heard, fine gravel eats with a bang. Excellent dry road holding, and on wet pavement did not experience any problems. I recommend

Advantages: I like everything
Disadvantages: No
yet 101W XL, I was afraid that, based on the marking, it would be tough. But it turned out to be softer, both the tread and the sidewall.
