How to stop players from retiring in madden 17

Solved: Suggestions for Madden 22 Franchise

March 2021

I would love madden 22 to have this update in franchise. A knowledge system where if u trade for a play mid week you can’t just start him. It would be better to ease him into the team until

he learns the playbook. Also a snap count thing kinda like how basketball has minutes. We can adjust a certain snap count for each player to make sure rotations work. We have to be honest the auto subs slider is broken. I feel having the ability to adjust snap counts helps get rookies we drafted playing time as well as mid season players we traded for until there knowledge of the play book is up to par. PLEASE HEAR ME OUT EA!! This would be a huge logic upgrade for madden 22

3 people had this problem.

Hey there @youngsouljaz777 Thank you for your suggestions, I'll pass this on to the team🏈

Been playing Madden a long time been around for some cool features thought I'd share some ideas for future games as a Franchise player.

I'd love to see an expansion of the league history to include team history for all 32 teams including playoff appearances, conference titles, division titles, last playoff appearance, super bowl appearances, and retired numbers.

Speaking of retirement I'd love for there to see an option to override retirement once per player career. And I'd like to seeing players come out of retirement especially ones that didn't make the Hall of Fame or ones that retired early.

Trade override for cpu trades and less so force trades would be nice.

I'd love to see some type of broadcast show/radio show especially a revamp of the playoff presentation.

More staffing options like assistant coaches and the ability to hire former players.

Lastly I'd like to see league expansion, division customization, and full customization options for uniforms, logos, branding etc

When starting a franchise can we get real owners back in? And player ratings blocked so u cant edit them Atleast a option to turn them off. Also a way to edit generated coaches if possible thanks

New commentary, more creativity( like adding trick plays, plays that are in nfl live playbooks could be added to custom, more trading slots like 6) The ability to add superstars and x-factors in the manage roster section, fixed zones and make everything as even as possible, to many INT no one gets mossed( have yall seen d-hop catch) unrealistic gameplay, the ability to make your own plays like put a cb at qb and maybe the ability to make your own personal, formations (te at lb) maybe even a i want 5 people on the field maybe I want 12 (flagged) Also there are no multiple flags called , add refs back on the field, look at madden 25 they even have a reporter and zoom in to the commentary, speaking of commentary Tony Romo and Jim Nantz would be great they are the best commentating duo. There isnt a tutorial for new comers. Theres not a lot to play maybe add 1 more gamemode that not mut or back yard maybe you choose all time team or choose a specific year team dating back to when they started even teams that don’t exist anymore then you play online against other people even play local or even with and against friends

March 2021

  • I have a new idea 4 Madden NFL 22 in face of the franchise mode in face of the franchise mode I thought it would be a good idea to be able to have your player in face of the franchise mode be able to ask for a contract extension or if the team feels that you are playing well enough they can decide if you earned a contract extension or be able to negotiate a new contract

10 Players Who May Retire And Disappear From Madden 21

Every year in the NFL, there are a couple of standout players that finally decide to call it a career and retire. Most of the time you can see it coming from a mile away, while, other times, the announcements come out of nowhere.

RELATED: Madden: Ranking Every 2019 NFL Playoff Team

Retired players show up in Madden via the Ultimate Team mode but disappear entirely from anything outside of that. Let's now look at 10 players who may retire in 2020 and disappear from Madden NFL 21, set to release in the Fall of 2020.

10/10 Drew Brees

One of the first NFL players that comes to mind when you think about retirement is Drew Brees. The 41-year-old New Orleans Saint is coming off of three straight seasons in which his team's playoff run ended in either a controversial or disappointing fashion.

It can be tough for players to bounce back from stuff like that, especially as they age and their body and skills start to regress. Brees is unlikely to retire just yet, as he has a stellar roster around him and a one of a kind relationship with his coach, but it says something that he's taken it this long to make an announcement either way.

9/10 Jason Witten

Jason Witten is a unique case, as the veteran tight end has already gone through the retirement process once before. Unlike many others, Jason Witten didn't only come back to the NFL a year after officially retiring, he was able to play for the same team he retired from in the Dallas Cowboys.

With a recent coaching change, it's unclear if Witten sticks around or if they decide to move on from his services. With Witten specifically, it's also unclear whether he'd be open for playing with another organization or the idea of being a Dallas Cowboy for life means more.

8/10 Jason Peters

Jason Peters is still one of the best left tackles in all of football, and, at the same time, it may be looking like he could hang up the cleats this offseason. Peters recently turned 38 years old, which means he's already beaten the odds when it comes to a career length for an offensive lineman.

In the last couple of years, he's had to deal with nagging injuries that have seemed to grow in severity and it's limited his availability. He'll be a free agent entering the 2020 NFL offseason, and it's unclear what type of market he'll have for himself, or if he even wants to continue playing.

