How to know what your atv is worth

ATV Values | Find Out What It's Worth - ATV Style

This ATV price guide outlines the steps you can take to determine ATV values for trade-in or private sale. ATV Values fluctuate, knowing what an ATV is worth before you buy or sell it will save you money. Avoid overpaying before buying an ATV and don’t lose money by offering an ATV for sale too cheaply.

You have several pricing tools available at your disposal, some services cost money while other sources are completely free to use if you know where to look. I’ve taken the time to list some of the more valuable sources of ATV price information available online and explained how to use them below.

Compare, compare, compare: A good first step in getting an ATV book value is to compare the current average price of other sales of the same make and model you are interested in. To do that you can visit websites that specialize in local ATV sales, including auction, classified and dealer websites, and take note of the current asking prices. Compare similar ATV brands of the same age and condition to come up with an accurate valuation.

Consider modifications and upgrades: The ATV you are pricing may have aftermarket components that are considered performance parts which, by virtue of being more desirable, might raise the value of an ATV. It’s important to know that the value of an ATV will not increase by the full retail value of any performance upgrade, in fact it might only increase by 50% of the price of the parts, if that.

Performance parts installed more than a year prior to sale may have lost as much as 90% of their added value and this is especially true for parts subject to normal wear and tear like tires and exhaust parts. Upgrades add to ATV value but not by the full cost of the upgrades themselves.

How to use KBB to determine ATV value

Kelly Blue Book is a vehicle pricing service with decades of pricing experience that also covers ATVs and motorcycles. I’ve taken the time to guide you through the process of getting an ATV blue book value via their website, here is what you do…

  • Step #1 – Visit KBB. com to launch their ATV values page
  • Step #2 – Enter your zip code and select make and model
  • Step #3 – Choose Trade in(ATV dealers) or retail(private sale) value
  • Step #4 – Enter optional equipment details, if any, and get price
  • Note: KBB offers one price for an ATV in exceptional condition
  • KBB is a registered trademark of Kelley Blue Book, Inc
  • Provides tips for finding expert reviews and news on utility vehicles

How to find an ATV book value with Nada

Nada, like KBB, is a trusted service that offers “blue book” pricing information. They also valuate ATVs and, like KBB, ATV prices are located in the motorcycle section. Here are instructions on how to use NADA

  • Step #1 – Visit nadaguides.com to find their ATV info page
  • Step #2 – Choose ATVs from the powersport category list
  • Step #3 – Enter your area code and model information
  • Step #4 – Check any optional or aftermarket parts
  • Step #5 – Get your high/low/retail price range result
  • Nada ATV is trademarked by National Appraisal Guides Inc

ATV trade in value vs private sale values: The true value of an ATV depends on whom you are buying it from or selling it to. The amount offered for an ATV as a trade in value will be lower than you could have obtained in a private sale but you are spared the time, energy and cost involved with finding a buyer. The retail value is the price associated with buying an ATV from a licensed business and, though slightly more expensive, you may have recourse if something is wrong with the vehicle.

Private sales should be considered at your own risk in terms of safety but can also be how you find the best bargain or receive a higher price than you would from a registered dealer. Decide which source is best for you based on your tolerance for risk vs obtaining a better deal.

How much does a new ATV cost?

According to research of 2019 prices online the average cost of a new ATV is just over $11,000. That is the average price for a base model from popular brands. Prices for a brand new ATV range from $4500 for a Chinese import ATV up to $23,999+ for a side by side UTV.

Make sure it’s not stolen!: A final step in determining the value of your quad is to perform a stolen ATV check because those are worth nothing to anyone but the rightful owner. If you suspect something is wrong or a deal is too good to be true trust your instincts and get more information or walk away. There are stiff penalties to having stolen property in your possession and, at the least, you can expect to lose any money you paid. Be safe!

What is ATV trade-in value?

Trade-in value is the amount of money a dealer is willing to pay for your old ATV when you buy a new one. It’s like receiving a discount on your new ATV price for trading-in the old one. Although most ATV dealers will offer a fair price it’s generally accepted that the offer for your trade-in will be on the low side. You can typically get more for your old ATV if you take the time to prepare it, list it in classifieds yourself, and patiently wait to find a buyer willing to pay your price. By trading-in the old ATV you can skip all of that work, the dealer will do it for you. Trade-in value is typically lower than actual value, they are different values.

