A wheelbarrow is an important gardening tool to save time on transporting large amounts of soil or amendments without making as many trips with packages or bags. Wheelbarrows provide a good place to mix soils with a shovel or to mix dry concrete with water for installing fence posts. Homeowners use wheelbarrows for transporting plants for planting and removal of yard debris. Adding a tire with an inner tube makes for easier repairs in the event of a puncture. Installing the tire and tube correctly requires only a few common household tools.
Place your wheelbarrow tire on a flat surface such as a workbench or countertop. If installing a new tire with the tube, first press one side of the tire onto the rim, pushing it on with your fingers, working around the rim in a circle. If necessary, use the flat head of a screwdriver to push the sidewall onto the rim. Then flip the tire over, leaving the side not yet installed on the rim facing up. If installing a tube with the current tire, insert the flathead screwdriver between the tire sidewall and the rim. Push the screwdriver handle in the opposite direction, using it as a lever to pop one side of the tire off the rim. Keeping the tip of the screwdriver between the tire sidewall and the wheel rim, work around the tire in a circle until the entire sidewall is free of the rim.
Sprinkle baby powder on a new inner tube and rub it on all sides. Locate the hole in the rim for the valve stem on the inner tube. Unscrew the inner tube's valve cap and set it aside. Pull up on the tire sidewall and insert the inner tube onto the rim, working it around and into the inner part of the tire. Align the valve stem with its opening in the rim and press it through the hole.
Insert the tip of the flathead screwdriver between the top half of the tire and rim. Hold the screwdriver tip down and press the tire's top half onto the rim. Turn the tire and move the screwdriver around the rim until the top half is on the rim. Remove the screwdriver, place one hand on each side of the tire and press it down while turning it in a circle to fully seat the tire's top half on the rim.
Press upward on the tire underneath the valve stem to move it outward from the rim. Attach an air compressor hose to the valve stem and fill the tire with air up to the maximum air pressure stated on the sidewall. Check the air in the tire with a tire gauge to obtain the correct air pressure. If it is too full, press the center pin to release air from the tire. Screw the valve cap onto the valve stem.
Insert the wheel onto the axle on your wheelbarrow. Insert the axle into the mounting plates and tighten the nuts to hold the axle in place with an adjustable wrench.