7/10 Greg Olsen

When Carolina Panthers fans heard that the team and Greg Olsen decided to mutually part ways, it left them confused. They assumed that he might retire this offseason, but never did it seem like he'd play for another team. Retirement is still very much an outcome that could present itself for Olsen if the right situation doesn't present itself, but he wanted to have options. With the recent retirement of a tight end—which we'll talk about later—Olsen might have a chance to reunite with his former head coach, Ron Rivera in the nation's capital.

6/10 Terrell Suggs

As of February 3rd, 2020, Terrell Suggs is now the owner of two Super Bowl rings. Many people forget that he was claimed off of waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs in late 2019 after getting cut by the Arizona Cardinals and has played a crucial part on the roster. He didn't play much, but his playoff experience and knowledge of the game no doubt helped Chris Jones, Frank Clark, and the rest of that Chiefs front. Suggs got to see Ray Lewis win a Super Bowl and retire into the sunset back in 2013, and, with him now finishing his 17th season, he might want to do the same.

RELATED: Madden 21: 10 Defensive Players Who Earned A Rating Boost

5/10 Thomas Davis

Who would have thought that a year after the Carolina Panthers decided to move on from Walter Payton Man of the Year winner, and lifelong Panther great Thomas Davis, that his running mate Luke Kuechly would retire at the ripe age of 28?

In hindsight, the Panthers probably would have liked to keep Davis as they transitioned to finding a new face of the defense, but that's life sometimes. Davis had his best season since 2016 this year, but, at age 37 on a team likely getting a young quarterback, will he want to believe in the process?

4/10 Danny Amendola

The two-time Super Bowl-winning receiver, Danny Amendola, just finished a one-year run with the Detroit Lions that has now left him as a free agent entering the NFL's 2020 offseason. Coming out of Texas Tech, it was unclear if Amendola would make a roster after going undrafted, but, 11 years later, he has racked up over 500 receptions and 5,000 yards in the NFL. The Detroit Lions have stated they love his veteran leadership and experience, so, if he doesn't decide to retire, don't be surprised if he signs back with the Lions on another one-year deal.

3/10 Vernon Davis

Vernon Davis is the first of three cheats on this list as the once feared speedy tight end has finally decided to retire from the game. Davis was most known for his days in San Francisco where he showed what having 4.2 speed at the y-position can do for a team. He was a monster for many years and even happened to contribute to the Washington Redskins for several years. There's no doubt that he'll be entering the Hall of Fame, as he not only produced at his position but evolved it in ways we're still seeing to this day.

RELATED: Madden: 10 Players Likely To Land In The 99 Club In Madden 21

2/10 Luke Kuechly

This may be the second cheat on this list, but, boy, was it a shocker to the entire NFL world when Luke Kuechly announced his retirement in early 2020. For most people, it came out of nowhere, but, when we heard Kuechly speak about his decision, it seemed like this was a medical-related situation that forced him to retire.

Fans will likely see his face and hear his voice in the years to come, as it's unlikely a football mind like his doesn't enter the coaching ranks in some capacity. Look for him to get a pretty sweet legendary card in next year's game.

1/10 Eli Manning

The last of the three cheats for this list is the Big Apple man himself, Eli Manning. His career in and of itself is very polarizing, as fans can't decide whether he deserves to enter the Hall of Fame. Outside of beating the New England Patriots for each of his two Super Bowl rings, Manning's career was pretty average. He finished with a perfect .500 career record, and his touchdown to interception ratio is less than favorable. For two postseasons, though, he came in clutch and played on a level no one thought he was capable of, which happened to be in the most important games of his life.

EA Curse in action! Ronda Rousey sensationally lost. What you need to know about Ronda Rousey after his second knockout loss Sensation or logical final

The most popular mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey lost by knockout to her opponent, who is also her compatriot Holly Holm. It should be noted that Ronda, unfortunately for her fans, was stripped of her UFC bantamweight title.

The history of everything that happened.

On Sunday evening in the city of Melbourne, this competition took place, in which Rosie suffered a fatal defeat. About fifty-six thousand fans of this type of martial arts came to watch the fight. This is a record number of fans in such sports. Before his defeat, everyone considered Rosie the absolute favorite in battles. There were practically no people who would doubt that after the fight she would spread her arms in a victorious manner, thank the audience for their support and be able to defend her title once again. But everything happened, as we know, quite the opposite. By the way, Ronda defended her title for the seventh time. Based on the current duel, it is clearly seen that her rival Holly had slightly different plans regarding the course of the meeting. This athlete competes at this level for the tenth time since the distant 2011. Holly has never lost in her fighting practice. Yes, and Ronda also until that time, of course, had no defeats. But there's nothing to be done - what happened happened.

Rousey's opponent chooses a tactical defensive move at the very beginning of the match. She gives full initiative to the former owner of the title throughout the entire period of time and works the entire fight under the second number. Ronda, in fact, from the first minutes of the fight, is trying to send her opponent to the ground and suppress her willpower. But the contender for the belt fought the whole fight quite measuredly and calmly. More than once she responded with very tough tricks to the attacks of the leader. One of these counterattacks led Ronda Rousey to a severe lip cut, and in the second round to an early termination of the fight.

