How to load tires in a container

How to Lace Tires for Delivery

by Tim Plaehn

tires stacked in herringbone design image by Zhann from Fotolia.com

A laced stack of tires is the conventional shipping method to load the maximum amount of tires into a box truck or container. A truck load of laced tires is also more stable than if the tires were carried in stacks. Lacing works best with tires of the same or similar sizes. With practice, the person stacking the tires can adjust the lacing pattern to best suit the tire and container sizes.

Step 1

Lay one tire flat in the corner of the space to be loaded with laced tires. This tire will be the base for the lacing pattern. If a truck is being loaded, this tire will be at the front of the cargo box in one corner.

Step 2

Lay one tire across the base tire with an edge of the tire on the floor or deck and the new tire leaning on the base tire. The angle of the tire should be fairly flat and the center of the angled tire should be solidly positioned over the edge of the base tire.

Step 3

Lay a row of angled tires across the space, lying on top of and parallel with the first angled tire and subsequent tires. The result will be a row of tires angled on top of each other across the width of the container. One edge of each tire will be touching the deck.

Step 4

Start a second row of tires angling one tire in the opposite direction across the last tire laid on the first row. This tire will have its lower edge in the center of the next to last tire on the first row and will have its center lie across the edge of the last tire in the first row. The tire should fit solidly on top of the last two tires in the lower row.

Step 5

Lay the rest of the tires in the second row, angled opposite the first row with the lower edge of the tire settled into the center opening of the tire below.

Step 6

Place the third row of tires at the same angle as row 1 and positioned on the tires on the second row. Repeat the alternating rows until the desired height is reached.

Step 7

Place another stack of laced tires in front of the first stack -- toward the rear of the truck -- to continue to fill the truck with stacked rows of laced tires.

Tips

  • Upright tires can be strategically placed at the ends of lacing rows to provide stability.
  • A well laced stack of tires should be stable and not wobble when bumped or lightly pushed.
  • After the first two rows of tires are positioned, the remaining rows should fit naturally into position.

1. Only at monstertyres you decide what price you pay. How does it work?

At monstertyres every client can make his own price for the used tyres. You pay the least if you buy the whole Contingent of used tyres. Then youll get 10 % discount of the normal price. The more choosy you are, the more you pay for the tyres. Between 80 and 99 % you pay the normal price, see prices. If you take less than 80 % of a contingent you anyway pay 80 %. The reason for this rule is that our prices are average prices per tire. This means, you always pay the same price for each tire in the contingent.

Our standard price applies, when the customer buys more than 80% of a contingent.

Our best price applies, when the customer buys a whole contingent

Our flexible price applies, when the customer buys less than 80% of a complete tire mixture (contingent).

4. What tires do I have to take? What does contingent mean? What is the 80%-rule?

We sell tires only in contingents. A contingent at monstertyres is a mix of many different tire sizes. The amount of tires of a particular size varies from contingent to contingent. At monstertyres it is not possible to buy only 3 or 4 or a few selected tire sizes. We only supply tires to customers that are able to buy many tire sizes marked as "popular" in the inquiry assistant. You can get an idea about which tire sizes are included in a contingent by visiting our export price page or by sending us an export inquiry. Our virtual assistant (Monty) helps you with this. For customers that regularly buy greater amounts of tires, we can arrange contingents according to their requirements: A contingent usually contains 20-30 different tire sizes. In that case you always get our best price.
As mentioned, a monstertyres contingent comprises of 20-30 different tire sizes, depending on the quality selected. back to top

26. How do I make an order / what are the terms of payment?

Once you have sent an inquiry with our Export Inquiry Assistant we will send you an offer. If this offer is acceptable to you and you would like to order the tires then you have to send a confirmation mail and proceed according to our terms of payment. We will send you a mail with our bankdetails.

