1 reviewDuring mounting and dismounting of tires, special attention should be paid to the following points, which in many cases determine the success of mounting and dismounting operations:
— correct mutual orientation of wheel and tire parts at all stages of the process;
- use of the mounting groove of the rim to accommodate the corresponding section of the tire bead;
- correct (in accordance with the instructions) use of the installation tool, which ensures maximum gain in strength and prevents damage to the tire beads.
An analysis of the processes of mounting and dismounting tires with rims of various design schemes (non-separable, with a mounting rail and collapsible, multi-component) shows that these processes have common features that should be specially noted.
It is known from practice that the most complicated and time-consuming process for service personnel is the removal (shift) of the tire beads from the rim landing shelves (for non-separable rims), the removal of the rim from the tire (dismantling) and their preliminary assembly (assembly). The complexity of the shift operation is due to the already mentioned phenomenon of "sticking" of the tire to the rim, as well as a high degree of deformation of its elements when installed on a one-piece rim. The need to perform mounting-dismantling operations is determined in many cases by the type of rim (one-piece, split), its profile, as well as the scheme of operation of mounting machines, the design of a manual mounting tool.
It must be remembered that the compressed air in the tire cavity creates a constant internal force, which under certain conditions can lead to accidental destruction of the wheel. Most likely this can happen during the installation or dismantling of the tire. Therefore, when mounting or dismantling wheels, the following basic rules must be observed, the implementation of which will greatly increase safety and facilitate assembly and dismantling.
1) Mounting and dismounting work must be carried out only in accordance with the instructions for mounting and dismounting of this type of wheel, supplied with the machine.
2) Before mounting, it is necessary to check the completeness of the tire and wheel parts and assemble the wheel with a tire of the specified size only.
3) Do not use rims and other wheel parts that are out of shape (unacceptable deviation from the out-of-roundness of the bead wheel and rim, the "screw" of the lock ring, dents or curvature, etc.) or other defects - cracks, paint runs, the presence of rust in places in contact with the tire or other parts of the wheel. Particular attention should be paid to the groove of the lock ring, which must be cleaned of dirt and rust, and to the condition of the lock and bead rings. Rings that have a broken original shape or have the listed defects cannot be used for mounting, since spontaneous dismantling may occur during tire inflation or during operation.
4) Mounting and dismounting should be carried out on special stands designed for mounting or dismounting this type of wheels and tires, or with a manual mounting tool applied to the machine. Do not allow the formation of sharp edges, burrs, rust and dirt on the mounting blades or on the working bodies of the assembly and dismantling stands (machines).
5) When removing wheels from the hub to remove tires (in the event of a puncture, tread wear or for any other reason), special attention should be paid to discless wheels (especially twins), as well as wheels consisting of two forged halves, which have flanges , which serve to connect the halves of the rim, are at the same time disks. Before unscrewing the nuts securing the wheels to the hubs, it is necessary to completely bleed the air from the tires. When removing one of the dual wheels, the air must be released from both tires. It is strictly forbidden to dismantle tires that are not completely deflated.
6) When inflating a tire assembly with a wheel in garage conditions, it is necessary to use a special metal fence (mounting chamber) that can protect maintenance personnel from being hit by ejected removable wheel parts in case of spontaneous dismantling or rupture of the tire.
To ensure safety when inflating the tire, it is necessary to use self-locking clamps, with which the hose can be fixed to the valve, which makes it possible to inflate the tire while being at a sufficient distance from it.
Outside the garage, during this operation, the wheel must be installed in such a way that during spontaneous dismantling, removable parts cannot injure others.
Do not change the position of the bead or locking rings when the tire is under pressure.
When inflating split wheel tires with bolted connections, make sure that all nuts are tightened to the same torque recommended by the manual. Wheels that do not have at least one nut are not allowed to be used.
7) In the event of a loose fit of the tire beads on the rim flanges, it is necessary to release the air, remove the tire from the wheel and eliminate the causes that caused the loose fit. After that, you need to re-mount the tire on the wheel.
8) It is unacceptable to use heavy objects (sledgehammers, crowbars, etc.) during assembly and disassembly that can deform wheel parts.
