Firestone will charge you around $65 to balance all four wheels. This is a little pricier than most places as prices vary from $15 to $75 at an average of $40. Though Firestone is more expensive you can be assured that their quality of work is good. Additionally, they offer some bonuses with every wheel balance.
What's In This Guide?
Firstly, Firestone shops are usually equipped with good quality equipment, which are well maintained, allowing them to perform accurate wheel balances. Additionally, Firestone provides the included service of a pressure check and guarantees the balancing under a lifetime warranty.
All of the above reasons coupled with the high degree of professionalism I have personally encountered with Firestone employees is why I think Firestone is worth the higher price of $65.
Why Should You Get Your Wheel Balanced? There are two main reasons why you would want to get your wheels balanced. For one, unbalanced wheels can cause vibration to varying degrees. Sometimes the vibration is so little you don’t really know it’s there until you get the wheels balanced. Then all of a sudden, it’s like driving a new vehicle.
Other times the vibration is as bad as an unbalanced washing machine. A high amount of vibration is not only uncomfortable but can also cause damage to your vehicle. Secondly, unbalanced wheels will most likely shorten your tires’ life span.
Tread life is only as long as the most worn-out spot on the tire. If a wheel is unbalanced, it will no doubt wear out more on one or two places faster than the rest of the tire. Ensuring that your tires are properly balanced is key to maintaining your tires’ tread life.
Can You Tell If Your Wheels Are Out of Balance? The easiest way to tell if your tires are out of balance is by the aforementioned vibrations. These vibrations are often felt in three different areas, the steering wheel, the seats, and/or the floorboard. Most of the time, however, you will either feel the vibration through the steering wheel or through the seat, typically one or the other.
The area of vibration will help you determine which wheel or wheels are out of balance. If the majority of the vibrations are coming from the steering wheel, then the out-of-balance tire is most likely one of the fronts. If the vibration is coming through the seat, then most likely the unbalanced tire is one of the rears.
A badly unbalanced front tire can, however, cause vibrations in all areas, but a badly rear wheel will rarely cause the steering wheel to vibrate. Either way, it is a good idea to get all of your tires balanced at the same time even if you suspect the vibrations are only coming from one tire. Additionally, Firestone notes that Vibrations are typically the worst around 55 miles per hour.
What Can Cause Your Wheels to Become Out of Balance? There are a few different reasons which can cause a tire to become out of balance. Uneven tread wear is the main cause of an unbalanced tire which in itself can have several causes such as; unbalanced wheels, external damage, and miss alignment.
Yes, an unbalanced wheel can cause tread wear which further unbalances the wheel. Even more reason to get your wheels balanced, they get worse over time and lead to bald spots! Hitting a pothole or curb can also cause a wheel to go out of balance, mainly because balancing weights are lost in the impact.
Finally, flat spots can cause a wheel to become out of balance. Flat spots can be created in two ways. First, braking hard and locking up the wheels on a dry surface can cause an instant flat spot on all the wheels that lock up.
Lockups are often seen in Formula One and other racing series and usually happen when the driver brakes too hard going into a corner. The second kind of flat spot happens when a vehicle has not been moved or driven for a long time.
How Often Should You Balance Your Vehicle’s Wheels? On average you want to get your wheels balanced every 5,000 to 6,000 miles. Different vehicle manufacturers will have differing recommendations, however, if you want what is best for your vehicle, you should consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
That being said, it is a good rule of thumb to have your wheels balanced when doing routine maintenance such as tire rotations or if you get a flat tire.
How Long Does Fire Stone Take to Balance a Set of Wheels?Firestone will typically take around 45 minutes to 2 hours for all four wheels to be balanced. Though there is a big difference between 45 minutes and 2 hours there is a good reason. It all comes down to the condition of your tires.
If you have relatively new tires then the balancing should be closer to 45 minutes, however; if the tire imbalance is due to something like hitting a pothole, the balancing process could take a longer time. Other factors that impact your wait time are; driving habits, the local climate where most of the driving is done, and the condition of the tires themselves.
ConclusionIn conclusion, Firestone is a little more expensive than most places at $65, however, they provide a professional service with more benefits than most other companies which provide the same service. I feel much more comfortable with Firestone’s $65 job than I do with a company only charging $15.