If your wheelbarrow has a flat tire, you have several options to solve this problem. Starting with repair. Is that worth it? It can certainly pay off to get started with tools, even if it is not an easy job. A standard wheelbarrow wheel is equipped with a tubeless tire. That means there is no inner tube in it. The air pressure ensures that the wheel clamps around the rim, as it were. A plug is then fitted in the rim into which you can pump air with an air pump for car tires.
However, inner tubes are available for wheelbarrow wheels. Proceed as follows: You remove the tire from the rim. Then take a pair of pliers and pull the plug out of the rim. It may appear to be stuck in it, but will eventually need to be removed to make room for the inner tube valve. If you have placed the inner tube around the rim, the outer tire can go around it. Make sure that the inner tube is not twisted. The inner tube has a valve that can be inflated with a bicycle pump. Inflate the tire manually until your wheelbarrow wheel is hard enough again. After putting the wheelbarrow wheel back in the wheelbarrow, you can get back to work. The inner tubes are available at various construction and green markets and for sale online. It takes some time and effort, but it is the cheapest option you have.
In some cases, a wheelbarrow tire can no longer be saved. Or perhaps you do not want to repair the wheelbarrow wheel for other reasons. Then fortunately you have a wide choice of all wheelbarrow wheels that are available. Wheelbarrow wheels are available both online and at various stores and you can choose from pneumatic tire wheels and the puncture wheels. Pneumatic tires are available in different shapes and sizes. With a plastic rim or steel rim, with different types of profile and it depends on what the purposes and intensity of the work is that partly determines which wheel suits you best.
Of course you want to prevent the tire of your wheelbarrow from going flat and in such a case an anti-puncture wheel is the best option. It's a slightly bigger investment, but these wheels, which are equipped with full foam tires and are available for various purposes and target groups, cannot be punctured. You are therefore assured that you will no longer have a flat tire when you place an puncture proof wheel in your wheelbarrow. This way you will never again be surprised when you want to use the wheelbarrow.
It goes without saying that if you want to prevent the tire of your wheelbarrow wheel from going flat, it is best to avoid sharp objects. But you will be surprised that most people who are surprised with a flat wheelbarrow tire cause this themselves by storing the wheelbarrow incorrectly. The advice is: when you have finished the job, empty and clean the wheelbarrow and put it upright against a wall. A wheelbarrow wheel can always lose some air, but when the weight of the wheelbarrow, with or without load, rests on the wheel, this process will be faster. This also applies to puncture wheels that, due to the weight of the wheelbarrow and possibly the load, flatten where the tire touches the ground. Therefore, always put the wheelbarrow upright and make sure that you do not come across an unexpected flat tire.
Often, spending very little time, you can avoid additional costs, which are already enough for those who spend the summer in the country and in country houses, taking care of buildings, gardens and gardens. In this particular case, the conversation, or rather, the video sequence, will be about how to bring the wheel of a garden cart back to life in a few minutes. A garden wheelbarrow in the country is never idle: take out the garbage, then bring building materials, then transport the crop. And, of course, with such intensive use, the wheel periodically fails: the tire is punctured, the chamber bursts, etc. But, before you go to the market and buy a new wheel, see how quickly you can disassemble the wheel, patch it, or, in case of significant damage, replace the tube and tire, and return everything to its original form.
We want you to see how easy it is to replace a punctured, cracked, or simply worn tube wheelbarrow wheel . Of course, we do this job every day, and we boarded several hundred thousand of these wheels before we decided to post this video. The video lasts only a couple of minutes, but after watching it and following the simple sequence of actions we perform, you will be spared unnecessary time costs.
Wheel mounted on garden wheelbarrow is typically 3.25-8, slightly smaller in diameter than wheelbarrow for construction wheelbarrow .
First you need to unscrew the spool and completely deflate the wheel to make it easier to remove the tube tire from the rim.
Then we insert the new tube into the tire, be sure to carefully straighten it around the entire circumference inside the tire.
Once, on a video about the repair of a construction wheelbarrow wheel, we received a comment from a man in which he assured us that our inner tube with a tire was made of soft rubber, while his was made of oak and it was impossible to do what was shown in the video. So, if you carefully distribute the tube inside the tire before you put all this on the rim, any tire set, of course, if it is matched to the size of the rim, regardless of the softness of the rubber, will definitely fit on the rim.
If we don't do it with due diligence, then we won't put the kit on the disk. There is no need to watch how quickly the person in the video does this work, he does it all the time, just pay attention to how carefully the tire set is prepared before putting on the disk.
The next step is to insert the nipple into the hole on the disk and insert the pre-assembled tire kit with the inner chamber with force in a circle.
Inflate the wheel and close the nipple with a cap. That's it!
In the video, we use a compressor to inflate a tire, but it can be inflated almost as quickly with a conventional car pump. Everything else is done exclusively by hand and does not require any improvised means.
And in conclusion, once again I would like to draw your attention to the fact that if something does not work out for you, then this happens not because the rubber is “oak”, but because the sequence of actions is violated.
We often have to bead the wheels in winter, at minus 15. Knowing the properties of rubber, you can easily guess that any rubber will be “oak” at such a temperature, but we spend exactly the same amount of time as in this video.
Wheel bearing replacement
Choosing a wheel for a garden wheelbarrow
If necessary, a garden wheelbarrow helps to constantly drag various loads across the land. A wide range of models is produced, differing in size, material of parts and other parameters. Sometimes equipment needs repair. For example, changing tires. Let's figure out how to do it yourself.

The chamber contains compressed air. It is required to cushion and support equipment on the go. The chamber may be damaged if it runs out of air. This happens quite often. In this case, it is necessary to replace the wheels.
The process consists of the following steps:
The replacement process is quite simple - even a beginner can handle it.

To make the wheelbarrow more useful, its wheels must be chosen correctly. It is worth considering the place where the equipment will be operated. If there is a lot of debris, stones on the territory, it is recommended to stop at molded rubber or polyurethane foam. For uneven terrain, pneumatic tires are suitable.
The size of the wheel determines how easy it is to drive the wheelbarrow. The larger it is, the easier it will be to transport the cargo.
When choosing the size, consider the diameter of the axle on which the tire will be mounted. The material from which the tires are made also matters. Modern models do not need constant pumping, which makes it easier to use a wheelbarrow. Available in the following varieties:
When choosing a material, possible loads and the place of use of the inventory are taken into account.
Also, the wheels are divided into inflatable and cast. Load is also taken into account here. Cast models are used on heavy-duty wheelbarrows, often used in construction.
Inflatable wheels are equipped with garden versions. It is worth remembering that they are easily torn, therefore they are not suitable for use in areas where there is a lot of broken glass, brick particles and other things.

Inflatable wheels make the equipment easy to use. These tires improve cushioning. They are light in weight, which increases the convenience of driving a wheelbarrow.
Hard tires are also available. They are made of metal or nylon. Rarely used for garden equipment. They are used on smooth surfaces and are more suitable for concrete or asphalt areas.
The key reason for the failure is that the wheels contain a minimal amount of natural rubber.
