Wheel static balancing must be done after tire fitting.
When mounting a tire, it is advisable to check the integrity and runout of the disc. If the disc is damaged or deformed, it must be repaired before balancing. For balancing, it is necessary to hang the wheel on a horizontal, freely rotating axle. For this, it is convenient to use a special stand. The wheels are balanced with inflated tires and brake discs. The rear wheel is sometimes also balanced with a star if it is rigidly attached to the disk (for exact information, see the manual of the specific motorcycle model).
1) Rock the wheel. When it stops, the heaviest point of the wheel will be at the bottom (point X1).
2) Rotate the wheel 90 degrees and release. Make sure point X1 is in the same place. If it is displaced, do the operation several times to select the middle position. This happens if the disk is warped.
3) Set the weight against the heaviest point X1. It is better to start with the smallest and stick it not completely, so that it is easier to remove.
4) Turn the wheels 90 degrees and release. If the load will return upward, then the point X1 outweighs it, and the load must be added. Add weights until the wheel moves through a 90 degree turn.
5) If the wheel is static (does not move) in various positions, remove the test weights and glue new ones after degreasing the surface. It is ideal to use weights on the central edge of the disc (for spoked wheels - weights on the spokes), but we do not sell such weights. Therefore, it is necessary to glue the loads symmetrically on both sides of the disc.
6) If the wheel is not static in some positions, it is recommended to do the balancing again from scratch. The reasons may be that the wheel is not rigidly fixed on the axle; the disk or rubber is deformed; rubber is not installed coaxially with the valve; bearings are heavily worn; if the wheel is spoked, it may have dynamic runout due to poorly stretched spokes.
The video shows the process more clearly! The front wheel from the BMW K1100LT has a slight dent, but that didn't stop it from achieving static balance.

This article will tell and show you how to make a motorcycle wheel balancer and how to balance a motorcycle wheel with it.
Also, this device is useful for aligning spoked wheels by tightening the spokes and checking them with an indicator.
The simplest wheel balancing is static, when the wheel is put on an axle and this axle is fixed, for example, in a large vise. In this case, the heaviest part of the wheel will certainly sink to the bottom under the influence of gravity. The part of the wheel that will be at the top is the light part and a lead weight of such a weight is glued (or put on a spoke) at which the wheel stops spinning (balances).
And as mentioned above, you can, of course, clamp the wheel axle in a large vise and balance or level it there, but it is much more convenient to work if you make a simple wheel balancing device. You can make it in just a few hours.
It is especially convenient to work on such a device when it is necessary to align the “eight” or “egg” on a spoked wheel (I described how to do it correctly here). And during operation, the wheel together with the universal axle can be removed or returned very quickly.
And when making a wheel from scratch, I have to assemble a spoked wheel when its axle has not yet been machined, and the universal axle of this device will fix any wheel.
Parts of the wheel balancer.
The base of the fixture is a metal base made of a steel plate (sheet metal (thickness 10-12 mm) or a channel, or just two shaped pipes (as in the photo on the left), or anything. They are welded to the base or two racks of the same height are screwed, made from scraps of a profile pipe.0004
The length of the racks should be such that the wheel with the largest diameter tire (with which you are going to work) does not touch the base (so that there is a gap of 50 millimeters) and rotates freely. That is, the larger the diameter of the wheel, the higher the rack.
In the upper part of each rack we drill two holes and screw in two axles (see their drawing on the left) with two bearings, the diameter of the outer race of the bearings is approximately 25 - 30 mm.
It will be necessary to machine four axles for these bearings.
Diameter A on the axle must be the same as the inner diameter of the inner race of the bearings to be used. And distance B must be equal to the width of the inner race of the bearings to be used.
Bearings with axles should be mounted so that they are located as close to each other as possible, but so that the bearings do not touch each other (the gap between them is about a couple of mm).
Instead of the turned shafts shown in the drawing above, you can use ordinary bolts or hex bolts, as seen in the photo below, but the diameter of the bolts must be such that the bearing fits tightly on it. When using bolts, washers should be put on them so that the bearings do not rub against the rack.
After fixing the racks to the base and fixing the bearings on the racks, it remains to order the turner to turn the cones (see the figure on the left and the photo below) for the universal wheel axle, and as an axle you can use a regular bar with a diameter of 12 - 14 mm.
The length of this rod should be equal to the distance from the rack to the rack, that is, so that the axis lies between the bearings of the right rack and the left rack.
The outer diameter of the cones is approximately 30 - 40 mm, and the inner diameter of the cones should be a couple of acres larger than the diameter of the axis (rod). In addition, a hole should be drilled in each cone (we drill perpendicular to the main inner hole and axis).
Hole diameter 5 mm (if M6 thread will be cut) or 7 mm if M8 thread will be cut. Screws fixing the cones are screwed into these holes (they are visible in the photo on the left).
Preparation for balancing.
Before balancing, take the axle, remove one cone from it and insert the axle into the regular wheel bearings. Naturally, the axle will hang in the inner races of the bearings, and in order to eliminate the chatter, we put a second cone on the axle and bring the cones close to the inner races of the wheel bearings, so that the wheel is in the middle of the axle.

The codes do not go beyond 150mm in width. With these tires, the first number of the tire size is not the actual width, it is just a number. The M-code is what tells you the actual width.
Two rim locks opposite each other don't require any more Dyna Beads other than stated above, as they have a tendency to cancel each other out.
