Falken tires are some of the newest models on the market. The tire manufacturer has quickly established a customer base within the motorsports community, but is Falken worthwhile for the everyday driver?
In this review, we’ll discuss the provider in depth, including company history, industry ratings, most popular Falken tire models, costs, and more. Rather than focusing on one or two tire models, we’ll give you an overview of Falken – that way, you’re well informed before making a costly purchase.
We reviewed and ranked the best tires and brands in the industry, considering a variety of factors during our research. If you’d like to see what other high-quality tire models are available, we suggest reading the review. You can also start comparing several tire brands, Falken included, on TireRack.com.
One of the newest tire manufacturers in the industry, Falken was established in 1983. The Japanese company is a part of Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) and is based in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Falken was founded to specialize in high-performance tires. Though the company has expanded its tire variety, Falken is still best-known for its high-performance models.
Falken tires are a favorite among motorsports competitors and off-road enthusiasts. In recent years, Falken has participated in the ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race at Nürburgring, the VLN Endurance Championships, the Formula Drift Championship Series, and the Formula Regional Japanese Championship.
On a consumer level, Falken produces affordable high-performance models as well as a few highly rated all-terrain tires. Though the manufacturer makes a wide variety of products – including passenger, truck, SUV, and crossover tires – Falken has relatively few models within each larger tire category, which can limit choice.
Falken reports tire scores based on an evaluation system created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This system is called Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG), and it grades tires – except specialized tires – based on their treadwear, traction, and temperature resistance.
Here’s an explanation of the UTQG grading system:
Treadwear: This grade estimates the longevity of your tires. To calculate treadwear, tires are measured against a control tire given a rating of 100. If a tire has a 500 treadwear rating, that means it lasted five times longer than the control. Most passenger tires have between a 300 and 500 treadwear rating, according to data from SaferCar.gov.
Traction: This grade measures how well your tires “grip” a wet road. Traction grades are given on a scale of AA, A, B, or C. Good day-to-day passenger tires typically receive an A rating.
Temperature: This grade evaluates a tire’s heat resistance on a scale of A, B, or C. Tires need to withstand different temperatures based on their specialization. High-performance tires, for example, usually move at much higher speeds than an all-season tire, and in turn, have higher temperature ratings.
It’s important to note that the NHTSA does not oversee UTQG tests. Manufacturers and independent companies hired by brands are responsible for tire testing and reporting.
Below, we detail a few highly rated Falken tire models and their treadwear, traction, and temperature scores using data from SaferCar.gov.
Falken Tire Model | Tire Type | Treadwear Score | Traction Score | Temperature Resistance |
---|---|---|---|---|
Falken WildPeak A/T3W | Light truck All-terrain | 660 | A | B |
Falken WildPeak H/T HT01A | Crossover/SUV Touring All-season | 500 | B | B |
Falken Ziex STZ05 | Light truck/SUV All-season | 460 | A | A |
Falken Sincera SN250A A/S | Passenger Grand touring All-season | 320 | A | A |
If you want to know more about a tire you already own, you can check the tire’s sidewall for the UTQG grade.
Falken’s most popular tires are all-season performance and all-terrain models. Due to their durability and technological advancements, these Falken models are well-suited for their specialty. Falken performance tires are known for their low noise and good handling, while its all-terrain models drive well even in the toughest conditions.
Here are a few of Falken’s most popular tire models:
These tire models are highly regarded among customers and industry experts alike.
Falken is almost exclusively a replacement tire brand, but it has secured a few original equipment (OE) partnerships in recent years. It currently supplies tires to Jeep, Ram, Subaru, Porsche, and a few others.
Falken’s tread life warranties are longer than average. Though none of its models reach the 80,000 to 90,000-mile mark, most average between 55,000 and 70,000. We were especially impressed by some of the tread life warranties on its high-performance models, which typically wear quicker than other tires.
Falken tires are average in terms of cost. They’re not as expensive as some ultra high-performance tires (like Pirelli tires, for example), but they’re also not as affordable as Cooper tires or Nitto tires. Using cost data from Tire Rack, Falken tires cost between $150 and $240 on average.
Considering high-performance tires can cost $300 and above, Falken is a smart choice for drivers looking for a cheaper alternative. Several Falken performance tires also come with longer-lasting tread life warranties than most performance models. Looking at initial cost versus long-term value, Falken tires sit at an affordable price point and offer a long tread life.
Based on customer reviews and ratings across several tire retailer sites, Falken tires hold a 4.0-star rating on average. Industry experts are keen on the brand’s performance and all-terrain tires, which fare better in customer reviews as well.
Below, we’ve detailed Falken tires’ reviews on Tire Rack to give you a better sense of the brand’s strengths and weaknesses.
“For a daily driver, [Falken Azenis FK510] tires are a good bang for your buck. Would I track with them? Maybe. After 12,000 miles, I am at a 6/32nd tread depth. [With] road noise, I can’t really tell because I have a muffler … But I have no complaints. Dry handling is superb, wet handling is also better.”
– via Tire Rack
“[Falken Wildpeak A/T3W] tires are more aggressive than what they look to be in the picture. At high speeds, the noise level is little to none. [I] had to pull my buddy out of a hole one night – tires [did] their job and then some. So far, I would recommend this tire any day of the week.”
– via Tire Rack
“[The Falken Ziex CT50 A/S] is a very poor tire. Road noise was evident in the 20,000-mile range and has become progressively worse. Dealer confirmed the tires have become ‘feathered.’ This is with a solid history of rotations, alignments, balancing, and keeping the pressure at spec.”
– via Tire Rack
“Now after three autocross events, [the Falken Azenis RT660] are garbage. I have run multiple RE71R’s and rivals on this same car the last five years and never had issues like this. These were heat cycled the same way I have done on others when I didn’t pay the extra to have it done.”
– via Tire Rack
We rate Falken tires 3. 0 out of 5.0 stars. We like the tire manufacturer’s dedication to producing high-quality performance and all-terrain tires with exceptional durability, as well as its cheaper price point. However, Falken is best for drivers who know what they’re looking for, not those who need choice.
A new set of tires is often an expensive investment, so it’s best to find the right tire before you commit to a purchase. Falken tires are a good choice for many drivers, but we recommend looking at other reputable tire brands as well. Our top choices include Michelin tires and Cooper tires.
Michelin is our top choice for tires based on its industry standing, product variety, and high-quality tires. Across the board, the tire manufacturer produces some of the best, longest-lasting tires in the industry. Though Michelin tires are expensive, they’re well worth the investment.
Start comparing Michelin tires at TireRack. com.
If you’re looking for an affordable tire, Cooper tires are some of the best. Many of the brand’s models are between $75 and $100, making it a cheaper alternative to other big-name companies. Cooper has a wide tire variety but does all-season tires especially well.

