Stopping a vehicle in the middle of a quarry at the height of the working day due to a damaged tire can cause significant damage to a mining enterprise. You have to wait for the robot-tow truck, tow the non-working car to the repair shop, and after another half a day to dismantle the fixing wedges of the wheel and install a new CG.
Every minute spent on repairs is a loss of money: even a single vehicle downtime can seriously reduce production. However, those companies that purchased special equipment for the repair of a truck directly at the accident site were able to forget about such problems.
As a rule, such work is carried out in repair boxes with the use of tow truck robots - loaders equipped with a hinged grab for CG, a stationary compressor, and a tire changer for disassembling and assembling wheels.
Repairs involve a large number of personnel, and in an effort to save time, workers often neglect safety procedures, which can lead to accidents. That is why today many mining enterprises prefer to use mobile service complexes at open pits.
Implementation of such installations with tire manipulators (wheel pullers) allows to increase real profit by 25-30%. The economic effect is achieved due to the rapid replacement of the CGS. The complexes quickly drive up to the accident site with a new wheel, make a replacement and immediately deliver the damaged tire to the repair box. MSCs spend only 15 minutes instead of 1.5-2 hours on pumping a flat tire.
Repair is carried out directly in the conditions of the quarry, the craftsmen do not need to evacuate faulty equipment to a stationary tire repair shop. By eliminating redundant operations and reducing the number of downtimes, the enterprise increases production volumes and, as a result, receives more profit.
One of the leading manufacturers of such equipment is the American company Stellar Industries, Inc. Euroelement LLC has the exclusive right to manufacture mobile complexes using the technologies of the original brand in Russia and the CIS.
The Stellar mobile service complex is a crane-manipulator device mounted on a truck chassis. MSK is equipped with a wheel puller capable of servicing wheels from 18.00R25 to 59/80R63.
Welder-generator and 3100 l/min compressor are also available. with air preparation, which operate from their own hydraulic system. On the "board" of the car there is a service platform for the transportation of CGs with a size of 59/80R63.

The advantages and profitability of MSC Stellar are highly appreciated by both quarry workers and specialists of service organizations that service the technical fleet at mining sites. The Stellar solution was tested at the Karazhyra coal mine located in eastern Kazakhstan.
According to rough estimates, the industrial reserves of the deposit amount to 1 billion 231 million tons of coal. More than 6 million tons of minerals are mined and sold at the enterprise annually. It is not surprising that with such reserves, the field should have an impressive fleet of powerful special equipment.
At the Karazhyra open pit, 42 units of large-sized equipment and 57 units of other auxiliary vehicles are operated, the total number of wheels is more than 342 pieces. Maintenance of the voluminous wheel park was undertaken by Unityre, one of the leaders in the market for the supply of car tires and their professional service.
In 2020, the leaders of the Kazakhstani enterprise and the executing company agreed to take one MSC Stellar for testing. Having visited the Berezovsky open-pit mine, JSC Stroyservis and the Kiyzassky open-pit mine of the Sibanthracite group, where such complexes are actively exploited, the management of Karazhyra JSC decided to test not one, but two complexes at once. The first enterprises to receive Stellar mobile complexes were Karazhyra JSC and Molodezhny Open-Pit Mine of Kazakhmys Coal LLP (Kazakhmys Coal).
Previously, at the Karazhyra open pit, the replacement of wheels was carried out as follows: in case of visible damage to the wheel, the dump truck drove to the nearest unloading point, after which a “technician” was involved, which towed it to the building where the repair work was carried out. In general, the process took several hours.
Mobile tire changer Stellar and its crew leave for the place where the equipment stops in a few minutes. The platform allows you to transport up to two spare wheels at the same time. With the well-coordinated work of the team, the car is able to return to the route in 1. 5-2 hours after a forced stop.
MSK Stellar, within the framework of the wheel fleet management project at the Karazhyra mine, has become an integral element of the full-cycle tire fitting site: repair, inflation, maintaining the correct level of tire pressure and much more. The implementation of a unique project for the introduction of a mobile service complex with a tire manipulator by Unitire specialists will allow enterprises to significantly reduce the downtime of mining equipment.
The use of Stellar mobile service complexes has long proved its worth at a number of large mining enterprises. The very first MSC in Russia appeared in 2010 at the Berezovsky open pit of CJSC StroyService, and 3 years later the company launched three such units.
The first Stellar complex appeared at the Tugnuisky open pit of OAO SUEK in 2013. As a result of successful operation, the management decided to purchase additional complexes for the Chernogorsky, Zarechny and Bureinsky open pits. The company noted that with the use of a mobile service, downtime was reduced by 30%, and the equipment availability factor also increased to 0.93%.
Employees of EVRAZ Kachkanarsky GOK experienced the convenience and efficiency of using complexes with a portable oil dispensing module. The device makes it possible to change the engine oil for three BELAZ 7530 series mining dump trucks in one trip.
The real practice of many major representatives of the industry has shown that when a stationary tire shop and a mobile mobile complex are used together, a mining enterprise receives maximum profit.