Making sure that your car’s ride is smooth can be a bit of a balancing act.
Proper maintenance of your tires and your car includes tire balancing (or wheel balancing). A tire balancing service corrects any weight imbalances on your tire and wheel assemblies. Tire balancing isn’t the same as alignment. A wheel alignment involves adjusting the angles of the suspension so the tires make contact with the road in the way they’re supposed to.
Schedule An Appointment
Balancing the tires of your car not only helps lead to a smoother ride, but also helps extend the treadwear of the tires and eases the strain on the drivetrain.During a tire balance service, a technician mounts the tires and wheels onto a tire balancing machine. The machine spins the tire and wheel assembly to gauge the amount of imbalance. The technician then gets rid of any imbalance by installing wheel weights.
When it's time to have your tires balanced, schedule an appointment at your local Firestone Complete Auto Care for professional tire balancing services.
Your tires and your car typically tell you when the tires are out of balance. Signs that your tires need balancing can include vibrations in the floorboard, seat or steering wheel.
Pay close attention to where the vibrations are coming from, as this can signal whether the front or rear tires need to be balanced. If you feel trembling in the steering wheel, it’s probably time for your front tires to be balanced. But if the seats are vibrating, it’s likely that the back tires need to be balanced. We always recommend balancing all of your tiresat the same time to ensure a smooth ride. Tire imbalance also seems to be at its worst at about 55 miles per hour.
Several things can lead to your tires being out of balance, including:
Generally, you should have your tires balanced every 5,000 to 6,000 miles. However, we recommend reading the owner’s manual to find out how often the automaker advises balancing your car’s tires. You may also want to get the tires balanced during scheduled routine maintenance services, after a flat tire repair, or during a tire rotation.
Tire balancing typically takes 45 minutes to two hours. The appointment may be shorter if your tires are newer, for instance, and may last longer if tire balancing is needed after your car hits a pothole.
Additionally, your driving habits, the climate where you drive most often, and the condition of the tires can contribute to the time it takes to balance the tires. Call your local Firestone Complete Auto Care to schedule your tire balancing appointmentand have a professional technician assist you with your service length questions.
Driving with old tires can be dangerous and cause damage to your vehicle. Here are some of the signs it’s time to invest in a new set of tires.

Two bumps were swollen on one of the tires at once.
As a result, I have 4 disks and only three normal tires (tire mileage is only about 7-8 thousand on city roads).
Rubber is stock:
Continental Conti Premium Contact 195 50 15R 82 H
The model appears to have been discontinued. Moreover, I need 1 piece. nine0005
As a result, it turns out that you need to buy two other tires and put them in front, and leave the old ones in the back? Or should I change all 4?
Or are there other options?
And what tires would you recommend for stock R15 rims.

there, in my opinion, either 14 radius or dokatka
04/21/2011, 07:42 PM #4 The fourth one is in your trunk...
there is probably 175 R14 Firestone, hardly a 15" disc and put in the spare tire.Take two new ones of the same size on the front.

Mic ,
but in general, we have for example for 300 rubles. they can glue the bump from the inside, balance it with weights and you will continue to ride
Regarding the two new ones: can you take any that you like, or is it desirable to select a drawing or something else?
Or is it better to take Continental Conti Premium Contact 2? The pattern is similar and the rubber, in theory, should also not differ much. To be honest, I can't find it in the right size either. The suspicion crept in that they did not exist in this size at all. nine0005

Yes, but this is already a risk. Also not an option for me. Moreover, there are 2 cones at once.Last edited by mic; 21.04.2011 at 19:57.

Any is possible.
The main thing is that the pair on the axis is the same. And it's really not worth repairing hernias.

It turned out that it is more difficult to buy 2 wheels than 4I chose a pair of Fulda Carat Progresso 195/50 R15 82H.
It seems to be inexpensive and quite high quality.Thank you all for your answers. nine0005

In Ukraine, the rules clearly state about one axle.
I'm more interested in driving on a spare tire, which is a dokatka 14 ". Here, for it, on quite legal grounds, they can be fined.
