As a student and an intern, I had to move a lot. While I found moving to be refreshing, a consistent feeling of safety is a must if you change your neighborhoods quite often.
I have had to move three apartments in the past two years, and everything usually goes smoothly until I start to take down my Ring Doorbell. It was pretty tedious at first, but then I got used to it. Even then, I was spending time and effort that I should have spent elsewhere.
Since I had to go through the same thing multiple times, I have researched and tried numerous ways not just to uninstall the device easily but also to mount it later.
To remove the ring doorbell without a tool, try to remove it by gently shaking it using an object with a dull edge. If you want to be able to remove the Ring doorbell without a tool regularly, use a no-drill mount, double-sided tape, or even velcro strips.
If you have mounted this device using one of these, the unmounting process though simple, can be a tad bit tricky. Whether you have used tape or Velcro strips, it’s best not to grab the device and pull.
When removing the ring device, use a dull-edged object as a lever while gently pulling the device off the wall. This step, if not done right, can end up damaging your device or dirty the wall
If you have mounted using the conventional method, the removal process involves removing the safety screw using the screwdriver that comes with the device and then gently tugging the device off the wall.
If you have lost the original Ring screwdriver, you can always order a replacement screwdriver by contacting Ring customer care.
The Ring screwdriver is a Mini Torx, so it is pretty easy to find online or in any hardware store near you if you ever feel that getting the screwdriver through customer care is too slow.
To remove the Ring doorbell in a jiffy, you can try mounting it using unconventional yet creative methods. Having moved around quite a bit, here are some ways that I have tried, tested, and now recommend.
These ways involve using Velcro, double-sided tape, or other easy-to-use tools that let you safely and quickly mount or remove the device.
I tried double-sided tape first while trying to mount the Ring doorbell. It’s a pretty simple process that anyone who has ever been in an art class can do.
Remove the covering on one side of the piece of tape and fix it to the back of the doorbell. Once it is in position, take off the cover on the other side of the tape.
Fix the doorbell to the wall, and you are all done. Make sure the tape you are using is strong to reduce the risk of it falling off. Be careful while removing it, though, and not let it damage the wall it was attached t
The No-drill Ring mount is an excellent alternative for people who don’t want to put adhesive directly on the Ring device. I got one of these for my second move, and it had served well while I was staying there.
I was inclined to get this because the tape had left a less than ideal mark on the doorbell, probably due to the weather it was exposed to.
The No-Drill Ring Mount is a drill-less design, but you still need a screwdriver. It has one side that has an adhesive-based mount that faces the wall, and the other side facilitates mounting of the ring device using its standard safety screws.
If you are concerned about the wear on your doorbell, like I was, you can try to use Velcro strips to mount the Ring doorbell to the wall. Just attach one side of the Velcro strips’ pair to the wall and the other to the back of the Ring device.
This is a neat and convenient way to mount it and makes sure you don’t damage any surfaces.
The only downside to using Velcro pads is that you will have to either leave behind one side of the velcro strips or try to peel them off when you are moving.
The Ring Doorbell is a handy security addition to your home. The fact that it can be battery-powered and hardwired makes it very versatile power-wise.
Regardless of whether or not you move around, when the Ring device is on battery, it usually lasts about 6-12 months. To replace the batteries, you will have to unmount the device.
The conventional process of unmounting can be rather tedious, and hence trying some of the above-listed methods might prove to be a real-time and effort saver in the long run.
Mounting like this provides better access to the device for cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance as well.
Ring doorbell needs a ‘Tamper Proof T15′ screwdriver, also called a ‘Tamper-proof Torx’ and ‘Tamper-proof Star’ drive, to remove it. It can easily be identified by its hole at the end of the tip, where the screw head fits.
There are multiple ways to unscrew a Torx screw, the most simple being using a Torx screwdriver, in case you don’t have a screwdriver you can try using a butter knife or a coin. You can also try it with pliers as well.
The Ring Doorbell 1, 2, 3, and 4 come with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The Doorbell Pro and the Ring Elite are hardwired, though.

Wrench is a tool for connecting (disconnecting) a threaded connection by tightening (untwisting) bolts, nuts and other parts. Keys are divided into two groups: enclosing and covered. The size of the throat (hole) is standardized and measured in millimeters (metric) or fractions of an inch (inch). The phrase "key 14" means that the size of the throat is 14 millimeters.
KGO - One-sided open end wrenches
KGKM - Wrenches with an open end, one-sided colic assembly
Combination wrenches are universal wrenches that combine the functionality and advantages of open-end and box wrenches. The jaws of the combination wrenches have the same dimensions. It is the combination of the strengths of open-end and box wrenches and the leveling of the weak sides that make the combined wrenches extremely widely demanded by consumers and used in a variety of fields - manufacturing,
repair, auto repair, household and others.
Wrenches with open and ring mouths are designed for mounting or dismounting of threaded connections.
Double-sided cranked ring wrenches (KGN), better known to consumers as box or simply ring wrenches, are wrenches that have a rounded shape of the working part, which allows them to cover the fastening connection from all sides when unscrewing or tightening. Thus, spanner wrenches are indispensable when working with tight fasteners, due to their shape they make it possible to exert more effort than when working with open-end wrenches that have only two faces of contact with a nut or bolt, which determines the popularity and demand for ring wrenches on the market.
Wrenches ring impact wrenches (KGKU), or simply impact wrenches - a type of cap (ring) wrenches, one of the working surfaces of which is designed for impact in order to increase effort when working with tight fasteners in cases where the use of a long lever or other methods undesirable or impossible. The handle of such wrenches withstands impact without vibration, bending and destruction. This makes such keys widely applicable and in demand, including for industrial use.
The spline wrench is the only tool for working with spline nuts. The fact is that a round slotted nut does not have edges, like a regular hex nut. Instead, on the outer surface there are special grooves or slots in which the key is fixed. Spline fasteners are most often used to hold rotating elements on various shafts of mechanical equipment units and assemblies, incl. and for fastening bearings in automobiles.
An adjustable wrench is a universal tool that is exclusively widely used both in everyday life and in the professional field - workshops, maintenance and repair organizations, business units of industrial enterprises. The main difference between an adjustable wrench and a conventional open-end wrench is the mobility of its jaws, thanks to which you can easily change the size between the clamps by tightening the nut on the tool body. Due to this advantage, the adjustable wrench is able to replace a significant part of the line of conventional open-end wrenches, which, on the one hand, allows the consumer to save a lot, and on the other hand, provides him with greater convenience when transporting (carrying) and storing the tool.
Adjustable wrenches are used for screwing and unscrewing nuts and other threaded connections, including valves.
