We patch and plug the puncture for a permanent repair that will outlast the tire

No one plans on having a flat tire. But when it happens, we'll be there. Zohr's Mobile Tire Service will repair your punctured tire on-site, so you'll never need to call a tow truck or visit a tire shop.

Punctured tires are not always repairable, so we'll also have a replacement tire with us just in case. No hassle or extra time needed to get you back on the road.

Run Flat tires

We do not fix run flat tires because they may be unsafe even after repair. Driving on a punctured run flat can damage the inside of the tire and cause a blowout. Since we can't determine the level of damage inside the tire, we have to replace run flats if they are punctured.

Whether you need a tire repair or tire replacement, shoot us a text and we'll be on-site when and where you need us.

When Do I Need a Tire Change?

Your tires are the only thing holding your car to the road. As the tread wears down, your tires begin to lose their grip in wet or slippery conditions. Worn out tires impact the handling performance and safety of your vehicle, so it's important to get your tires changed when they need it.

Repairable

We can repair a punctured tire if:

  • The puncture is in the center of the tire tread, not on the shoulder or sidewall
  • The tire's tread depth is over the recommended minimum height of 2/32 inch (1.6mm)
  • The puncture did not occur on another repair patch
  • The tire sidewall and shoulder are not damaged
  • There is no aging or deterioration of the tire
  • The tire is not a Run Flat
Unrepairable

We will replace the tire if the puncture is located in the outer tread block or sidewall of the tire, if it is too large for a standard sized plug or at an obscure angle.

Tire side cuts are not dangerous

Driving safety depends directly on the condition of the car wheels. Maneuverability, driving stability and comfort are associated with it. This element, which is in direct contact with the road surface, must be in perfect condition. Even minor damage and changes in pressure inside the chambers lead to serious imbalances, maneuverability and stability. This determines the importance of checking the condition of tires and their timely repair in case of damage. If a puncture is a fairly simple problem that a beginner with some skills and a special repair kit can handle, then a side cut is a much more serious problem.

The actual question is, how long can you drive on a flat tire?

With certain tire damages (microcracks, punctures, cuts, tread abrasion), the pressure inside the wheel decreases in different ways.

In the event of a puncture, there is often little time to get to the nearest car service, although it is preferable to call a mobile tire fitting team. 24-hour workshops are engaged in the rapid elimination of any problems on the road. It should be remembered that prolonged driving on a flat tire is a factor that reduces comfort and causes danger. This is especially true in turns, when the maneuverability of the vehicle is sharply reduced. Another problem that running on a flat tire will cause is the deformation of the disc and itself.

With a side cut, the danger increases even more. Such mechanical damage, in contrast to a puncture, leads to a break in the cord threads. Because of this, structural strength is lost. The best repairs will not restore its strength and integrity. Therefore, any tire repair can be taken as a temporary measure. The best solution is a replacement. This is especially true for high speed driving. With increasing load, any collision with a small obstacle, such as a curb, or a wheel falling into a hole, can cause a break.

Cut damage types

The following categories of damage are distinguished:

  1. Along the threads. Relatively easy option, recoverable.
  2. Across the cord. Dealing with such damage is complicated.
  3. Combined forms of injury. The cut affects both transverse and longitudinal threads. Such damage cannot be repaired.

Flat tire. What to do?

In case of any damage, it is necessary to stop immediately in order to properly assess the situation. Any damage to the tire is felt instantly due to the sudden release of pressure and the ensuing loss of maneuverability. Often the car immediately begins to skid onto the side of the road or the oncoming lane. In this case, it is important to immediately level off the traffic and stop in a safe place, away from the road, but on a smooth and firm surface, where you can lift the machine to change the wheel. Stopping, you need to make sure that the car is not rolling. To do this, stop it with the engine off and raise the handbrake. It is also important to turn on emergency lights and put up a warning triangle if the stop occurred directly on the roadway. According to the regulations, it must be installed 100 meters behind the vehicle on an expressway or highway and 50 meters on a road outside the settlement. In a densely built-up area, the sign is placed directly behind or on the vehicle. In addition, a reflective vest should be worn.