Quite unexpectedly for many spectators, Holm delivers a strong blow to the opponent in the face. Rosie turns her back to Holly for a moment, which makes her mistake. Holm, not at a loss, inflicts a huge blow to the neck and sends Ronda into a deep knockout. Immediately the winner rushes with terrible force to finish off the losing athlete. It should be noted that if the referee had not intervened, then Ronda could have received a very serious injury.

Loser Ronda Rousey after the match spent a hard night in a local hospital. She underwent a head tomography, but no serious defects were found during the examination.

At the end of the fight, Holly talked about all the moments of preparation before the fight. She noted that the training before the competition was simply excellent. The fans greeted her very well, which also influenced the internal preparation of the athlete for the fight. Holm trained in various stances and resorted to moves that she felt specifically helped her win the fight.
Rosie also made a small comment on social media. First of all, she thanked the fans for her support and noted that nothing bad happened to her health. She also stated that she would take a short rest and would definitely return to the ring with renewed vigor. According to her trainer, Rosie had to keep Holm at a certain distance. Also, it was impossible to let her deliver strong boxing blows.

At the end of the year, the promoters returned two legendary fighters to the ring and cage, rightfully taking their place in the unofficial MMA Hall of Fame. Mirko Filipovich marched in Japan , and in the US she tried to regain her belt, but the current champion smashed those dreams to smithereens.

Rizin 3: Moldavian in the semi-final

Nobuyuki Sakakibara continues to revive the traditions of Pride and at the end of the outgoing year he organized another Grand Prix, this time in open weight. For modern mixed martial arts, such an undertaking seems a bit wild, but if the Japanese public is willing to pay, then anything is possible. Traditionally, let's start with ours. Unlike last year's tournament, Vadim Nemkov was entered only as a reserve and faced Alison Vicente. At the very beginning of the fight, the Brazilian almost knocked the Russian onto the canvas with an accurate blow, but Vadim quickly got up and, during the counterattack, carried out a powerful series of blows from above, knocking out the opponent. Thus, Nemkov Jr. rehabilitated for the defeat from Jiří Prochazka and at the next tournament Rizin may again be included in the list of main participants.

As part of the Grand Prix itself, Russia in general and FedorTeam in particular were represented by Valentin Moldavsky, who went undefeated. In the battle against Theodoras Aukstuolis, the rival of the Russian Zimon Bayor looked more than decent and won in a dominant manner, however, when faced with the student of the Last Emperor, the Pole made a less vivid impression. In the first round, Moldavsky dominated both in the standing and on the ground, demonstrating good movement and timing, and at the beginning of the second, he almost got caught by the “kimura”, but managed to get out and bring the matter to victory by unanimous decision. In addition, the well-recovered Heath Herring gave a real fight, but still lost to Amir Aliakbari, the Estonian Baruto crushed Tsuyoshi Kosaka with a mass, and Mirko Filipovich unexpectedly quickly knocked out Mohammed Laval.

Rizin 4: The Lugansk policeman never got to the Croatian one

Valentin Moldavsky failed to extend his winning streak. In the semi-final fight, the Russian was faster and more accurate in the standing position, but the world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling from Iran chose to act in his usual environment and controlled Moldavsky on the ground for most of the first round. The Iranian did not derive any special dividends from this, but he certainly took the segment due to dominance. In the second round, the situation developed in approximately the same way, but it is worth highlighting a couple of points.

First, Valentin instinctively grabbed the ropes several times to avoid falling. Secondly, Aliakbari struck a forbidden elbow strike in the stalls, about which the referee in the ring specifically signaled to the side judges. When, at the end of the fight, Moldavsky managed to equalize the positions, taking into account a penalty point, the judges instead of the third round gave the victory to Aliakbari by a split decision. Most likely, this is due to the violations of the Russian, which, with the overall advantage of the Iranian, tipped the scales in his favor.

Mirko ends the year on a positive note, Amir Aliakbari is content with silver, and Valentin Moldavsky and Kaido Hevelson become bronze medalists of the tournament.

Thus, the graduate of the Lugansk University of Internal Affairs did not reach his colleague from Croatia, but he certainly provided himself with the opportunity to take a step forward. Moldavsky himself noted in an interview after the fight: “I’m used to always fighting better than my opponents, but here there was no advantage in the fight, after all, he is the world champion in classical wrestling in heavy weight. Therefore, the plan was to beat him on the waste, shift to the sides when he would advance, but I could not fully implement this plan.

The Croatian policeman, in turn, dealt with Baruto in 49 seconds, literally sticking his knee into the massive body of the Estonian wrestler. In the final, Filipovic did with Aliakbari what Moldavsky could not do at the previous stage, namely, he tested the strength of the Iranian jaw. Having missed a biting blow from the left, Aliakbari ended up on the canvas, quickly got up, but did not leave the subsequent blows and finishing moves. As a result, Mirko ends the year on a positive note, Amir Aliakbari is content with silver, and Valentin Moldavsky and Kaido Hevelson become bronze medalists of the tournament.