Falken may not be one of the brands you’re very familiar with, but in recent years, they’ve made a push to be one of the top players in both performance and all-terrain tires here in the United States. Falken entered the U.S. market in 1985, and is now a respected brand in many areas, one of which is all-terrain tires for crossovers and SUVs.
SINCERA SN250 All-Season
Best for Passenger Cars

The Sincera SN250 All-Season is a great all-around all-season tire that would be competitive with something like the BF Goodrich Advantage T/A. The tire uses Falken’s proprietary Dynamic Range Technology (DRT) to ensure maximum grip in a wide range of operating temperatures, which allows for exceptional wet and dry traction. The tread block design also helps to reduce tire noise at higher speeds for a much quieter ride than earlier versions of this tire. The tire features an 80,000/75,000 limited tread life warranty, and comes in 63 sizes, covering about 90% of non-luxury sub-compact through full-size vehicles.

AZENIS FK510
Best Performance Tire

Falken has two flavors of AZENIS: the FK510 is the all-around, summer-only street performance tire and the RT660 is the peak performance track day tire. For our purposes, the FK510 is the one to think about. The AZENIS FK510 is perfect for premium vehicle owners looking for excellent grip and outstanding performance. Falken designers used 4D Nano Design to optimize high-performance compounds at the molecular level, providing both better wear and wet weather traction, things that are generally mutually exclusive. The FK510 features hybrid undertread materials, for confidence-inspiring handling and stability. The FK510 is available in sizes ranging from 17 to 22-inch.

WILDPEAK A/T3W
Best SUV Tire
See Prices
The WILDPEAK A/T3W is Falken’s competitor for the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A K02, and the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar. It’s engineered for adventure, and as a result it’s more aggressive and heavier duty than what may have come on your vehicle from the factory, though the WILDPEAK AT/3W is original equipment on vehicles like the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. The WILDPEAK A/T3W uses an optimized tread design combined with a silica tread compound so the tire excels in treadlife, winter conditions, and wet performance. Designed for severe snow conditions, every A/T3W tire is qualified by USTMA and TRAC for the Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake (3PMSF) symbol. The tire features Falken’s patented 3D Canyon Sipes and an all-new proprietary lower sidewall. Full-depth sipes and grooves maintain consistent performance and appearance throughout the life of the tire. Car Talk tested the WILDPEAK A/T3W fitted to a Ford Bronco Sport. We came away impressed with this tire’s performance in adverse weather. Our personal opinion is that the 3PMSF symbol should be on any tire fitted to any crossover or SUV targeted to such driving.