Terms of Payment:

An order will be confirmed once an advance payment of 20% on the total price, listed in our offer to you, has been transferred to our firm account. Please fax us the fund transfer slip you receive from your bank as proof and the tires will be reserved for you.

The remaining 80% of the funds then have to be transferred onto our account by the date of loading of the tires.

Exception: If you request to get the tires tripled, then the remaining 80% of the funds have to be transferred by the time tripling begins.

Hello hello i am looking for 14/15 size tire for the exporte in west africa

Reply 10/08/2019 - 5:16pm

1.) I am considering order of 40 ft container to be shipped to Abidjan, Cote D'ivoire.
According to the information you provided,1500 tires will fit 40 ft container, while tripling the tires will accommodate 2700 .
However, I was told 40 ft container will fit 4000 tires. Is it possible?
2.) If the tires are required to be tripled, what is the extra cost for providing the service for 40ft container?
3.) Are customers allowed to provide the sizes preferences or your company decide on the sizes which a customer cannot influence?
4. ) Are the sizes of tires in a contingent made available to customers to review before finalizing the deal?
5.) How long will it require your company to get a 40 ft container ready for shipment after all terms have been agreed and payment made?

Hi, i am interested in importing your used tyres. do they meet the uk part worn tyre law? This includes:

Part Worn Tyres and the Law
Under The Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) Regulations 1994 (reg.7.) which are part of the Consumer Protection Act, it is an offence for anyone to sell part worn tyres that do not meet the following principal requirements:

The structural integrity must not be compromised.
It should be free of large cuts, any bulges or lumps both internally and externally.
No plies or cords should be exposed.
Tyres must have passed an inflation test prior to sale.
The original grooves must still be clearly visible in their entirety and must be to a depth of at least 2mm across the full breadth of the tread, around its entire circumference.
Part worn tyres which have not been re-treaded must clearly show the relevant ‘E’ mark alongside which ‘PART-WORN’ must be permanently and legibly applied in letters at least 4mm high.
These words cannot be hot branded or cut into the tyre.
Part-worn tyres that have been re-treaded must have one of the following:

BS AU 144b, 144c, 144d, or 144e markings on the side wall (if first supplied as a re-tread on or before 31 December 2003 an ECE approval mark (if first supplied as a re-tread on or after 1 January 2004)
A permanent mark to identify the original model and manufacturer, the word ‘RETREAD’ moulded onto or into its sidewall (in upper case letters at least 4mm high) and further markings in accordance with ECE rules. You may need to seek further advice as to which rules apply
The indication ‘PART WORN’ must also appear next to the BS or ECE approval mark, or next to the word ‘RETREAD’
For tyres marked BS AU 144e, a speed category symbol and load capacity marking should be present.
A tyre has to comply with all these requirements whether or not it is fitted to a rim.

I have copied the above from a website stating the uk law for selling used tyres. i would be grateful if you could come back to me. Thank you.

How are tires transported?

Tires are one of the most important parts, without which hundreds of millions of vehicles cannot move. Vehicles, not only urban, but also agricultural machinery, cannot do without tires.

More than 10 manufacturers producing car tires are based in the Russian Federation. It should be noted that the volumes of domestic producers are insufficient to meet the needs of the market. In this regard, it is necessary to deliver products from foreign manufacturers to Russia. Most of the tires are imported from Europe, Japan and the USA - the location of the oldest tire concerns with world names. Also worth noting is Southeast Asia. nine0004

Multinational corporations prioritize maintaining consumer confidence in the brand. Therefore, they prefer the same technological processes and consumables.

China was the largest manufacturer and exporter of tires in the Russian Federation, however, after anti-dumping duties were introduced in 2015, deliveries began to be made by Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. Transportation of tires from the above countries is carried out by sea. Products are transported in containers. nine0004

How are tires transported?

Due to poor quality indicators of road surfaces, rapid wear of rubber occurs. In this regard, the demand for them is stable. The main share is represented by parts for passenger vehicles, followed by bicycle tires and after already for trucks. These products are not only imported by Russia, but also exported.