207: Hello Cody! Farewell, Rhonda?

In the second most important event of the evening, Dominic Cruz intended to give the challenger a notable beating and show exactly how experience beats youth. However, Cody Garbrandt, who grew up on Dominator fights, did not succumb to ageist tricks and already in the first round made it clear that he was 100% ready for all the champion's surprises.

Cody gave his trophy to Maddux Maple, a boy who kept his part of the promise by beating cancer.

Cruz began the fight with active movements around the cage, as if spinning the Barcelona "tikitaka", but he could not confuse the opponent: Garbrandt reacted in a timely manner to all the opponent's attacks and skillfully struck towards. Convinced that Cruz could not surprise with anything else, Garbrandt himself turned on the first number in the third and fourth rounds and issued a whole series of knockdowns, after which the fifth round of confrontation became a formality. It remains only to note that Cruz did not lose by accident, but in the class, while Garbrandt, being very sharp-tongued, not only answered for his words, but also presented a new high-quality champion in his own person, which will be difficult to take away the belt from. What's more, Cody gave his trophy to Maddux Maple, a boy who fulfilled his part of the promise by beating cancer. Garbrandt also kept his word, getting into and becoming a champion.

Pain, despair and helplessness - these words are hardly enough to describe the feelings regarding what is happening with Ronda Rousey and her legacy. Having missed the first blow, Rosie began to retreat, and after the second hit, she was completely lost. The Brazilian Lioness, smelling blood, continued to attack until the referee intervened to stop the outright beating of the mixed martial arts legend. Nunes won, but she won far from the Rhonda that recently crushed everyone in a row.

I'm not sure that it's worth discussing the topic of unhealed psychological trauma and continuing training with Edmond Tarverdyan. Whatever decision Rosie makes, for us she is still a strong fighter and an ordinary person who has the right to make mistakes and failures. As an optimistic note, let me remind you that one of Ronda's new sparring partners may be a professional boxer from Kazakhstan, Firuza Sharipova. Any changes are development, which means it’s too early to talk about the decline of the career of the most famous woman in MMA.

Also that evening, TJ Dillashaw defeated John Lineker by unanimous decision and will probably get another title shot, Dong Hyun Kim defeated Tarek Saffedin by split decision, and Neil Magny apparently retired Johnny Hendrix, who suffered his third defeat in a row.

The year 2016 is drawing to a close for MMA fighters and fans around the world. Happy New Year to you! Do sports and take care of yourself!

Ronda Rousey and coach

Crushing defeat of former UFC champion Ronda Rousey caused a wide resonance among martial arts experts. American sports journalist Matthias Predonzan believes that this is not just a loss, but a real blow to the MMA industry.

“I first heard about Ronda Rousey when she challenged Floyd Mayweather Jr. . I thought she was a man. Then I found out that she is an MMA fighter and a star, and only then did I get a little acquainted with this sport. I don't know much about MMA. I'm from boxing so I don't understand the complexity of martial arts and I don't like the way they box.

Then, quite by accident, I saw a fight between Rhonda and former boxer Holly Holm . This fight showed me one thing: Rhonda's limited experience.

At the very beginning of the fight, she encountered difficulties and completely lost control: she weakened her already not very strong defense and simply went to meet Holm's blows.

She was so surprised by everything that was happening that she could hardly breathe when she sat in the first break, and it was clear that the knockout was just a matter of time.

Everything is fair. Experience cannot be bought, it must be earned. She was good enough to win her first 12 fights relying on her aggressive style and judo experience when she fought on canvas, but apparently she just never faced a boxer as strong as Holly Holm. . Many months have passed, and today I accidentally saw the return of Rhonda. When I found out her opponent was beater Holly Holm champion Amanda Nunes , I was amazed. I told myself that in boxing this is impossible. How about warm-up fights?

Everyone knows the outcome of the battle. Rhonda was literally paralyzed with fear and tension. She didn't do anything: she didn't move, she didn't defend, she didn't clinch, she just opened herself up. With all due respect to the champion, I think even my aunt Rosina could beat Rhonda tonight. How could her managers make such a mistake?

She was an important person in MMA, but they just burned her. Aside from their safety and sporting heritage (and we know how little those words mean today), Ronda Rousey represented the majority of MMA. As well as direct and indirect economic interests.

She had a long career in judo, a less violent sport than MMA. She probably never knocked out anyone in training and left no cuts.

She didn't lose to Holly on points, she was knocked out. And it was simply impossible for her to recover from this all at once without gradually regaining her confidence.

Manny Pacquiao also lost by knockout to Juan Manuel Marquez (and even now you can see how this loss affected Manny's style), and he returned at a fairly high level. But Pacquiao has lost before, and he has serious boxing experience, and with all due respect to MMA, he is Manny Pacquiao .