Tip: Another way to learn what your quad is worth is to look up your specific make and model in your local classifieds and on popular online marketplaces. Find a quad in similar condition and see how much they actually sell for.

Opinion about Dakar Desert Rally.

Snowy Amazing Desert - Igromania

In heading "In plain text" , the authors express their own opinion only, which may not coincide with the opinion of the editors (or may coincide). They are free to do it as they like and in any format convenient for themselves. Everything is possible here.

When you imagine a desert, an image immediately pops up - endless sands and dunes, sharp rocks carved by the wind and rare oases or streams that a happy traveler meets on the way. And yet this is only one side of this amazing coin, which will surprise both the northern stay-at-home and the southern adventurer.

After all, it is here, on the endless sandy expanses (in the last three years - in Saudi Arabia) that the Dakar rally takes place, attracting both professionals and amateurs. Many of them want success, the much-desired championship, but for even more people this is an opportunity to test their strength, experience incredible sensations and simply appreciate the beauty of the world around them.

And the rally simulator Dakar Desert Rally manages to please both of them quite successfully - if you have patience and get used to the features of the game.

The wind blows behind the cockpit with dust

When you start to get acquainted with a new simulator, which also promises to be as realistic as possible, you are always a little worried: how long does it take to master its mechanics and start enjoying the process? And in general, do you have everything you need to play the way the developers intended? We immediately answer the last question: of course, ideally, the player should have a steering wheel and pedals, but Saber Interactive made Dakar Desert Rally friendly to both gamepad owners and those who prefer the PC starter kit - mouse and keyboard. Although with the latter, of course, managing local transport is noticeably more difficult.

Speaking of vehicles, the game, like in a real Dakar, offers five types of vehicles. Here are motorcycles with trucks, and ATVs with cars, and a mixture of the last two, SxS ATVs. Each species is unique in its own way, and you immediately feel it: for example, nimble motorcycles can easily pass where the MAZ pilot needs surgical precision, and it is much easier to overtake rivals on two-wheeled vehicles, but he needs to pay much more attention when cornering and when jumping - it is much easier to get into an accident on it in certain situations.

You will surely quickly find a transport to your liking.

And to make it easier to get used to, the developers have prepared three racing modes: simplified sports races, where you get used to the controls and physics, professional races, where you have to be much more attentive and better listen to the “voice assistant”, as well as the simulation itself. For hardcore lovers who are tired of "arcade rides".

Thus, there are really many races waiting for you in the Dakar Desert Rally. Crazy a lot. First, you will pass this track on a sporty difficulty level on a motorcycle. Then, after some time, you will return here on ATVs. Then on trucks and so on. After learning how to win and getting a little bored, you will move to a higher level of difficulty. Where you are waiting for new numerous arrivals on all modes of transport. And then you want to race with your friends ...

And all this in a relatively open world, where you often decide how to get from point A to point Z (preferably by jumping into points B-S).

When the game allows, turn on the helicopter view. You will not regret! In general, you will probably ride with a view from the cab more often, but sometimes you can pamper the aesthete inside.

If the Dakar Desert Rally has something to delight almost everyone, it's its world. The developers have done an incredible job: from the very first seconds, you can't take your eyes off the picture, which pleases you with both picturesque landscapes and attention to detail. Whether it’s day or night, rain or snow (yes, it’s extremely rare in the desert, but it can be very snowy!), lifeless wastelands or roads near settlements, you will not only not get tired of looking at the screen, but you will look at the environment as best as possible - well as far as possible at high speeds.

Dune rides at sunset, sand rising in the air under the scorching sun, almost zero visibility at night during a snow storm ... All kinds of situations that the player will be in make one wish for a photo mode - which, alas, is not yet in Dakar Desert Rally, but the developers plan to add it in the future.

It's a pity that there is no photo mode at the start. And yet, on not the most modern PCs, if you are willing to sacrifice a little quality for the sake of smoothness, the game still looks great.

Pay attention to the navigator, and if necessary, turn on the wipers or headlights.

Turn left - be careful, driver!

