This is how I disabled the TPMS on my 2009 Rav4. Special thanks to CTScott from YarisWorld:
DIY - Bypassing Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS / TPMS) - Page 3 - Toyota Yaris Forums - Ultimate Yaris Enthusiast Site
Its about a 15 minute job without a switch, 20 minute job with a switch.
Tools required:
- Wire cutter
- Electrical tape (or tap wire connectors)
- 16+ gauge wire (optional)
- Bipolar switch (optional)
The TPMS is located behind the passenger glove compartment. You dont have to remove the glove compartment. There is a black panel that easily comes off below the glove compartment. (Directly above the floor mat). Two clips hold it in place. Just press and pull, no tools necessary. Remove the panel and you will see the TPMS device directly above it:
This is what it looked like on my vehicle:
Here is what the connector looked like:
Cut the pink wire from pin #5 and connect the end coming from the vehicle to the red wire in pin #6. Note that the pink wire coming out of the TPMS device is left unconnected.
If using a switch, install switch as diagramed below:
If you want to test the voltage readings here is what I was getting:
Red Wire 6+ volts
Pink Wire 4-8 volts - when TPMS sensors is active on the vehicle
Pink Wire 0 volts - when TPMS sensors are removed from the vehicle
ECU will illuminate the TPMS dashboard light when the Pink Wire reads 0 Volts.
TPMS light illuminated on my dashboard:
TPMS light off 15 minutes later after running this procedure:
Section below is OPTIONAL
Some of the Yaris members took this step a bit further and made the connection within the TPMS device itself (no wire cutting but soldering required).
Another Yaris member made a fancy switch like this:
Just remember to connect the Pink wire to the Red wire!

On a modern toyota, the pressure sensors reset automatically.
If the air is filled to the proper levels, drive the car a few miles above 25mph, and the sensors will detect and update the psi on the tires.
Make sure the psi is set to or above the label on the door.
...and yes, one of the few last vehicles on earth with a spare tire -- that needs to be checked as well.

I have read on other sites where inflating your tires to 45 psi and then deflating them to the correct level will tell the pressure sensor to re-calibrate.

You’re going to hate this. Did you check the spare tire attached to the back end of the vehicle? That tire has a pressure gage too!

Toyota Rav 4 - Video Lesson Model: Toyota Rav 4 MK 5, Xa50 - Years 2019-2022 If, when you turn on the ignition of your car, the tire pressure warning lamp lights up and continues to burn, this means that the control unit has detected a decrease in the same pressure in at least one of the tires through the appropriate sensors. Therefore, check the condition and pressure in the tires using a pressure gauge. Inflate tires that are below the recommended pressure (there is a chart on the front door pillar on the driver's side). Once this is done, return to the car, turn off the ignition and turn it back on: the warning light will disappear. Published 1 November 2021 by ScegliAuto | How to replace the rear wheel bearing Peugeot 407How to intervene in the removal of the rear wheel bearing with all relevant parts on the Peugeot 407? We put the car on a column lift, loosen the pins with a telescopic wrench and raise it to a convenient height for intervention. We unscrew the pins and remove the rim, then we begin to unscrew the pins of the brake caliper by disconnecting it from the caliper, loosen the caliper pin with a socket wrench. Now remove the caliper support and unscrew the pins placed on the disc brake, pull the disc towards you with your hands to remove it from the wheel hub. We completely disassemble the wheel hub from the car lever and remove the worn bearing. We mount a new bearing with press equipment. Before putting everything back together, remove all dirt from the disassembled parts with small brushes and lubricate the parts. We mount the brake disc with all the attached pins. The original Toyota Rav 4 tire pressure sensor is produced by the Japanese company Pacific. Also a high-quality, but non-original sensor from Shnaider (England).
Content
The original Pacific has a catalog number 42607-30071 with a 1 year warranty.
The Shnaider analogue, according to experts, is not inferior to it in quality. Has a two year warranty.
The device is a simple nipple with a housing screwed to it, which contains the antenna, battery and board.
It consists of the following components:
The assemblies are mounted on discs. The operation of the devices is to perceive pressure, convert its value into information, and transfer the latter to the control unit using radio waves.
Devices are inserted into the hole for the nipple, with the valve outward, and the electrical part remains inside the tire.
To install sensors in tires on Rav 4, you need to dismantle the wheel and remove the tire. Then a regular nipple is removed from the disk, and a more advanced meter is installed in its place. Next, the wheel is assembled, inflated, balanced, and mounted in place.
When installing new devices, it is necessary to register their identification codes in the on-board computer and carry out initialization. To register codes, you need to contact an authorized dealer or a reliable car repair shop.
You can carry out the procedure yourself. It will also be needed when installing tires of a new size.
With the ignition on, you must hold down the "SET" button under the steering wheel until the lamp flashes three times.
Resetting to zero is similar to the initialization process. There are other recommendations:
To deactivate the system, you can contact your authorized dealer or another professional. Carrying out such work with your own hands requires a certain qualification.