Returning to Rhonda, even if she was able to refuse the fight against the team's demands, it does not change the situation. It would only show that she doesn't trust or listen to her coach and she has a bad manager.

She will never recover from this terrible mistake, which will cost MMA dearly. Maybe MMA is a product of our consumer sport that doesn't respect anything. Maybe it's just a very young sport. All I know is that today we saw a very sad sight, from all points of view.

As you know, Electronic Arts announced yesterday that Ronda Rousey will grace the cover of the UFC 2 mixed martial arts simulator.

And today it became that Rosie suffered her first defeat in her career and lost her title of champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the bantamweight division. She lost in Melbourne by knockout to compatriot Holly Holm, after which she was hospitalized, according to TMZ. It is not specified how serious the injuries of the athlete turned out to be.

28-year-old Rousey had 12 wins before this fight, including six in the UFC. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she won the bronze medal in judo in the weight category up to 70 kilograms. Rousey had her first fight in March 2011. Holm won 10 victories in 10 fights.

On August 1, Rousey defended her UFC title for the sixth time by defeating Brazil's Beth Correia in Rio de Janeiro.

By the way, this is not the first time that all sorts of troubles have occurred with the athletes who appeared on the covers of EA games. Boxing legend, undefeated Roy Jones lost immediately after the release of FN, Bernard Hopkins, who has not lost for 12 years, immediately lost after the release of FNR2, Oscar De La Hoya lost immediately after the release of FNR3. UFC - a series of drains by Gustavson and disqualification of Jones, UFC2 - a sensational defeat of Ronda.

It all started with the cover of Madden NFL games.

Of the 19 American football players spotted next to the EA logo, 17 were soon injured or ended their season early. This series of coincidences is called The Madden Curse ("Curse Madden"). Electronic Arts even wanted to make a movie based on the phenomenon.

Results of 2009. Including the best games

It's nice to sum up the results in a stagnant period of the economy. There were many good games, but only a few outstanding ones. It took us exactly 15 minutes to determine the leaders in the nominations. "The best shooter?" - “This one!”, “The best fighting game?” - “What other options?”, “Game of the year?” - “Yes, since October everything is already clear!”. It was a good year. But for one gaming platform, it was simply magical.

It's nice to take stock in a stagnant period of the economy, in the year of the release of another Call of Duty, when frightened publishers postponed the releases of their strong projects, fearing to be crushed by the Activision marketing machine.

No, of course, the Xbox 360, PC, Wii and portables had something to please their owners. There was no shortage of entertainment. However, if you want to get acquainted with the best games of the year in different genres, then you have one road - on PS3. The proof goes below.

The best shooter

What do we need from shooters? Oh, just a little. Advanced graphics, ferocious weapons, smart opponents. More smoke, fragments and blood. Less chatter and wandering through empty corridors. Load the machine gun and fly forward, deftly tearing heads with bullets and stabbing a knife between cowardly shoulder blades. Diversity? Only combat situations. Enemies? Causing hatred with their appearance alone. Scene? On some remote planet with poor atmospheric conditions, since our realities and the sun in the sky are already pretty boring. To be honest, in January 2009years we were confident in the power of F.E.A.R.2. The sequel was just supposed to fix the shortcomings of the first part: the locations are prettier, the change of scenery is faster, there was also a gatling robot, which is also very good. But Monolith didn't pull it off, it produced narrow corridor trash with muddy graphics and stupid toys instead of weapons. The bots did not become stupid at all, but they were accustomed to leaping through the windows and somersaulting behind cover, they simply had nowhere to turn around. In general, some kind of nonsense turned out. Then there was a lot of things: the prequel Call of Juares, the addition of Halo: ODST, the reincarnation of Wolfenstein. Not to mention the main blockbuster of 2009of the year - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which fully lived up to expectations - that is, it remained the same familiar shooting range for lemmings. You could only surprise with the quality of the production and the planetary scope, but this has little to do with the actual shooting process. Here is the project that surprised me, it was Killzone 2 from the partisan studio Guerilla, which had previously sculpted all sorts of nonsense mixed with platitudes, and suddenly gave out a dream game to the mountain (see the first paragraph of the section). Terminator-fascists with burning eyes. Furious planet Helgan with thunderclouds and dust storms. Amazing feeling of your own body and the weight of the weapon. Excellent models of punchers and incredibly natural animation of many deaths. And most importantly, we are not constrained by narrow walls, they allow us to freely maneuver in combat locations-arenas, trying to pull surprisingly smart opponents out into the open. And there is also advanced graphics with hundreds of lights and jumping shadows.