Beauty is beauty, but the game is interesting primarily for its trials and challenges that it throws to the player. There is practically no asphalt here, and there are not a lot of specialists in the district who will bring you into shape in a second. If you participate in the Dakar races, get ready for the fact that it will be difficult for you, and any mistake can be fatal.

Having started and accelerated on the first straight, look into the distance, because sooner or later you will find a turn that brings both threats and opportunities. On the one hand, the enemy AI is often lame here, and in difficult situations, when your rivals only stop and try to get back on track, you can try to overtake those who are unlucky. On the other hand, in order to gain an advantage, you need to be able to foresee and cope with difficulties yourself, slow down in time, turn in advance or build your route in your own way so that you don’t end up at the end of the tail.

Sometimes it is very effective to cut.

The very essence of racing in the Dakar Desert Rally is driving from waypoint to waypoint - step by step to the finish line. But there are a couple of nuances. So, waypoints are visible only on the easiest difficulty level, on the rest you will have to trust your car, navigator or journal with notes. And you don't really have to go through every point - one or two you can easily (usually because it's very easy to make a mistake) miss. So even if you end up coming first, for every waypoint you miss, you will be given penalty minutes - and you will be several positions lower on the leaderboard.

In addition, banal and hated stones or trees can slow down a racer on the way, after a collision with which you will be lucky if the car does not need repairs, or conditional lakes, during the crossing of which you slow down. Or the same dunes - you accelerate, jump, and then you find yourself on the right or left side.

When the condition of the car becomes critical right during the race, you can not do without repair in the field. If the finish line is still far away, it is better to take this opportunity, but in the end, critical seconds will be added to your time spent on the trip - a fine for the same repair. Therefore, it is better to drive carefully, do not break windows or headlights, but do repairs at the base.

After arrival (and this is far from the worst option) and after repair.

Somehow he will make it to the last miles

Even an outsider who started in sixteenth position can come first in the Dakar Desert Rally. Even a pilot who decides for the sake of interest to arrange a simulator FlatOut (not perfect, but quite good) or GTA , as well as exploring the world outside the track. Yes, big, but limited: if you drive too far from the main route, you will be teleported back.

The indicator on the left side of the screen shows how far the opponents are. And even if it suddenly seems that they are already too ahead, you should not give up: practice shows that in any situation a favorable outcome can happen for you: a major accident, an unsuccessful ascent or descent from the mountain, or the notorious sharp turn that rivals cannot handle. So do not rush to press "restart" and furiously turn off the game because of the lag and another mistake: it will make you more experienced and more successful in the future.

And on the right you can see those who are in front of you and immediately behind you: in this case, the author of the article has just been overtaken.

After all, it's not a fact that other AI pilots won't make a larger and more epic miss, requesting repairs and getting a lot of penalty time. And when you finish fourth, you'll find yourself at the top, which means more experience points and Dakar points await you, opening up new tracks and opportunities (including playing in a simulator mode), as well as allowing you to purchase new or repair current vehicles.

At the same time, you can expand your garage for free, by successfully completing the stages and getting the opportunity to either replenish your Dakar points account (so that you can buy what you need later), or your fleet. Sponsors don't always offer what you want, but if they do, in order to participate in full-fledged competitions, you will first need to qualify, a test race.

Your reliable friend and comrade motor

Having obtained several cars, ATVs and motorcycles, you can change their characteristics to some extent depending on the situation: somewhere you need maximum speed, and somewhere you prefer good handling. So the characteristics of vehicles (of which, that is, customizable characteristics, there are actually quite a few here) can be changed at least after each race.

In addition, the game's interface helps gamers with periodic pop-up hints about where to go, how sharp the turn will be, or what danger lies ahead. There are also pretty obvious green arrows to get you ready for a change of direction, and symbols, for example, ascent or descent, bumps, water, and so on - all this is written in the game itself. It would seem an obvious plus, but Dakar Desert Rally is not translated into Russian, so you will have to figure out some terms on your own.

One way or another, as a rule, a lot is clear just from the visual, so look ahead and to the sides, notice in which direction (degrees attached) the next waypoint is and what awaits you on the way.

After spending a few hours in the Dakar Desert Rally, I understand that the game is really exciting - and can captivate even more if you don’t drive through the desert for days on end: better a little today, a little tomorrow, and then again with friends - and travel to Saudi Arabia could last months or even years.