After that, you need to do the following:

  1. remove the jack and spare wheel from the boot;
  2. jack up the car and remove the damaged wheel;
  3. move this wheel under the threshold of the car for greater safety;
  4. fix the spare wheel in the correct way, carefully checking for any slack;
  5. put the jack and the damaged wheel in the trunk.

Having decided to repair a puncture or cut yourself, you need to prepare tools and materials:

  • Alcohol to degrease the surface.
  • Raw rubber.
  • Building hair dryer or iron.
  • Sandpaper.
  • Rubber patch (preferably reinforced to compensate for damaged cords).

Having prepared the necessary, you can begin to repair. It consists of the following actions:

  1. Remove the wheel and place it on a level surface.
  2. Sand the damaged area with sandpaper.
  3. Apply alcohol to the area to degrease it.
  4. Apply raw rubber to the cut and vulcanize with a blow dryer or iron.
  5. After curing, sand the repaired area again with sandpaper.
  6. Stick the patch on top of the damaged area.
  7. After completing the repair and checking the tire for leaks, perform balancing.

If you do not carry out this procedure, you can lose the wheel due to rapid wear. Operational balancing is done using the mobile tire fitting service. Specialists can make a correct assessment of the extent of damage and recommend means of repair or replacement of the product.

Tire damage that you can fix yourself

While driving a car, no one is immune from minor injuries. They form everywhere: paintwork, glass, wheels, suspension. But rubber is more susceptible to damage than other parts. The damage that a tire can receive is varied. You can also find enough culprits in this, but most often it turns out to be the driver. The good news is that many of the damage can be repaired. Some even on their own.

Puncture is the most common type of injury. It is also the most harmless, if you do not delay the repair. Running on a flat tire is the surest way to finish off a tire. Additional damage that the tire will receive is often incompatible with further operation. The sidewalls will be deformed much more than usual, as a result of which the tire will overheat and delaminate, and the carcass will become unusable. Not to mention that in this way you can easily ruin the disc by damaging its edge.

There are several types of punctures: when the power element of the tire (cord) is damaged and not. To determine this, it is necessary to remove a sharp object. If the hole closes after the removed object, then the tire must be repaired without dismantling. Otherwise, we are preparing to disassemble the wheel or replace it with a spare one. In extreme cases, such a puncture can be repaired temporarily and get to the nearest car service.

But back to the first type, you can repair it yourself. After detecting and determining the type, further repairs depend on the repair kit that you have. In fact, there are not so many options:

  • Pour the sealant through the nipple into the tire, then turn the wheel with the puncture down and let the sealant fill hermetically fill the hole from the puncture.
  • A tourniquet or an insert - such a repair is already somewhat more complicated, but an order of magnitude more reliable. It is necessary to grind the edges of the puncture, treat the tourniquet with a special compound, put it inside the tire, then not completely pull it out and cut it flush.
  • If you have diagnosed damage to the cord, then self-repair is much more difficult. And after it, balancing is required.

Damage such as cuts or breakdowns is practically unrepairable. They occur on the go, the tire loses pressure sharply, and on a completely flat tire, the car still travels some distance to a complete stop. As a result, the cord loses its integrity and power properties. Such a tire is not subject to further use.

Cracks - occur in most cases as a result of improper storage. Not subject to repair.

Hernias and swellings are the consequences of blows or collisions with sharp objects. Occur either when a cord breaks inside the tire, or as a result of a factory defect. The operation of a tire with such a defect is prohibited. Such damage cannot be repaired. Only replacement shown. In extreme cases, you can put the wheel on the rear axle and drive to your destination. A herniated tire should be replaced as soon as possible.

Damage to the sidewalls occurs most often from friction, for example against a curb or asphalt edge.