Best Multiplayer Shooter

In these difficult times, when everyone strives to simplify, it's nice to meet such a complex war machine as Killzone 2. Seven playable classes with completely different abilities. The ability to combine skills of different classes. Dynamically changing tasks on the battlefield. Thoughtful arenas with several floors. Guaranteed absence of fans to sit in dark corners and stealthily spank frags. Turrets, flying droids, mines, invisible camouflages, reviving the wounded and repairing vehicles - all the best ideas from popular multiplayer shooters were included here (with the exception of controlled vehicles, perhaps), provided with rating and role-playing stimulants, an advanced clan system with clan wars. Not all developers took into account from the very beginning, for some reason they tried to come up with an alternative to already existing solutions, but in the end, after a few patches and three additions, they calmed down and left us alone with the best multiplayer shooter of 2009year. You may have a natural question: why not Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? The most popular multiplayer game on the planet, the drug of millions of bang-bang lovers with a huge number of weapons, perks, modes and challenges. That's right, we ourselves are not without sin, we love to run around the cards, pouring lead bullets on enemies with two hands in the hope of getting a new beautiful status icon. But this is still the same Call of Duty, only completely lost touch with common sense and balance due to the crazy role-playing system, so to speak. over the original. The developers obviously read GAMETECH and listen carefully to our comments: they added bosses, automatic weapons, a machete, a chainsaw, finally. But all this had to be done at once. And now the novelty effect is gone, leaving us with the well-known process of confrontation between Survivors and Infected.

Best Co-op Shooter

Co-op play has become a trendy feature these days. Of course, destroying crowds of monsters together with a living person is much more fun than alone. A similar approach has received an excellent implementation in Army of Two. Oriental developers also decided to keep up with the progress and rolled out Resident Evil 5. Chris Redfield and his pretty partner Sheva had to become a full-fledged combat unit in order to break through to the final credits. The game required not just the ability to quickly shoot the limbs of zombies and tongued monsters, but to work in a team with a partner. Each player had to correctly distribute weapons in the inventory, use all the skills at their disposal, cover their backs and help a friend, otherwise it was impossible to survive. In addition to close cooperative interaction, a stunning staging of story and game videos (Capcom!), Stylish art design, quick change of environment and game situations were included.

Best Racing Game

She rose from the ashes like a phoenix. She shook off the ashes of past mistakes and senile insanity, spread her wings and proudly declared herself: “Azm is Need for Speed: Shift!” . Cutting-edge graphics, dynamic environments, changing time of day, superb physics, and strong multiplayer with an unexpectedly exciting Duel mode. A long and versatile career has drawn competition for first place with friends. I didn’t want to get out of the cars to look around the outside camera - the view from the cab was so cool. And the speed was felt by some irreconcilable element, seeking to shake the unfortunate pilot out of his seat. A serious, thoughtful project. Unexpected. It was hard to think that Electronic Arts would decide on such an experiment, which will definitely not be favorably received by the audience of the arcade Need for Speed.

Best Platform Game

Of course, the most logical thing to do would be to bow our heads in mute reverence for the insolence of Nintendo (New Super Mario Bros. Wii), which manages to sell the same game with minor modifications for… When did the first plumbing adventure see the light of day? Crazy sales seem to confirm that the product is in demand, but the Wii audience is increasingly reminiscent of Mario's own idol, who indiscriminately bursts only familiar fly agaric mushrooms and cautiously jumps away from other objects. There is a mustachioed man on the cover - you have to take it. No - run away, save yourself! Disgusting sales of great games from independent studios confirm this sad rule. But the guys from the Insomniac studio belong to a different group of comrades, trying to offer us new challenges and indulge in fresh sensations. The final adventure saga of Ratchet and Clank is filled with completely different rides. This is for you and a crazy weapon shooter with upgrades and pumping. This is also a space arcade where a small spaceship rushes through the systems, fights with pirates, smashes asteroids and performs numerous tasks. This and a huge number of often very unexpected puzzles that break the usual laws of logic. Secrets, hiding places, battle arenas, there is even an arcade machine with a dumb but gambling game! But the core mechanics of the game remained unchanged - it's a platformer with a huge number of dizzying jumps and trampolines, with high speeds (thanks to jet boots) and sliding along twisted rails. Very beautiful. Very stylish. Very funny.

Best RPG

2009 hasn't been a good year for RPGs. Four projects really shined for us: Tales of Vesperia, Demon's Souls, Risen and our heroine. Vesperia is gorgeous, varied and traditional. Any fan of the Japanese approach and especially the Tales of... series will call it the best. Gothic fans will love Risen, everyone else will see it as an ordinary, good role-playing game with a short duration and with strange German graphics. Hardcore players pray to the labyrinths of Demon's Souls, but their fate is high, and, alas, they are alone. Perhaps the only game that many have received favorably, and some have already put on a pedestal, is Dragon Age: Origins. The game has a lot of advantages, enough shortcomings, instead of the "old school" we got a weighty interactive book with a lame balance and an underdeveloped combat system, but these troubles do not interfere with getting a lot of fun. Probably, we again became testers, and the second part will become a truly epic project. As practice shows, Bioware knows how to learn from its mistakes.