Sea transportation is one of the most optimal ways to move products from any remote country. When delivering by water vessels, a lot of advantages can be noted. nine0004

First of all, it is worth noting the savings due to low tariffs, as well as the possibility of simultaneously moving large volumes of goods. Secondly, by using containers for the delivery of wheels, it is possible to protect goods from a number of external factors. Thirdly, there is no need for repacking if a change of vehicles is planned.

To determine the number of tires that can be transported in a container at a time, it is worth proceeding from their diameter, width and profile height. These products can be transported by placing them on pallets, but their shape is specific, and therefore there is a lot of empty space. Most often, when laying tires, they resort to a "herringbone", an option that implies the location of the product at an angle of 30. This solution is the most appropriate. Due to the tight packing, there is practically no free space, which allows you to place a large amount of products. nine0004

Packaging before transportation is not performed. However, if necessary, the products are wrapped in special paper or plastic sheeting. To pack or not is a condition that is prescribed in the agreement.

In most cases, unified universal containers are used to deliver tires for trucks and cars.

If we are talking about large-sized tires (they are used for special equipment) and have dimensions that exceed the height parameter of standard containers, then Open Top containers are used. In such structures, an awning cover is used instead of a roof. nine0004

Upon arrival at the port of the Russian Federation, the containers are sent to the terminal. Here they are temporarily stored and transshipped. Tires are delivered from the ports to the final destination by vehicles. Transshipment is carried out on trailers or semi-trailers of container ships. These vehicles allow transporting sea containers on highways. Their platforms hold a pair of 20ft or one 40ft container.

Trucking, in this case, refers to the final stage of the multimodal scheme. If the tires are delivered in a batch (as a general cargo), then the movement to the final destination is carried out by trucks. nine0004

What rules should be followed?

Tires are allowed to be transported by any vehicles. Recommended placement in a vertical plane.

If tires with chambers are transported, then experts recommend processing the inside using talc or a special lubricant before shipping. After each of the chambers is filled with air.

If it is planned to load products whose mass exceeds 30 kg, then it is advisable to involve loaders and other mechanisms. nine0004

Regardless of whether it is planned to transport tires in a truck or in a container, it is important to avoid high temperatures, exclude contact of products with substances related to mineral oils, solvents, acids, alkalis and protruding parts of structures. When delivered separately, the chambers are rolled up, while filling the valve inward.

Where is the best place to store tires?

Home /Articles /

The key to a safe ride is a serviceable running gear and the integrity of the wheels. It is possible to preserve the original qualities of tires only with proper seasonal storage. When organizing it, it must be taken into account that winter tires are elastic, but high temperatures are detrimental to them. And summer retains its properties in heat and loses them in the cold. This article explains what should be the "overexposure" of the wheels.

Improper storage is fraught with

First of all, it is necessary to ensure a relatively constant temperature regime. Rubber of any kind is well preserved in a wide range: from -30°С to +35°С. But a sharp temperature drop is harmful to her. It can also delaminate under the influence of UV radiation. Dirt and moisture will begin to accumulate in the network of microcracks that has appeared, which will provoke their further increase. nine0004

The most common mistakes:

  • Lay the tires in a "stack" in a horizontal position without discs. The bottom part will crumble pretty quickly.
  • Place a heavy object on top. Perhaps you were pursuing the goal of building an impromptu stand for the next rows. But under the influence of a large weight, the shape of the product will be deformed.
  • Arrange storage next to the heater. Drying out for the tread is just as harmful as excessive moisture. The appearance of cracks in this case is inevitable. nine0062
  • Avoid high levels of humidity. Metal discs are subject to corrosion processes. The rubber will become loose. The fact is that it contains rubber, for which waterlogging is contraindicated.
  • Wrap the rubber with polyethylene. This option is a 100% guarantee of condensation. Mold with a pungent odor forms inside, which practically cannot be weathered with anything.

