ATV Owner's Manual

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will keep your ATV running safely and for a long time. Control, lubrication, cleaning, adjustment and replacement of parts are carried out according to the regulations or as needed. Without the appropriate knowledge and qualifications, these procedures are best carried out at official CFMOTO service centers.

First check the oil level and quality in the engine, gearbox, front and rear gears. Then proceed to other procedures:

  • Oil filter change;
  • Coolant level check and replacement;
  • Checking the condition of the anthers of the CV joints;
  • Check spark plugs;
  • Air filter cleaning;
  • Removing and cleaning the spark arrester;
  • CVT cleaning;
  • Throttle test;
  • Valve clearance adjustment for intake and exhaust valves;
  • Adjustment of the free and total stroke of the throttle trigger;
  • Checking the front and rear brake pads;
  • Check and change brake fluid;
  • Front brake lever free play adjustment;
  • Adjustment of the brake pedal, brake light switch;
  • Checking the condition of the wheel bearings;
  • Servicing the anti-roll bar;
  • Battery maintenance, fuse replacement;
  • Adjustment and replacement of headlight bulbs;
  • Spring pretensioner, rebound and compression adjustment;
  • Cable lubrication.

Maintenance and storage

ATV care includes:

  • Washing, polishing, cleaning;
  • Adding a stabilizer to the fuel;
  • Lubrication of the internal parts of the engine;
  • Removing and preparing the battery for storage;
  • Installing plugs;
  • Coolant density test;
  • CVT pulley preparation.

Store the ATV in a cool, dry place, covered with an opaque tarp or cover.

Recommended oils

For the engine - semi-synthetic oils CFMOTO G-MOTION 10W40 4T and 5W40 4T with a temperature range of application from -30 to +40.

For the gearbox, front and rear gearboxes - Gazpromneft 80W-90 GL-5 transmission oil.

G-MOTION engine oils are specially designed for maximum damping of loads on 4-stroke engines of CFMOTO ATVs, have an increased reserve of protective properties that allow for uninterrupted operation of the engine in all operating modes, including extreme ones, and increase the service life of equipment. The oil consists of high-quality base components and additives with an optimal chemical composition. Their use guarantees the maximum service life of the CFMOTO ATV.

Automotive ATV oils are not suitable. The use of fuels and lubricants that do not comply with the manufacturer's recommendations can disable the equipment with serious consequences for the budget.

Safety Instructions

Be trained and instructed before using the ATV. Persons under 16 years of age are not allowed to drive. It is forbidden to operate an ATV without protective equipment - a helmet, eye protection, gloves, boots, long sleeves and trousers. You cannot operate machinery while intoxicated.

Check the ATV for proper operation before using it. Hands should always be on the handlebars and feet on the footrests. Do not drive the ATV too fast - speed should be appropriate for the terrain, visibility and riding experience.

Do not walk on the ice of a frozen body of water. Do not cross water obstacles, the depth of which is higher than the level of the footrests of the ATV - this can damage the equipment. Carry passengers in seats and never in the trunk.

Take extra care when driving in unfamiliar terrain. Also, be extremely careful when reversing, slipping, overcoming obstacles.

Use only tires designed for your model and maintain the recommended pressure. Tuning the ATV only with branded accessories.

In the event of serious malfunctions, we recommend that you contact your nearest CFMOTO Service Center.

Proper braking technique on a motorcycle

Even experienced riders sometimes make mistakes - for example, brake only the front wheel. In this article, we will reveal the physics of braking on a motorcycle and tell you how to learn how to properly brake - including emergency, on slippery roads and in corners.

What factors affect braking

  • The quality of adhesion of wheels to asphalt. The better the grip, the more stable the motorcycle is on the road.
  • Contact patch - the point of contact of the wheel with the road surface. The larger it is, the easier it is to brake the wheel.
  • Wheel load. The higher it is, the easier it is to brake.

Which wheel to brake?

Approximately 70% of the braking force should be applied to the front wheel and 30% to the rear. This is due to the fact that when braking, the center of gravity shifts from one wheel to another. At this point, the rear wheel is easier to block, but the front wheel is more difficult, which can cause you to lose control of the motorcycle. Therefore, it is worth braking with both brakes. Downshifting also helps to slow down.

Road, sport and other short wheelbase motorcycles with a high center of gravity are best stopped by the front wheel. But cruisers and choppers have a long base and a low center of gravity. This means that it is better to brake them with the rear wheel, but this does not negate the leading role of the front brake.

Since the brakes on each motorcycle work differently, you need to test them in a free area - check the force and combination of both brakes. You can see that if you hit the front brake hard, the rear wheel can lift off the ground and you can tumble forward. If you sharply apply the rear brake, the motorcycle will skid.

To brake, lean on the rear wheel until the motorcycle leans slightly. Slowly but firmly apply the front brake lever. The length of the braking distance will depend on how hard you press the front brake lever.

Things to watch out for

  • Turn off the throttle before braking to prevent falls.
  • Depress the front brake handle gently and then gradually increase the force - this will protect against wheel lock and fall.
  • Keep your fingers on the brake to avoid panic and apply the lever smoothly instead of abruptly.
  • Do not press on the steering wheel - this complicates the operation of the brakes and increases the risk of "flying" forward.
  • Straighten your arms as if you are pushing the handlebars - this will increase the resistance to inertia and shift the center of gravity to the rear wheel, which in turn will increase the controllability of the motorcycle.

Emergency braking

Even experienced riders in a critical situation can forget about the rear brake - the hand on the machine presses the front handle. As a result, the motorcycle becomes uncontrollable and may fall. The point is that 90% of the load during heavy braking takes the front wheel.

If you are used to braking with the front brake, try to make sure that the rear also participates in braking. The main braking force will, as before, fall on the front wheel. However, the use of the rear brake will have a positive effect on the behavior of the motorcycle: its movement will be more stable and predictable.

Algorithm

  1. Gently apply the rear brake.
  2. Downshift the motorcycle.
  3. Apply the front brake almost until the wheel is completely locked. However, feel the effort to prevent the blockage.
  4. Downshift again.

Braking on a slippery road

Slippery road does not negate the principles of braking, but there are nuances.