Best Online RPG

Online RPG for those who hate online RPGs. A unique concept, strikingly different from everything that the MMORPG market drowned in the Korean-Chinese swamp can offer. A project in which you may not even notice the multiplayer component, considering what is happening around you as part of the game design. We are talking about the opening of 2009, about the eerie knightly tale Demon’s Souls from the From Software studio. A world overrun by demons and a lone hero exploring dark labyrinths in search of treasure and obligatory bosses. He reads the graffiti on the walls left by thousands of people before him. He sees the ghosts of the dead. Touching the spreading pool of blood, he observes the last moments of the unfortunate. Magic stones open up amazing possibilities for him - to invade someone else's adventure and kill his master, or vice versa - to help him in battles. Silently - phantoms cannot speak. This is it, the best online role-playing game of 2009of the year.

Online Role Playing Game of the Year: Demon's Souls (PS3)

Best Fighting Game

"Best Fighting Game on Planet Earth" , - we modestly call this game. With perfectly tuned mechanics, wild speeds, a bunch of really different fighters and stunning fight visualization. Not everyone will like it - the entry threshold is too high, there are too many nuances, the tests from the special set are too severe, not every human being can pass at least half of them. But those who find the strength to take those very first few steps and get comfortable with the finger-twisting controls will find themselves in the world of Street Fighter with the smell of fresh sweat, screams of angry fighters and inhumane ultra-techniques, in a few moments turning funny hypertrophied figures into fried, beaten and flesh shredded by Vega's blades. And let's not forget about the wonderful multiplayer with excellent network code, a horde of people who want to fight and intense championships.

Fighting Game of the Year: Street Fighter IV (PC, Xbox 360, PS3)

Best Action Adventure

One can talk about the game that set a new quality bar in game development. About the amazing integration of story clips into the gameplay, when one does not interfere with the other at all, does not turn the journey into an interactive film and, moreover, into a staged theater with our minimal participation in the events. About flexible game mechanics, where the hero is not limited in means and goals, he knows how to deftly climb walls, beat off the faces of mercenaries with his fists, quietly make his way into the shadows and cut down relaxed figures with sharp attacks. There is no need to remember about shooting - to pick up a canister of fuel, throw it into a crowd of enemies and shoot it down with a bullet on the fly, arranging a colorful fireworks display with flying carcasses - a trifling matter. Something is constantly happening around, forcing either to get out from under the tracks of a tank that rammed the wall, or to jump out of the window of a collapsing skyscraper into the building opposite. There are, of course, mysteries and mysteries, an excellent script in the style of the Indiana Jones trilogy, and a collection of lively and witty characters.

Action Adventure of the Year: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)

Best Music Game

When we saw the announcement and the first videos of The Beatles: Rock Band, we realized what a huge mistake the developers made a few years ago. The first part of Rock Band was supposed to be just that. With the name of one of the brightest bands on the cover. Ahead. Before its own name, which only describes the process, but not the idea of the game. Guitar Hero had such an idea - become the king of the hall, conquer the impenetrable audience with guitar riffs and powerful chords. Be a Hero, the devil take you! Rock Band sounded toothless and unattractive, almost like a vocal-instrumental ensemble. Where is the challenge? Where is the desire? Where is the passion? Did not have. The Beatles became such a spark that ignited thousands of fires. The creative legacy and life history of giants, idols and colossi are presented to the players in the most chic version that one could imagine. The best songs of all times and peoples (unfortunately, without John Lennon's Imagine and other solo projects), the design of characters and scenes in authentic colors and scenery, the romance of the youth rebellion of the 60s - how can you not let The Beatles into your heart ?! So millions of music lovers exploded with delight.

Music Game of the Year: The Beatles: Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3)

Best Logic Game

We've seen a lot of games. We saw a mixture of genres, very successful clones, rare and terribly unfriendly crafts by little-known authors, terribly expensive failed projects ... In general, you will not surprise us. We were given X types of weapons, released from the bowels of the gaming hell Y enemies, and we Z hours, occasionally yawning, went through the game, using the modest opportunities available to us. And here comes a completely ordinary puzzle platformer, with inconvenient controls, a completely absent plot and an incentive to pass, but with a colossal abundance of opportunities. We begin to remember school physics lessons, popular action movies, but just common sense. Water regularly freezes, food is prepared, individuals from different social and mythological groups react sharply to each other and awaken a long-forgotten interest in experiments. The main thing is to immediately understand that Scribblenauts is not a game for passing, but for getting pure delight from your own imagination and ingenuity. And then those 50 thousand concepts that the authors put into the game will turn for you into thousands of ways to dispel boredom and stir up the mind that was asleep.

Best strategy game

In the absence of worthy competitors, Empire: Total War became the main and main player in the arena, where they demonstrated not muscles, but intellectual abilities: to understand cause and effect connections, analyze the current situation, plan all steps for many years ahead, make decisions and anticipate a sudden change in the situation. The 18th century - the century of the last romantics, great discoveries and great rulers is presented spectacularly and fascinatingly. Total War broke out of the tactical simulator, and became quite a serious global strategy. It even turned out to be a curiosity. Domestic politics with taxes, the struggle for the popularity of the government, the development of regions and trade, the formation of scientific schools bypassed the main feature of the project - large-scale battles - in terms of fascination and sophistication. This part and basis of the beloved series suddenly turned into a beautiful illustration of the era. Where the unbending squares of the line infantry died in powder smoke, and the ships went to the bottom with proudly flying flags.