WILDPEAK M/T
Best Off-Road Tire

The WILDPEAK M/T is Falken’s answer to tires like the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM3 and the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R. This is the most rugged tire you’re going to find from Falken, and it’s really only for drivers looking for the ultimate off-road performance. The M/T’s three-ply DURASPEC™ Sidewall Technology was engineered to sustain the most punishing off-road conditions, where sharp rocks and obstacles can easily puncture a lesser tire. The M/T features two high ply turn-ups that provide an additional layer of protection and durability. The aggressive upper sidewall provides additional traction especially when aired down to low pressure on the most rugged terrain. Yet, the tire was also designed to provide surprisingly decent road manners thanks to an optimized variable three-pitch tread pattern.

WILDPEAK A/T
Best Crossover Tire
See Prices
The WILDPEAK A/T Trail is unique amongst its competitors. It’s the first all-terrain tire to be specifically designed for crossovers, so if you’re driving something like a Toyota RAV4 or a Subaru Outback and want something that splits the difference between a traditional all-terrain tire and something that just isn’t up to the task of off-highway driving, this one’s for you. The A/T TRAIL strikes the perfect balance between aggressive off-road traction and dependable all-weather performance. Durable 2-ply polyester construction and rugged upper sidewall features protect the A/T TRAIL from off-road terrain, while an optimized tread design helps to maintain the efficiency and versatility of a modern crossover. Featuring USTMA’s Severe Snow Rating, you’ll find that your crossover is going to perform significantly better in the white stuff than it did when it was equipped with an all-season tire.

WINTERPEAK F-ICE
Best Winter Tire

Winter tires have gone through a lot of innovation recently, with a push to making essentially all-season tires that handle winter a bit better than a regular all-season tire might. The Falken WINTERPEAK F-ICE 1 heads in the other direction, maximizing winter performance in snow, ice and brutally cold temperatures. It’s also studdable, making it one of the few remaining dedicated winter tires that still accept the metal studs for the ultimate in ice performance. The tire features a pliable, winter-ready tread compound, and is available in a range of sizes that covers a variety of modern vehicles, with the option to add TSMI #12 or #13 studs. There is a limit to what an all-terrain tire like the excellent WILDPEAK A/T3W can do on ice and snow-covered ice. When the winter conditions are their most extreme, the WINTERPEAK F-ICE 1 is the tire to choose.
Specs:
Falken may not be the most recognized brand of tires just yet, but they’ve been around for quite some time, and have made a name for themselves in performance circles. Founded in Japan in 1983, Falken made its way here in 1985 and is seen as a technology leader in tire technology.
Competition is key to Falken’s legacy, and it sees motorsports as a laboratory for its products.
Falken is capitalizing on its history as a performance brand, and making those victories and advances applicable to everyday street tires. In recent years, Falken has earned its way onto the original equipment list for vehicles like the RAM 1500, Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, and Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road.
The Road Hazard Protection warranty is something to think about, too. Falken provides FREE replacement for up to two years or for the first 3/32nds of tread life.
Technical Innovations: Falken has received patents for several of its designs, and has worked to deliver technical innovations even in its conventional all-season tire lineup.
Off-Highway Performance: Falken has wagered a big bet on all-terrain and mud-terrain tires that are suitable for crossovers, SUVs and trucks, covering a huge percentage of the most popular vehicles on the road today. The advancement in an all-terrain tire specifically for crossovers is a big step forward, and provides drivers who have jumped into overlanding with a unique tire that truly meets their needs.
Warranty: Free replacement for up to two years or the first 3/32nds of tread life is definitely a consideration, especially if this is your first set of Falkens and you’re anxious about trying them out.
In the modern world where any product is just a few keystrokes and a UPS truck away, you don’t have to think that much about whether your local tire guy carries a brand or not. However, if you’re running less popular tires and you’re driving across the country, availability is definitely something to think about. It’s not like you can’t get a set of Falkens in a day in Boston, but if you’re in East Jabib Center in Oklahoma, you might be in for a wait to replace one.