It is not difficult to guess what awaits on the road, and what will be the ride on the damaged rubber. If the tightness is violated, the tires burst, which can cause fatal troubles. nine0004

Follow the simple rules

With care, the process of “natural aging” of wheels begins after 3 years of operation. But if at least one of the above violations is committed, then it can be accelerated. This is especially true for winter tires. It is initially softer, so it must be handled with care.

Proper storage of winter or summer tires requires certain conditions to be met:

  • Do not store dirty treads. The accumulated layers are washed out and cleaned. The brush must penetrate the entire depth of the tread. Not only pebbles are removed, but also grains of sand. After washing, drying must be absolute. nine0062
  • Labeling desirable. Specifying PP (front right) or PL (front left) will help you “collect” the car faster next season.
  • Deflate tires to 0.5 atmospheres to avoid deformation.
  • Mark additionally by dividing the wheel into 4 equal parts. This will help with a periodic change in spatial position by 45 °.
  • Treat with protective compound.
  • Pack wheels in separate bags. In this case, it is recommended to avoid tightness. Air supply is required. nine0062
  • Keep away from sources of heat.
  • Do not push tires into tight spaces. The storage location must be spacious so that the product does not shrink.

You can't just stack tires in a convenient place on top of each other. Experts recommend acquiring a special rack in advance to install them in a vertical position.

Where to store tires

The most convenient option is to leave the tires where the car is located. However, not everyone has garages. Renting "for one season" will not solve the problem. After all, most garages are rarely heated. It is difficult for them to maintain the proper temperature regime. And renting a warm one will be unreasonably expensive. nine0004

Car owners go to any lengths in search of a solution. Sometimes you can see an improvised rack right on the stairwell. This is technically a valid storage method. But in practice, it causes a lot of criticism from neighbors. Providing the necessary convenience for yourself, you thereby infringe on the rights of other residents.

Folding tires on an unglazed balcony is the worst idea. This is the most destructive option of all. But, unfortunately, car owners often resort to it. Destructive factors are precipitation, frost, and ultraviolet. nine0004

Summer tires will definitely not last until the start of the season in such conditions. Frost and thaw will nullify its performance. Riding on it would be just dangerous. And the winter in the hot period will “float” - it will become loose.

It is strictly forbidden to use a metal box of the "shell" type for seasonal storage. This is the coldest option for winter and very hot for summer.

Recently new are " hotels" for wheels. They are made from shipping containers. Each metal box is re-planned for a specific purpose. Electrification and tightness make the task easier. nine0004

In such "hotels" optimal conditions are created. The maintenance staff ensures fire safety, maintains the temperature and humidity at the proper level. There are examples of the construction of entire warehouse complexes from containers. You can not be afraid for the safety of your material values, since the storage facilities are guarded around the clock.

You can also buy a used trailer and re-equip it according to your needs. Check out the electronic catalog of our company and choose the right option. You will solve the problem thanks to the robust frame of the models, the hermetic locking system and the possibility of retrofitting them. nine0004

Shelving must be equally spaced from windows and heaters. If space is tight, vertical space can be used. Non-standard solution - placement along the walls under the ceiling. It will help to avoid crowding in an already compact place.

The wheels are suspended from the holes in the rims. But it should be remembered that this method is not suitable for tires without them. Great risk of sagging and deformation. You can also not put them in piles - they will push through the lower ones with their own weight. And any violation of the initially geometric proportions can lead to emergency situations on the road. nine0004

Conclusion

It's not enough to just fit your tires and forget about them. It will require your constant participation. You will need to control the level of humidity and compliance with the temperature regime. If you want to keep all the technical characteristics of the protectors, you will have to change their spatial position (turn over) at least once a month.

You will appreciate the benefits of following these conditions later - on the route during a comfortable ride.