Best Sports Game

Oh, right here, dear readers, you can think of anything you want. From year to year, sports game developers roll out new representatives of the series, in the name of which there are such tempting abbreviations as FIFA, NBA and NHL. Fans are quite buying up this business and already at home, lounging in a comfortable chair, they are trying to secure a victory dear to the heart of the club or lead a figured tennis player to victory in an international tournament. We sincerely understand fans of football, hockey and even biathlon, and if they read us, they can safely skip the rest of the paragraph and move on to the next section, since everything is decided by their own preferences here. We like boxing here, so the name of the winner is not too difficult to guess. The developers of Fight Night Round 4 have taken a significant step forward compared to the third part. The physiology of the human body is finally taking part in the gameplay, the hands of the fighters do not fall into each other, the impact force is calculated from many completely different factors, which is why the same attack under different circumstances has a completely different effect on the opponent's body. The speed has increased, the animation has improved significantly, elastic skin has been pulled over the muscles, which is rumpled under the glove. Boxer models are so good that sometimes the feeling of “playing” disappears - like watching a TV broadcast in real time. And the boredom of a career mode with sadistic mini-games in between battles is well compensated by the developed online championships.

Sports Game of the Year: Fight Night Round 4 (Xbox 360, PS3)

Best Expansion Pack 2010, PC and PS3 owners will also get to know them). The disc edition of GTA: Episodes From Liberty City, which included the chapters of The Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony, rightfully deserved the title of "addition of the year". Let the story of biker Johnny Klebitz turned out to be loosely connected and filled up with the same type of tasks, but there were wonderful multiplayer modes. And quite another thing - "The Ballad of the Gay Tony." The developers have finally offered amazing, completely crazy missions. And hilarious characters, corporate (in some places frankly vulgar, but it's GTA) humor have become a real gift for longtime fans of the franchise.

Addition of the year: Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City (Xbox 360)

A pleasant surprise

The idea to make Diablo in the first person was in the air for a long time, but the developers were in no hurry to abandon the classic isometry. An attempt by Bill Roper and other creators of the legendary "mouse killer" to give the appleoid a look from the eyes ended in failure. It is not surprising that the Gearbox studio project was extremely skeptical. The team that turned the wonderful tactical shooter Brothers in Arms into an arcade shooting game with bullets flying in an arc did not inspire confidence. Especially in such a difficult genre. But Randy Pitchford and company have proven it's too early to retire them. And they built a new generation Diablo. Basillion guns, which differ not only in characteristics, but also in appearance. Smashing bandit skulls, shooting at fanged creatures and other inhabitants of Pandora is a pleasure. Huge and versatile world, despite the idea of a junkyard planet. Hundreds of small tasks, dozens of dungeons with bosses, amazing graphic style and the possibility of a fun cooperative passage. The plot somewhat spoils the impression, but to whom did he surrender in a game of such a plan? ...

Surprise of the Year: Borderlands (PC, Xbox 360, PS3)

The most unusual game mechanics

Any type of weapon, a rare spell, a terribly powerful ancient artifact should be hard to get. This is what life teaches us, and we absorbed it together with the warmth of the gamepad in our hands. Not everyone will decide to take and completely destroy the foundations. Open a notebook, write a word, and here you are - the desired object at our feet. Everything depends on your knowledge of English and the ability to think outside the box. Get a kitten from an apple tree? We perform the ritual of calling Cthulhu, we sit on it, fly over the kitten, and he, half-dead from horror, jumps into the arms of the hostess. Guide a sheep through a forest full of predators? We reduce it with a beam to the size of a flea, put it in a basket, cut in a rocket pack and land at the target. Vampires turn to dust in the light of day, atheists torture believers, zombies follow you in a submissive crowd if you have an organ appetizing for them in your hands. The first days you go full of ideas, your mind boils, but, unfortunately, quickly cools down. Not all combinations work the way you intended. And now the passage is forgotten, and you, spitting on long-term habits, have fun on the title screen, and occasionally master your own levels. Great game. Let's wait for the second part.

Custom Game of the Year: Scribblenauts (Nintendo DS)

Best Screenplay

It's nice to have something more behind a game than just a big "Evil Is Out There" sign. Especially in role. Especially when the plot and the history of the world to a large extent contribute to the call of the liveliest interest in the splashes of blood flying from the monitor and thoughtful monologues about the correct swing of a two-handed hammer. Of course, the work of John R.r. Tolkien is carried for a good mile, but this world is much tougher, noble knights and wise elves died out five hundred years ago, and analogies with serious historical mistakes of the population of the planet Earth are visible even to elementary school students and traffic police officers.