In the beginning, it is worth mentioning that the Falken brand comes from Japan and is associated with the Sumitomo concern. It is also deeply rooted in the American market. It all started when Sumitomo wanted to promote its highest performance tires in the demanding US market.
Therefore, in the early 1980s, he founded the Falken brand, which in a short time was a huge success and became popular not only among ordinary drivers, but also among professionals. Over time, Falken tires also made their way to Europe.
This model has a lot to offer in terms of technology. It appeared on the market at the beginning of 2016, so it is a fresh and modern project. The manufacturer lists up to 8 technologies that were used in the Falken Azenis FK510 tires:
VOLTAGE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY - The middle section of the sidewall is more flexible to absorb shock and improve vehicle control.
ADAPTIVE CONSTANT PRESSURE (ACP) PATTERN CONSTRUCTION - better pressure distribution on the tread surface improves maneuvering stability and shortens braking distances.
CHANGING JAW - The special shape of the transverse grooves improves water evacuation and handling on wet surfaces in straight and curved motion.
WIDE SHOULDER BLOCKS - Wide blocks on the tire shoulder (side tread area) improve grip during dynamic cornering.
4D NANO DESIGN TREAD COMPOUND - Nanoparticle rubber compound provides excellent grip, wear resistance and reduces tire heat.
HYBRID UNDERTREAD CAP PLY - The use of aramid and nylon materials in the belt provides stiffness and stability at very high speeds.
VARIABLE DEPTH - Variable depth of cut keeps the bar flexible while maintaining its rigidity.
FOUR CIRCUITS - Four wide circumferential grooves improve water drainage and protect against hydroplaning.
Since its introduction on the market, this model has been subjected to several tire tests and its results can be considered very good. In 2017, they were checked, in particular, by journalists from Auto Bild magazine. Tires in size 225/50 R17 were tested then. Falken Azenis FK510 performed excellently in this test, taking second place.
In the same year, this tire was also examined more closely by the editors of the special edition "Auto Bild Sportcars". In size 235/35 R19 he did just as well and finished 4th. In the remaining tests of 2017, the model achieved 5th place in the "Auto Motor und Sport" test (245/45 R18) and 6th place in the additional UHP tire test conducted by "Auto Bild" (245/40 R18) respectively.
The year before, the Azenis FK510 was tested, among others, by GTU (5th in 225/45 R17), Auto Express (7th in 225/40 R18) and EVO (9-th place in the amount of 235 / 35 R19).
The model we discussed had an asymmetric tread pattern. This type of tread is considered the most technologically advanced and is often used in high performance tires designed for luxury and sports cars. Technology is one thing, but it is also worth presenting the pros and cons of such a solution.
Disadvantages:
advantages:
The Falken Azenis FK510 tire parameters on the EU label confirm the manufacturer's declaration regarding the performance of this model. In the sample size 215/45 R17 91 Y, the tire has an A class (highest) in the wet braking category.
As for rolling resistance, it is worse (class "E"), but, as we have already said, for this type of tire this is of secondary importance. From the point of view of external noise, this is very good - 1 wave and 69 dB - an excellent result. The labels show that the Falken Azenis FK510 tires are very safe and fairly quiet.
The manufacturer's warranty for this model is quite standard and comparable to other averages. Buying Falken tires, of course, you get a guarantee that you will become the owner of functional and high-quality tires. The warranty period is 2 years and is counted from the date of purchase of tires.
This may not be long (many manufacturers give longer warranties), but it can be considered sufficient, because if the tires do have some manufacturing defects, they will certainly be detected much faster. If you complain about your tire and your complaint is accepted, you will receive a new product or compensation depending on the amount of wear on the defective tire.
We have already discussed technological problems. Now it's worth looking at the opinions of drivers about the Falken Azenis FK510 tires.
“Very good tyres, comparable to top shelf tyres. They get wet well, give a feeling of control over the car. I hope they don't wear out too soon, but I will buy them again anyway. " "I bought these tires with the car (Audi). I don't mind them, you can drive them a little faster without fear of a dangerous situation. They don't cause any problems when starting, braking or cornering. Of course, I don't rode them in the winter, but in other conditions they cope, no matter what the conditions on the road.”Let's compare the main characteristics of a tire, such as wet performance, readiness to repurchase or the price of a product. All parameters are evaluated on a scale from 1 to 10. 8.4 / 10
